حَمِٓ تَنزِيلٞ مِّنَ اَلرَّحْمَٰنِ اِلرَّحِيمِ﴿1﴾
حم تنزيل من الرحمن الرحيم
Hā Mīm.
كِتَٰبٞ فُصِّلَتْ ءَايَٰتُهُ قُرْءَاناً عَرَبِيّاٗ لِّقَوْمٖ يَعْلَمُونَ﴿2﴾
كتب فصلت ءايته قرءانا عربيا لقوم يعلمون
A revelation from the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful,
بَشِيراٗ وَنَذِيراٗ فَأَعْرَضَ أَكْثَرُهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ﴿3﴾
بشيرا ونذيرا فأعرض أكثرهم فهم لا يسمعون
a Book whose verses are well explained; an Arabic Qur’an for people who understand,
وَقَالُواْ قُلُوبُنَا فِي أَكِنَّةٖ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَا إِلَيْهِ وَفِي ءَاذَانِنَا وَقْرٞ وَمِن بَيْنِنَا وَبَيْنِكَ حِجَابٞ فَاعْمَلْ إِنَّنَا عَٰمِلُونَ﴿4﴾
وقالوا قلوبنا في أكنة مما تدعونا إليه وفي ءاذاننا وقر ومن بيننا وبينك حجاب فاعمل إننا عملون
as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner; yet most of them turn away and they do not listen.
قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٞ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُوحَىٰ إِلَيَّ أَنَّمَا إِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٞ وَٰحِدٞ فَاسْتَقِيمُواْ إِلَيْهِ وَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ وَوَيْلٞ لِّلْمُشْرِكِينَ﴿5﴾
قل إنما أنا بشر مثلكم يوحى إلي أنما إلهكم إله وحد فاستقيموا إليه واستغفروه وويل للمشركين
They say, “Our hearts are covered against what you are calling us to; there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us and you. So carry on [in your way], we will carry on [in our way].”
اَلذِينَ لَا يُؤْتُونَ اَلزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُم بِالْأٓخِرَةِ هُمْ كَٰفِرُونَ﴿6﴾
الذين لا يؤتون الزكوة وهم بالأخرة هم كفرون
Say [O Prophet], “I am only a human being like yourselves; it has been revealed to me that your god is only One God, so seek the straight path to Him and seek His forgiveness, and woe to those who associate partners with Him,
إِنَّ اَلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٖ﴿7﴾
إن الذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت لهم أجر غير ممنون
those who do not give zakah, and who disbelieve in the Hereafter.
قُلْ أَٰئِنَّكُمْ لَتَكْفُرُونَ بِالذِي خَلَقَ اَلْأَرْضَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ وَتَجْعَلُونَ لَهُ أَندَاداٗ ذَٰلِكَ رَبُّ اُلْعَٰلَمِينَ﴿8﴾
قل أئنكم لتكفرون بالذي خلق الأرض في يومين وتجعلون له أندادا ذلك رب العلمين
Those who believe and do righteous deeds, they will have a never-ending reward.
وَجَعَلَ فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ مِن فَوْقِهَا وَبَٰرَكَ فِيهَا وَقَدَّرَ فِيهَا أَقْوَٰتَهَا فِي أَرْبَعَةِ أَيَّامٖ سَوَآءٗ لِّلسَّآئِلِينَ﴿9﴾
وجعل فيها روسي من فوقها وبرك فيها وقدر فيها أقوتها في أربعة أيام سواء للسائلين
Say, “Do you disbelieve in the One Who created the earth in two Days and you set up rivals to Him? Such is the Lord of the worlds.
ثُمَّ اَسْتَوَىٰ إِلَى اَلسَّمَآءِ وَهْيَ دُخَانٞ فَقَالَ لَهَا وَلِلْأَرْضِ اِئْتِيَا طَوْعاً أَوْ كَرْهاٗ قَالَتَا أَتَيْنَا طَآئِعِينَ﴿10﴾
ثم استوى إلى السماء وهي دخان فقال لها وللأرض ايتيا طوعا أو كرها قالتا أتينا طائعين
He placed on it firm mountains standing high above it, showered His blessings upon it, and measured its sustenance totaling exactly four Days, for all who ask.
فَقَضَيٰهُنَّ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَاتٖ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ وَأَوْحَىٰ فِي كُلِّ سَمَآءٍ أَمْرَهَا وَزَيَّنَّا اَلسَّمَآءَ اَلدُّنْيَا بِمَصَٰبِيحَ وَحِفْظاٗ ذَٰلِكَ تَقْدِيرُ اُلْعَزِيزِ اِلْعَلِيمِ﴿11﴾
فقضيهن سبع سموات في يومين وأوحى في كل سماء أمرها وزينا السماء الدنيا بمصبيح وحفظا ذلك تقدير العزيز العليم
Then He turned to the heaven when it was all smoke, and said to it and to the earth, ‘Come into being, willingly or unwillingly.’ They both said, ‘We come willingly.’
فَإِنْ أَعْرَضُواْ فَقُلْ أَنذَرْتُكُمْ صَٰعِقَةٗ مِّثْلَ صَٰعِقَةِ عَادٖ وَثَمُودَ﴿12﴾
فإن أعرضوا فقل أنذرتكم صعقة مثل صعقة عاد وثمود
He then formed them into seven heavens in two Days and assigned to each heaven its mandate. And We adorned the lowest heaven with lamps [i.e., stars] which also serve as protection. That is the design of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.”
إِذْ جَآءَتْهُمُ اُلرُّسُلُ مِن بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُواْ إِلَّا اَللَّهَ قَالُواْ لَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّنَا لَأَنزَلَ مَلَٰٓئِكَةٗ فَإِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِ كَٰفِرُونَ﴿13﴾
إذ جاءتهم الرسل من بين أيديهم ومن خلفهم ألا تعبدوا إلا الله قالوا لو شاء ربنا لأنزل ملئكة فإنا بما أرسلتم به كفرون
But if they turn away, then say, “I warn you of a blast like the one that befell ‘Ād and Thamūd,
فَأَمَّا عَادٞ فَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ اِلْحَقِّ وَقَالُواْ مَنْ أَشَدُّ مِنَّا قُوَّةً أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْاْ أَنَّ اَللَّهَ اَلذِي خَلَقَهُمْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةٗ وَكَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ﴿14﴾
فأما عاد فاستكبروا في الأرض بغير الحق وقالوا من أشد منا قوة أولم يروا أن الله الذي خلقهم هو أشد منهم قوة وكانوا بـايتنا يجحدون
when the messengers came to them from the front and from behind [saying], “Worship none but Allah,” they said, “If our Lord had willed , He would have sent down angels; so we disbelieve in what you have been sent with.”
فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحاٗ صَرْصَراٗ فِي أَيَّامٖ نَّحْسَاتٖ لِّنُذِيقَهُمْ عَذَابَ اَلْخِزْيِ فِي اِلْحَيَوٰةِ اِلدُّنْيَا وَلَعَذَابُ اُلْأٓخِرَةِ أَخْزَىٰ وَهُمْ لَا يُنصَرُونَ﴿15﴾
فأرسلنا عليهم ريحا صرصرا في أيام نحسات لنذيقهم عذاب الخزي في الحيوة الدنيا ولعذاب الأخرة أخزى وهم لا ينصرون
As for ‘Ād, they were arrogant in the land without right, and said, “Who is more powerful than us?” Did they not see that Allah, Who created them, is more powerful than them? Yet they continued to reject Our signs.
وَأَمَّا ثَمُودُ فَهَدَيْنَٰهُمْ فَاسْتَحَبُّواْ اُلْعَمَىٰ عَلَى اَلْهُدَىٰ فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ صَٰعِقَةُ اُلْعَذَابِ اِلْهُونِ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ﴿16﴾
وأما ثمود فهدينهم فاستحبوا العمى على الهدى فأخذتهم صعقة العذاب الهون بما كانوا يكسبون
So We sent against them a roaring wind for several inauspicious days to make them taste a disgracing punishment in the life of this world, but the punishment of the Hereafter is far more disgracing, and they will not be helped.
وَنَجَّيْنَا اَلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَكَانُواْ يَتَّقُونَ﴿17﴾
ونجينا الذين ءامنوا وكانوا يتقون
As for Thamūd, We showed them guidance, but they preferred blindness over guidance. So they were seized by the blast of a debasing punishment for what they used to commit.
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ أَعْدَآءَ اَللَّهِ إِلَى اَلنَّارِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ﴿18﴾
ويوم نحشر أعداء الله إلى النار فهم يوزعون
And We saved those who believed and feared Allah.
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا مَا جَآءُوهَا شَهِدَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَأَبْصَٰرُهُمْ وَجُلُودُهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ﴿19﴾
حتى إذا ما جاءوها شهد عليهم سمعهم وأبصرهم وجلودهم بما كانوا يعملون
And [consider] the Day when Allah’s enemies will be gathered to the Fire, driven in rows.
وَقَالُواْ لِجُلُودِهِمْ لِمَ شَهِدتُّمْ عَلَيْنَا قَالُواْ أَنطَقَنَا اَللَّهُ اُلذِي أَنطَقَ كُلَّ شَيْءٖ وَهْوَ خَلَقَكُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٖ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ﴿20﴾
وقالوا لجلودهم لم شهدتم علينا قالوا أنطقنا الله الذي أنطق كل شيء وهو خلقكم أول مرة وإليه ترجعون
until when they reach it, their hearing, their sight and their skins will testify against them concerning what they used to do.
وَمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَتِرُونَ أَنْ يَّشْهَدَ عَلَيْكُمْ سَمْعُكُمْ وَلَا أَبْصَٰرُكُمْ وَلَا جُلُودُكُمْ وَلَٰكِن ظَنَنتُمْ أَنَّ اَللَّهَ لَا يَعْلَمُ كَثِيراٗ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ﴿21﴾
وما كنتم تستترون أن يشهد عليكم سمعكم ولا أبصركم ولا جلودكم ولكن ظننتم أن الله لا يعلم كثيرا مما تعملون
They will say to their skins, “Why did you testify against us?” They will say, “It is Allah Who made us to speak, the One Who made everything speak. It is He Who created you the first time, and to Him you will be returned.
وَذَٰلِكُمْ ظَنُّكُمُ اُلذِي ظَنَنتُم بِرَبِّكُمْ أَرْدَيٰكُمْ فَأَصْبَحْتُم مِّنَ اَلْخَٰسِرِينَ﴿22﴾
وذلكم ظنكم الذي ظننتم بربكم أرديكم فأصبحتم من الخسرين
You did not bother to hide yourselves [when committing sins] from your hearing, your sight, and your skins lest they testify against you; rather you thought that Allah does not know much of what you do.
فَإِنْ يَّصْبِرُواْ فَالنَّارُ مَثْوىٗ لَّهُمْ وَإِنْ يَّسْتَعْتِبُواْ فَمَا هُم مِّنَ اَلْمُعْتَبِينَ﴿23﴾
فإن يصبروا فالنار مثوى لهم وإن يستعتبوا فما هم من المعتبين
Such was your assumption that you entertained about your Lord that ruined you, so you became losers.”
وَقَيَّضْنَا لَهُمْ قُرَنَآءَ فَزَيَّنُواْ لَهُم مَّا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ اُلْقَوْلُ فِي أُمَمٖ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ اَلْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ خَٰسِرِينَ﴿24﴾
وقيضنا لهم قرناء فزينوا لهم ما بين أيديهم وما خلفهم وحق عليهم القول في أمم قد خلت من قبلهم من الجن والإنس إنهم كانوا خسرين
Even if they endure patiently, the Fire will still be their abode; and if they seek to make amends, they will not be allowed to do so.
وَقَالَ اَلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَا تَسْمَعُواْ لِهَٰذَا اَلْقُرْءَانِ وَالْغَوْاْ فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَغْلِبُونَ﴿25﴾
وقال الذين كفروا لا تسمعوا لهذا القرءان والغوا فيه لعلكم تغلبون
We assigned to them [evil] associates who made appealing to them what was before them and what was behind them, so the decree [of punishment] became due against them along with nations that passed before them of jinn and men, for indeed they were losers.
فَلَنُذِيقَنَّ اَلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ عَذَاباٗ شَدِيداٗ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَسْوَأَ اَلذِي كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ﴿26﴾
فلنذيقن الذين كفروا عذابا شديدا ولنجزينهم أسوأ الذي كانوا يعملون
Those who disbelieve say, “Do not listen to this Qur’an, but make noise [when it is recited], so that you may prevail.”
ذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ اَعْدَآءِ اِللَّهِ اِلنَّارُ لَهُمْ فِيهَا دَارُ اُلْخُلْدِ جَزَآءَ بِمَا كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ﴿27﴾
ذلك جزاء اعداء الله النار لهم فيها دار الخلد جزاء بما كانوا بـايتنا يجحدون
We will surely make those who disbelieve taste a severe punishment, and We will surely recompense them according to the worst of what they used to do.
وَقَالَ اَلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ رَبَّنَا أَرِنَا اَلذَيْنِ أَضَلَّٰنَا مِنَ اَلْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ نَجْعَلْهُمَا تَحْتَ أَقْدَامِنَا لِيَكُونَا مِنَ اَلْأَسْفَلِينَ﴿28﴾
وقال الذين كفروا ربنا أرنا الذين أضلنا من الجن والإنس نجعلهما تحت أقدامنا ليكونا من الأسفلين
Such is the recompense of the enemies of Allah: the Fire, which will be their eternal home, as a recompense for their rejection of Our verses.
إِنَّ اَلذِينَ قَالُواْ رَبُّنَا اَللَّهُ ثُمَّ اَسْتَقَٰمُواْ تَتَنَزَّلُ عَلَيْهِمُ اُلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ أَلَّا تَخَافُواْ وَلَا تَحْزَنُواْ وَأَبْشِرُواْ بِالْجَنَّةِ اِلتِي كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ﴿29﴾
إن الذين قالوا ربنا الله ثم استقموا تتنزل عليهم الملئكة ألا تخافوا ولا تحزنوا وأبشروا بالجنة التي كنتم توعدون
Those who disbelieved will say, “Our Lord, show us those jinn and men who led us astray; we will trample them under our feet, so that they become among the lowest.”
نَحْنُ أَوْلِيَآؤُكُمْ فِي اِلْحَيَوٰةِ اِلدُّنْيَا وَفِي اِلْأٓخِرَةِ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَشْتَهِي أَنفُسُكُمْ وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَا تَدَّعُونَ﴿30﴾
نحن أولياؤكم في الحيوة الدنيا وفي الأخرة ولكم فيها ما تشتهي أنفسكم ولكم فيها ما تدعون
Those who say, “Our Lord is Allah,” then remain steadfast, the angels will descend upon them[saying], “Do not fear, nor grieve, but receive glad tidings of Paradise which you were promised.
نُزُلاٗ مِّنْ غَفُورٖ رَّحِيمٖ﴿31﴾
نزلا من غفور رحيم
We are your allies in the life of this world and in the Hereafter. You will have therein whatever your souls desire, and you will have therein whatever you ask for,
وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ قَوْلاٗ مِّمَّن دَعَا إِلَى اَللَّهِ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحاٗ وَقَالَ إِنَّنِي مِنَ اَلْمُسْلِمِينَ﴿32﴾
ومن أحسن قولا ممن دعا إلى الله وعمل صلحا وقال إنني من المسلمين
as a hospitality from the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful One.”
وَلَا تَسْتَوِي اِلْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا اَلسَّيِّئَةُ اُدْفَعْ بِالتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ فَإِذَا اَلذِي بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُ عَدَٰوَةٞ كَأَنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ حَمِيمٞ﴿33﴾
ولا تستوي الحسنة ولا السيية ادفع بالتي هي أحسن فإذا الذي بينك وبينه عدوة كأنه ولي حميم
Who is better in speech than one who calls to Allah, does righteous deeds, and says, “I am one of the Muslims [submitting to Allah]”?
وَمَا يُلَقَّيٰهَا إِلَّا اَلذِينَ صَبَرُواْ وَمَا يُلَقَّيٰهَا إِلَّا ذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٖ﴿34﴾
وما يلقيها إلا الذين صبروا وما يلقيها إلا ذو حظ عظيم
Good and evil are not equal. Repel evil with what is good; the one whom you have enmity with will become as if he were a close friend.
وَإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ اَلشَّيْطَٰنِ نَزْغٞ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ إِنَّهُ هُوَ اَلسَّمِيعُ اُلْعَلِيمُ﴿35﴾
وإما ينزغنك من الشيطن نزغ فاستعذ بالله إنه هو السميع العليم
But none can attain this except those who are patient, and none can attain this except those who are greatly fortunate.
وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِ اِليْلُ وَالنَّهَارُ وَالشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ لَا تَسْجُدُواْ لِلشَّمْسِ وَلَا لِلْقَمَرِ وَاسْجُدُواْ لِلهِ اِلذِي خَلَقَهُنَّ إِن كُنتُمْ إِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَ﴿36﴾
ومن ءايته اليل والنهار والشمس والقمر لا تسجدوا للشمس ولا للقمر واسجدوا لله الذي خلقهن إن كنتم إياه تعبدون
If you are prompted by Satan’s provocation, seek refuge with Allah, for He is indeed the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
فَإِنِ اِسْتَكْبَرُواْ فَالذِينَ عِندَ رَبِّكَ يُسَبِّحُونَ لَهُ بِاليْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْـَٔمُونَ﴿37﴾
فإن استكبروا فالذين عند ربك يسبحون له باليل والنهار وهم لا يسـمون
Among His signs are the night and the day, the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if you truly worship Him
وَمِنْ ءَايَٰتِهِ أَنَّكَ تَرَى اَلْأَرْضَ خَٰشِعَةٗ فَإِذَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهَا اَلْمَآءَ اَهْتَزَّتْ وَرَبَتْ إِنَّ اَلذِي أَحْيَاهَا لَمُحْيِ اِلْمَوْتَىٰ إِنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٖ قَدِيرٌ﴿38﴾
ومن ءايته أنك ترى الأرض خشعة فإذا أنزلنا عليها الماء اهتزت وربت إن الذي أحياها لمحي الموتى إنه على كل شيء قدير
But if they show arrogance, then those [angels] who are with your Lord glorify Him night and day, and they never grow weary.
إِنَّ اَلذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِي ءَايَٰتِنَا لَا يَخْفَوْنَ عَلَيْنَا أَفَمَنْ يُّلْقَىٰ فِي اِلنَّارِ خَيْرٌ أَم مَّنْ يَّأْتِي ءَامِناٗ يَوْمَ اَلْقِيَٰمَةِ اِعْمَلُواْ مَا شِئْتُمْ إِنَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ﴿39﴾
إن الذين يلحدون في ءايتنا لا يخفون علينا أفمن يلقى في النار خير أم من يأتي ءامنا يوم القيمة اعملوا ما شيتم إنه بما تعملون بصير
And among His signs is that you see the land withered, but when We send down rain upon it, it stirs and swells. He Who gives it life will surely give life to the dead, for He is Most Capable of all things.
إِنَّ اَلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِالذِّكْرِ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ وَإِنَّهُ لَكِتَٰبٌ عَزِيزٞ﴿40﴾
إن الذين كفروا بالذكر لما جاءهم وإنه لكتب عزيز
Those who seek to cause deviation in Our verses are not hidden from Us. Is one who will be cast into the Fire better or one who will come safely on the Day of Resurrection? Do whatever you wish, for He is All-Seeing of what you do.
لَّا يَأْتِيهِ اِلْبَٰطِلُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلَا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ تَنزِيلٞ مِّنْ حَكِيمٍ حَمِيدٖ﴿41﴾
لا يأتيه البطل من بين يديه ولا من خلفه تنزيل من حكيم حميد
Those who disbelieve in the Reminder when it comes to them [will be punished], for it is truly a mighty Book.
مَّا يُقَالُ لَكَ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ قِيلَ لِلرُّسُلِ مِن قَبْلِكَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو مَغْفِرَةٖ وَذُو عِقَابٍ أَلِيمٖ﴿42﴾
ما يقال لك إلا ما قد قيل للرسل من قبلك إن ربك لذو مغفرة وذو عقاب أليم
No falsehood can approach it from the front or from behind; a revelation from the One Who is All-Wise, Praiseworthy.
وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَٰهُ قُرْءَاناً أَعْجَمِيّاٗ لَّقَالُواْ لَوْلَا فُصِّلَتْ ءَايَٰتُهُ ءَٰاعْجَمِيّٞ وَعَرَبِيّٞ قُلْ هُوَ لِلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ هُدىٗ وَشِفَآءٞ وَالذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ فِي ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَقْرٞ وَهْوَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَمىً أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يُنَادَوْنَ مِن مَّكَانِ بَعِيدٖ﴿43﴾
ولو جعلنه قرءانا أعجميا لقالوا لولا فصلت ءايته ءاعجمي وعربي قل هو للذين ءامنوا هدى وشفاء والذين لا يؤمنون في ءاذانهم وقر وهو عليهم عمى أولئك ينادون من مكان بعيد
Nothing is said to you [O Prophet] except what was already said to the messengers before you. Indeed, your Lord is All-Forgiving, but Severe in punishment.
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى اَلْكِتَٰبَ فَاخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٞ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَفِي شَكّٖ مِّنْهُ مُرِيبٖ﴿44﴾
ولقد ءاتينا موسى الكتب فاختلف فيه ولولا كلمة سبقت من ربك لقضي بينهم وإنهم لفي شك منه مريب
If We had made it a non-Arabic Qur’an, they would have said, “If only its verses were made clear? What! A non-Arabic [book] and an Arab [messenger]?” Say, “It is a guidance and healing for those who believe. As for those who do not believe, there is deafness in their ears and they are blind to [understand] it – it is as if they are being called from a far-off place.”
مَّنْ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحاٗ فَلِنَفْسِهِ وَمَنْ أَسَآءَ فَعَلَيْهَا وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِظَلَّٰمٖ لِّلْعَبِيدِ﴿45﴾
من عمل صلحا فلنفسه ومن أساء فعليها وما ربك بظلم للعبيد
We gave Moses the Scripture, but differences arose concerning it. Were it not for a prior decree from your Lord, it would have been judged between them. Surely they are in a disquieting doubt about it.
إِلَيْهِ يُرَدُّ عِلْمُ اُلسَّاعَةِ وَمَا تَخْرُجُ مِن ثَمَرَٰتٖ مِّنْ أَكْمَامِهَا وَمَا تَحْمِلُ مِنْ أُنثَىٰ وَلَا تَضَعُ إِلَّا بِعِلْمِهِ وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِي قَالُواْ ءَاذَنَّٰكَ مَا مِنَّا مِن شَهِيدٖ﴿46﴾
إليه يرد علم الساعة وما تخرج من ثمرت من أكمامها وما تحمل من أنثى ولا تضع إلا بعلمه ويوم يناديهم أين شركاءي قالوا ءاذنك ما منا من شهيد
Whoever does a righteous deed, it is to his own benefit; and whoever does an evil deed, it is to his own loss. Your Lord is not unjust to His slaves.
وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَدْعُونَ مِن قَبْلُ وَظَنُّواْ مَا لَهُم مِّن مَّحِيصٖ﴿47﴾
وضل عنهم ما كانوا يدعون من قبل وظنوا ما لهم من محيص
The knowledge of the Hour is with Him alone. No fruit emerges from its husk, nor does any female conceive or give birth without His knowledge. On the Day when He will call them, “Where are My [alleged] partners?” They will say, “We declare before you that none of us can bear witness to that.”
لَّا يَسْـَٔمُ اُلْإِنسَٰنُ مِن دُعَآءِ اِلْخَيْرِ وَإِن مَّسَّهُ اُلشَّرُّ فَيَـُٔوسٞ قَنُوطٞ﴿48﴾
لا يسـم الإنسن من دعاء الخير وإن مسه الشر فيـوس قنوط
Whatever they used to supplicate before will vanish from them, and they will realize that they have no escape.
وَلَئِنْ أَذَقْنَٰهُ رَحْمَةٗ مِّنَّا مِن بَعْدِ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ هَٰذَا لِي وَمَا أَظُنُّ اُلسَّاعَةَ قَآئِمَةٗ وَلَئِن رُّجِعْتُ إِلَىٰ رَبِّيَ إِنَّ لِي عِندَهُ لَلْحُسْنَىٰ فَلَنُنَبِّئَنَّ اَلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِمَا عَمِلُواْ وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٖ﴿49﴾
ولئن أذقنه رحمة منا من بعد ضراء مسته ليقولن هذا لي وما أظن الساعة قائمة ولئن رجعت إلى ربي إن لي عنده للحسنى فلننبين الذين كفروا بما عملوا ولنذيقنهم من عذاب غليظ
Man never tires of asking for good, but if evil touches him, he is desperate and despondent.
وَإِذَا أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى اَلْإِنسَٰنِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَـَٔا بِجَانِبِهِ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ اُلشَّرُّ فَذُو دُعَآءٍ عَرِيضٖ﴿50﴾
وإذا أنعمنا على الإنسن أعرض ونـا بجانبه وإذا مسه الشر فذو دعاء عريض
But if We give him a taste of mercy from Us after being inflicted with adversity, he will surely say, “This is my due, and I do not think that the Hour will ever come, but if I am brought back to my Lord, I will surely have with Him the best [reward].” We will surely inform the disbelievers of what they did, and We will surely make them taste a harsh punishment.
قُلْ أَرَٰيْتُمْ إِن كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ اِللَّهِ ثُمَّ كَفَرْتُم بِهِ مَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنْ هُوَ فِي شِقَاقِ بَعِيدٖ﴿51﴾
قل أريتم إن كان من عند الله ثم كفرتم به من أضل ممن هو في شقاق بعيد
When We bestow favor upon man, he turns away and distances himself [from Us]; but when evil touches him, he is full of prolonged supplication.
سَنُرِيهِمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا فِي اِلْأٓفَاقِ وَفِي أَنفُسِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُ اُلْحَقُّ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِ بِرَبِّكَ أَنَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٖ شَهِيدٌ﴿52﴾
سنريهم ءايتنا في الأفاق وفي أنفسهم حتى يتبين لهم أنه الحق أولم يكف بربك أنه على كل شيء شهيد
Say, “Did you ever consider, if this [Qur’an] is really from Allah, but you reject it, who can be more astray than someone who is in extreme defiance?”
أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ فِي مِرْيَةٖ مِّن لِّقَآءِ رَبِّهِمْ أَلَا إِنَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٖ مُّحِيطُ﴿53﴾
ألا إنهم في مرية من لقاء ربهم ألا إنه بكل شيء محيط
We will show them Our signs in the universe and in their own selves until it becomes clear to them that this [Qur’an] is the truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is a Witness over all things?
