أَلَٓرَ تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ اُلْكِتَٰبِ وَقُرْءَانٖ مُّبِينٖ﴿1﴾
ألر تلك ءايت الكتب وقرءان مبين
Alif Lām Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur’an.
رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ اُلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَوْ كَانُواْ مُسْلِمِينَ﴿2﴾
ربما يود الذين كفروا لو كانوا مسلمين
The disbelievers will soon wish that they were Muslims.
ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُواْ وَيَتَمَتَّعُواْ وَيُلْهِهِمُ اُلْأَمَلُ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ﴿3﴾
ذرهم يأكلوا ويتمتعوا ويلههم الأمل فسوف يعلمون
Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted with false hope; they will come to know.
وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٞ مَّعْلُومٞ﴿4﴾
وما أهلكنا من قرية إلا ولها كتاب معلوم
We never destroyed any town except that it had a destined time.
مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَٰٔخِرُونَ﴿5﴾
ما تسبق من أمة أجلها وما يستخرون
No nation can advance its appointed time, nor can they delay it.
وَقَالُواْ يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ اِلذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٞ﴿6﴾
وقالوا يأيها الذي نزل عليه الذكر إنك لمجنون
They say, “O you to whom the Reminder has been sent down, You are surely insane!
لَّوْمَا تَأْتِينَا بِالْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ اَلصَّٰدِقِينَ﴿7﴾
لوما تأتينا بالملئكة إن كنت من الصدقين
Why do you not bring us the angels, if you are truthful?”
مَا تَنَزَّلُ اُلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُواْ إِذاٗ مُّنظَرِينَ﴿8﴾
ما تنزل الملئكة إلا بالحق وما كانوا إذا منظرين
We do not send down the angels except for a just cause, and then [the disbelievers] would be granted no respite.
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا اَلذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَٰفِظُونَ﴿9﴾
إنا نحن نزلنا الذكر وإنا له لحفظون
It is We Who have sent down the Reminder, and it is We Who will preserve it.
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ اِلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿10﴾
ولقد أرسلنا من قبلك في شيع الأولين
We did send messengers before you among the factions of early peoples.
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُواْ بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ﴿11﴾
وما يأتيهم من رسول إلا كانوا به يستهزءون
No messenger came to them except that they ridiculed him.
كَذَٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ فِي قُلُوبِ اِلْمُجْرِمِينَ﴿12﴾
كذلك نسلكه في قلوب المجرمين
This is how We let this [denial] enter the hearts of the wicked.
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ اُلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿13﴾
لا يؤمنون به وقد خلت سنة الأولين
They will not believe in it, although the examples of the earlier people are well established.
وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَاباٗ مِّنَ اَلسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّواْ فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ﴿14﴾
ولو فتحنا عليهم بابا من السماء فظلوا فيه يعرجون
Even if We were to open for them a gateway to the heaven, through which they kept ascending,
لَقَالُواْ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَٰرُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٞ مَّسْحُورُونَ﴿15﴾
لقالوا إنما سكرت أبصرنا بل نحن قوم مسحورون
they would still say, “Our eyes have been dazzled; rather, we have been bewitched.”
وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِي اِلسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجاٗ وَزَيَّنَّٰهَا لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ﴿16﴾
ولقد جعلنا في السماء بروجا وزينها للنظرين
We have placed constellations in the heaven and adorned it for the onlookers,
وَحَفِظْنَٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٍ﴿17﴾
وحفظنها من كل شيطن رجيم
and We have guarded it from every accursed devil,
إِلَّا مَنِ اِسْتَرَقَ اَلسَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٞ مُّبِينٞ﴿18﴾
إلا من استرق السمع فأتبعه شهاب مبين
except the one who manages to eavesdrop, he will then be pursued by a visible burning flame.
وَالْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٖ مَّوْزُونٖ﴿19﴾
والأرض مددنها وألقينا فيها روسي وأنبتنا فيها من كل شيء موزون
As for the earth, We have spread it out and placed therein firm mountains, and caused to grow therein everything in due proportion.
وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهُ بِرَٰزِقِينَ﴿20﴾
وجعلنا لكم فيها معيش ومن لستم له برزقين
And We have made therein for you means of sustenance and for those whom you do not provide.
وَإِن مِّن شَيْءٍ إِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٖ مَّعْلُومٖ﴿21﴾
وإن من شيء إلا عندنا خزائنه وما ننزله إلا بقدر معلوم
There is nothing except that We have its treasuries, and We do not send it down except in a determined measure.
وَأَرْسَلْنَا اَلرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ اَلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُمُوهُ وَمَا أَنتُمْ لَهُ بِخَٰزِنِينَ﴿22﴾
وأرسلنا الريح لوقح فأنزلنا من السماء ماء فأسقينكموه وما أنتم له بخزنين
And We send fertilizing winds, and send down rain from the sky for you to drink, and it is not you who could store it.
وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْيِ وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ اُلْوَٰرِثُونَ﴿23﴾
وإنا لنحن نحي ونميت ونحن الورثون
Indeed, it is We Who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritors [of all things].
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا اَلْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا اَلْمُسْتَٰٔخِرِينَ﴿24﴾
ولقد علمنا المستقدمين منكم ولقد علمنا المستخرين
We surely know those of you who have gone before and those who are yet to come.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ إِنَّهُ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٞ﴿25﴾
وإن ربك هو يحشرهم إنه حكيم عليم
It is your Lord Who will gather them together. He is All-Wise, All-Knowing.
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا اَلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلْصَٰلٖ مِّنْ حَمَإٖ مَّسْنُونٖ﴿26﴾
ولقد خلقنا الإنسن من صلصل من حمإ مسنون
We have created man from sounding clay, made of aging mud.
وَالْجَآنَّ خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ اِلسَّمُومِ﴿27﴾
والجان خلقنه من قبل من نار السموم
And the jinn We created before that, from smokeless fire.
وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّي خَٰلِقُ بَشَراٗ مِّن صَلْصَٰلٖ مِّنْ حَمَإٖ مَّسْنُونٖ﴿28﴾
وإذ قال ربك للملئكة إني خلق بشرا من صلصل من حمإ مسنون
And [remember] when your Lord said to the angels, “I am going to create a human being from sounding clay, made of aging mud.
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُواْ لَهُ سَٰجِدِينَ﴿29﴾
فإذا سويته ونفخت فيه من روحي فقعوا له سجدين
When I have shaped him and breathed into him of My spirit, then fall down before him in prostration.”
فَسَجَدَ اَلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ﴿30﴾
فسجد الملئكة كلهم أجمعون
Thereupon, all of the angels fell down in prostration,
إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ أَنْ يَّكُونَ مَعَ اَلسَّٰجِدِينَ﴿31﴾
إلا إبليس أبى أن يكون مع السجدين
except for Iblīs, who refused to be with those who prostrated.
قَالَ يَٰإِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ اَلسَّٰجِدِينَ﴿32﴾
قال يإبليس ما لك ألا تكون مع السجدين
Allah said, “O Iblīs, what is the matter with you that you were not with those who prostrated?”
قَالَ لَمْ أَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُ مِن صَلْصَٰلٖ مِّنْ حَمَإٖ مَّسْنُونٖ﴿33﴾
قال لم أكن لأسجد لبشر خلقته من صلصل من حمإ مسنون
He said, “I am not such to prostrate before a human whom You created from sounding clay, made of aging mud.”
قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٞ﴿34﴾
قال فاخرج منها فإنك رجيم
He said, “Then get out of here, for you are accursed,
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ اَللَّعْنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ اِلدِّينِ﴿35﴾
وإن عليك اللعنة إلى يوم الدين
and the curse will be upon you until the Day of Judgment.”
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ﴿36﴾
قال رب فأنظرني إلى يوم يبعثون
Iblīs said, “My Lord, then grant me respite until the Day they are resurrected.”
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ اَلْمُنظَرِينَ﴿37﴾
قال فإنك من المنظرين
Allah said, “You are of those who are granted respite,
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ اِلْوَقْتِ اِلْمَعْلُومِ﴿38﴾
إلى يوم الوقت المعلوم
until the Day of the Appointed Time.”
قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَا أَغْوَيْتَنِي لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ﴿39﴾
قال رب بما أغويتني لأزينن لهم في الأرض ولأغوينهم أجمعين
He said, “My Lord, since You have sent me astray, I will surely make [sins] alluring to them on earth and mislead them all,
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ اُلْمُخْلَصِينَ﴿40﴾
إلا عبادك منهم المخلصين
except for Your chosen slaves among them.”
قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ﴿41﴾
قال هذا صرط علي مستقيم
Allah said, “This is a straight path leading to Me.
إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنٌ إِلَّا مَنِ اِتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ اَلْغَاوِينَ﴿42﴾
إن عبادي ليس لك عليهم سلطن إلا من اتبعك من الغاوين
You will have no authority over My slaves, except the deviants who follow you.
وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ﴿43﴾
وإن جهنم لموعدهم أجمعين
And Hell is certainly the promised place for them, all together.
لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَٰبٖ لِّكُلِّ بَابٖ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٞ مَّقْسُومٌ﴿44﴾
لها سبعة أبوب لكل باب منهم جزء مقسوم
It has seven gates; each gate will have its allotted share of them.”
إِنَّ اَلْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّٰتٖ وَعُيُونٍ﴿45﴾
إن المتقين في جنت وعيون
The righteous will be in gardens and springs.
اُدْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٍ ءَامِنِينَ﴿46﴾
ادخلوها بسلم ءامنين
“Enter in peace and safety!”
وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّ إِخْوَٰناً عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ﴿47﴾
ونزعنا ما في صدورهم من غل إخونا على سرر متقبلين
We will remove all ill feelings from their hearts; like brothers, seated on couches facing one another.
لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٞ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ﴿48﴾
لا يمسهم فيها نصب وما هم منها بمخرجين
No fatigue will ever touch them therein, nor will they ever be made to leave.
نَبِّئْ عِبَادِيَ أَنِّيَ أَنَا اَلْغَفُورُ اُلرَّحِيمُ﴿49﴾
نبي عبادي أني أنا الغفور الرحيم
Inform My slaves that I am indeed the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful,
وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ اَلْعَذَابُ اُلْأَلِيمُ﴿50﴾
وأن عذابي هو العذاب الأليم
and that My punishment is the most painful punishment.
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ﴿51﴾
ونبيهم عن ضيف إبرهيم
And inform them about the guests of Abraham.
إِذْ دَخَلُواْ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُواْ سَلَٰماٗ قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَ﴿52﴾
إذ دخلوا عليه فقالوا سلما قال إنا منكم وجلون
When they entered upon him and said, “Peace!” He said, “We are afraid of you.”
قَالُواْ لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٖ﴿53﴾
قالوا لا توجل إنا نبشرك بغلم عليم
They said, “Do not be afraid; We give you glad tidings of a knowledgeable boy.”
قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِي عَلَىٰ أَن مَّسَّنِيَ اَلْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونِ﴿54﴾
قال أبشرتموني على أن مسني الكبر فبم تبشرون
He said, “Do you give me glad tidings despite my old age? What glad tidings are you giving me?”
قَالُواْ بَشَّرْنَٰكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ اَلْقَٰنِطِينَ﴿55﴾
قالوا بشرنك بالحق فلا تكن من القنطين
They said, “We have given you glad tidings in truth, so do not be of those who despair.”
قَالَ وَمَنْ يَّقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِ إِلَّا اَلضَّآلُّونَ﴿56﴾
قال ومن يقنط من رحمة ربه إلا الضالون
He said, “Who would despair of his Lord’s mercy except those who are misguided?”
قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا اَلْمُرْسَلُونَ﴿57﴾
قال فما خطبكم أيها المرسلون
He said, “So, what is your mission, O messengers?”
قَالُواْ إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمٖ مُّجْرِمِينَ﴿58﴾
قالوا إنا أرسلنا إلى قوم مجرمين
They said, “We have been sent to a wicked people,
إِلَّا ءَالَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ﴿59﴾
إلا ءال لوط إنا لمنجوهم أجمعين
except the household of Lot; we will surely save them all,
إِلَّا اَمْرَأَتَهُ قَدَّرْنَا إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ اَلْغَٰبِرِينَ﴿60﴾
إلا امرأته قدرنا إنها لمن الغبرين
except his wife; We have decreed that she will be among those who stay behind.”
فَلَمَّا جَا ءَالَ لُوطٍ اِلْمُرْسَلُونَ﴿61﴾
فلما جا ءال لوط المرسلون
When the messengers came to the household of Lot,
قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٞ مُّنكَرُونَ﴿62﴾
قال إنكم قوم منكرون
he said, “You are unfamiliar people.”
قَالُواْ بَلْ جِئْنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ﴿63﴾
قالوا بل جينك بما كانوا فيه يمترون
They said, “We have come to you with that [punishment] which they have doubted.
وَأَتَيْنَٰكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ﴿64﴾
وأتينك بالحق وإنا لصدقون
We have come to you with the truth, and we are certainly truthful.
فَاسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٖ مِّنَ اَليْلِ وَاتَّبِعْ أَدْبَٰرَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٞ وَامْضُواْ حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ﴿65﴾
فاسر بأهلك بقطع من اليل واتبع أدبرهم ولا يلتفت منكم أحد وامضوا حيث تؤمرون
So travel with your household in the dark of night and go behind them; none of you should look back, and keep going to where you are commanded.”
وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ اَلْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰؤُلَآءِ مَقْطُوعٞ مُّصْبِحِينَ﴿66﴾
وقضينا إليه ذلك الأمر أن دابر هؤلاء مقطوع مصبحين
We conveyed this decree to him that these [people] will be exterminated by early morning.”
وَجَا أَهْلُ اُلْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ﴿67﴾
وجا أهل المدينة يستبشرون
The people of the city came [to Lot] rejoicing.
قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَآءِ ضَيْفِي فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ﴿68﴾
قال إن هؤلاء ضيفي فلا تفضحون
Lot said, “These are my guests, so do not bring shame on me.
وَاتَّقُواْ اُللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ﴿69﴾
واتقوا الله ولا تخزون
Fear Allah and do not disgrace me.”
قَالُواْ أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ اِلْعَٰلَمِينَ﴿70﴾
قالوا أولم ننهك عن العلمين
They said, “Did we not forbid you from [protecting] people?”
قَالَ هَٰؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِيَ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَ﴿71﴾
قال هؤلاء بناتي إن كنتم فعلين
He said, “These are my daughters [to marry], if you must.”
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ﴿72﴾
لعمرك إنهم لفي سكرتهم يعمهون
By your life [O prophet], they were wandering blindly in their intoxication [of lust].
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ اُلصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ﴿73﴾
فأخذتهم الصيحة مشرقين
So they were seized by the blast at sunrise,
فَجَعَلْنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةٗ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ﴿74﴾
فجعلنا عليها سافلها وأمطرنا عليهم حجارة من سجيل
and We turned their cities upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay.
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ﴿75﴾
إن في ذلك لأيت للمتوسمين
Indeed, there are signs in this for those who discern.
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٖ مُّقِيمٍ﴿76﴾
وإنها لبسبيل مقيم
And their place is located by a known route.
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿77﴾
إن في ذلك لأية للمؤمنين
Indeed, there are signs in this for the believers.
وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَٰبُ اُلْأَيْكَةِ لَظَٰلِمِينَ﴿78﴾
وإن كان أصحب الأيكة لظلمين
And the people of the Forest were wrongdoers.
فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٖ مُّبِينٖ﴿79﴾
فانتقمنا منهم وإنهما لبإمام مبين
So We punished them in retribution, and both [places] are by a clear highway.
وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَٰبُ اُلْحِجْرِ اِلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿80﴾
ولقد كذب أصحب الحجر المرسلين
Surely the people of Al-Hijr also rejected the messengers.
وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَكَانُواْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ﴿81﴾
وءاتينهم ءايتنا فكانوا عنها معرضين
We gave them Our signs, but they kept turning away from them.
وَكَانُواْ يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ اَلْجِبَالِ بِيُوتاً ءَامِنِينَ﴿82﴾
وكانوا ينحتون من الجبال بيوتا ءامنين
They carved houses in the mountains, feeling secure.
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ اُلصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ﴿83﴾
فأخذتهم الصيحة مصبحين
So they were seized by the blast early in the morning.
فَمَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَ﴿84﴾
فما أغنى عنهم ما كانوا يكسبون
Nothing of what they earned was of any avail to them.
وَمَا خَلَقْنَا اَلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ اَلسَّاعَةَ لَأٓتِيَةٞ فَاصْفَحِ اِلصَّفْحَ اَلْجَمِيلَ﴿85﴾
وما خلقنا السموت والأرض وما بينهما إلا بالحق وإن الساعة لأتية فاصفح الصفح الجميل
We have not created the heavens and earth and all that is between them except for a true purpose. The Hour is certainly coming, so bear with them graciously.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ اَلْخَلَّٰقُ اُلْعَلِيمُ﴿86﴾
إن ربك هو الخلق العليم
Indeed, your Lord is the Absolute Creator, the All-Knowing.
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَٰكَ سَبْعاٗ مِّنَ اَلْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْءَانَ اَلْعَظِيمَ﴿87﴾
ولقد ءاتينك سبعا من المثاني والقرءان العظيم
We have surely given you the seven oft-repeated verses and the great Qur’an.
لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَٰجاٗ مِّنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿88﴾
لا تمدن عينيك إلى ما متعنا به أزوجا منهم ولا تحزن عليهم واخفض جناحك للمؤمنين
Do not look longingly at the pleasures We have given certain classes of them, nor grieve over them, but lower your wing [in humility] to the believers.
وَقُلْ إِنِّيَ أَنَا اَلنَّذِيرُ اُلْمُبِينُ﴿89﴾
وقل إني أنا النذير المبين
And say, “I am indeed a clear warner.” –
كَمَا أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى اَلْمُقْتَسِمِينَ﴿90﴾
كما أنزلنا على المقتسمين
just as We sent down [punishment] upon those who divided [their religion],
اَلذِينَ جَعَلُواْ اُلْقُرْءَانَ عِضِينَ﴿91﴾
الذين جعلوا القرءان عضين
those who split the Qur’an into different portions.
فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ﴿92﴾
فوربك لنسـلنهم أجمعين
By your Lord, We will surely question them all
عَمَّا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ﴿93﴾
عما كانوا يعملون
concerning what they used to do.
فَاصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ اِلْمُشْرِكِينَ﴿94﴾
فاصدع بما تؤمر وأعرض عن المشركين
Then proclaim what you are commanded, and turn away from those who associate partners with Allah.
إِنَّا كَفَيْنَٰكَ اَلْمُسْتَهْزِءِينَ﴿95﴾
إنا كفينك المستهزءين
We will surely suffice you against the mockers,
اَلذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ اَللَّهِ إِلَٰهاً ءَاخَرَ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ﴿96﴾
الذين يجعلون مع الله إلها ءاخر فسوف يعلمون
those who set up beside Allah another god; they will come to know.
وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ﴿97﴾
ولقد نعلم أنك يضيق صدرك بما يقولون
We know that you are distressed by what they say.
فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ اَلسَّٰجِدِينَ﴿98﴾
فسبح بحمد ربك وكن من السجدين
So glorify your Lord with praise and be among those who prostrate [to Him],
وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ اَلْيَقِينُ﴿99﴾
واعبد ربك حتى يأتيك اليقين
and worship your Lord until the certainty [of death] comes to you.
