إِذَا اَلسَّمَآءُ اُنشَقَّتْ﴿1﴾
إذا السماء انشقت
When the sky is rent asunder,
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ﴿2﴾
وأذنت لربها وحقت
and hearkens to its Lord, as it must,
وَإِذَا اَلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ﴿3﴾
وإذا الأرض مدت
and when the earth is leveled out,
وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ﴿4﴾
وألقت ما فيها وتخلت
and casts out all what it contains, and becomes empty,
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ﴿5﴾
وأذنت لربها وحقت
and hearkens to its Lord, as it must,
يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلْإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحاٗ فَمُلَٰقِيهِ﴿6﴾
يأيها الإنسن إنك كادح إلى ربك كدحا فملقيه
O humans, you are toiling towards your Lord, and you will surely meet Him.
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ﴿7﴾
فأما من أوتي كتبه بيمينه
Whoever is given his Record in his right hand,
فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَاباٗ يَسِيراٗ﴿8﴾
فسوف يحاسب حسابا يسيرا
he will have an easy reckoning,
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُوراٗ﴿9﴾
وينقلب إلى أهله مسرورا
and he will return to his people joyfully.
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِ﴿10﴾
وأما من أوتي كتبه وراء ظهره
But whoever is given his Record from behind his back,
فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُواْ ثُبُوراٗ﴿11﴾
فسوف يدعوا ثبورا
he will call out for destruction,
وَيُصَلَّىٰ سَعِيراً﴿12﴾
ويصلى سعيرا
and he will enter the Blazing Fire.
إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُوراً﴿13﴾
إنه كان في أهله مسرورا
Indeed, he used to live among his people joyfully.
إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ أَن لَّنْ يَّحُورَ﴿14﴾
إنه ظن أن لن يحور
and he thought that he would never return [to Allah].
بَلَىٰ إِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيراٗ﴿15﴾
بلى إن ربه كان به بصيرا
Indeed he will! His Lord was always watching him.
فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ﴿16﴾
فلا أقسم بالشفق
Indeed, I swear by the twilight,
وَاليْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ﴿17﴾
واليل وما وسق
and by the night and what it covers,
وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اَتَّسَقَ﴿18﴾
والقمر إذا اتسق
and by the moon when it becomes full,
لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقاً عَن طَبَقٖ﴿19﴾
لتركبن طبقا عن طبق
You will surely pass from one stage to another.
فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿20﴾
فما لهم لا يؤمنون
Then what is the matter with them that they do not believe,
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ اُلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ﴿21﴾
وإذا قري عليهم القرءان لا يسجدون
and when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not prostrate?
بَلِ اِلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ﴿22﴾
بل الذين كفروا يكذبون
Rather, the disbelievers persist in denying it,
وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ﴿23﴾
والله أعلم بما يوعون
but Allah knows best whatever they harbor in their hearts.
فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ﴿24﴾
فبشرهم بعذاب أليم
So give them the tidings of a painful punishment.
إِلَّا اَلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونِ﴿25﴾
إلا الذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت لهم أجر غير ممنون
But those who believe and do righteous deeds will have a never-ending reward.
