الجِن

قُلْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ اُسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٞ مِّنَ اَلْجِنِّ فَقَالُواْ إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْءَاناً عَجَباٗ﴿1﴾

قل أوحي إلي أنه استمع نفر من الجن فقالوا إنا سمعنا قرءانا عجبا

Say, “It has been revealed to me that a group of jinn listened [to the Qur’an,] and they said, ‘Indeed, we have heard a wondrous recitation

يَهْدِي إِلَى اَلرُّشْدِ فَـَٔامَنَّا بِهِ وَلَن نُّشْرِكَ بِرَبِّنَا أَحَداٗ﴿2﴾

يهدي إلى الرشد فـامنا به ولن نشرك بربنا أحدا

that guides to the right way, so we have believed in it, and we will never associate anyone with our Lord.

وَإِنَّهُ تَعَٰلَىٰ جَدُّ رَبِّنَا مَا اَتَّخَذَ صَٰحِبَةٗ وَلَا وَلَداٗ﴿3﴾

وإنه تعلى جد ربنا ما اتخذ صحبة ولا ولدا

And that He – our exalted and glorified Lord – has neither taken a wife nor a child;

وَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ سَفِيهُنَا عَلَى اَللَّهِ شَطَطاٗ﴿4﴾

وإنه كان يقول سفيهنا على الله شططا

and that the fool among us [i.e., Satan] used to say outrageous things about Allah,

وَإِنَّا ظَنَنَّا أَن لَّن تَقُولَ اَلْإِنسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَى اَللَّهِ كَذِباٗ﴿5﴾

وإنا ظننا أن لن تقول الإنس والجن على الله كذبا

although we thought that humans and jinn would never tell lies about Allah.

وَإِنَّهُ كَانَ رِجَالٞ مِّنَ اَلْإِنسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٖ مِّنَ اَلْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقاٗ﴿6﴾

وإنه كان رجال من الإنس يعوذون برجال من الجن فزادوهم رهقا

And there were some men who used to seek refuge with some jinn, but they only increased them in burden.

وَإِنَّهُمْ ظَنُّواْ كَمَا ظَنَنتُمْ أَن لَّنْ يَّبْعَثَ اَللَّهُ أَحَداٗ﴿7﴾

وإنهم ظنوا كما ظننتم أن لن يبعث الله أحدا

They thought, just like you [jinn] thought that Allah would never send any messenger.

وَإِنَّا لَمَسْنَا اَلسَّمَآءَ فَوَجَدْنَٰهَا مُلِئَتْ حَرَساٗ شَدِيداٗ وَشُهُباٗ﴿8﴾

وإنا لمسنا السماء فوجدنها مليت حرسا شديدا وشهبا

We have sought to reach heaven but found it filled with stern guards and flaming fire.

وَإِنَّا كُنَّا نَقْعُدُ مِنْهَا مَقَٰعِدَ لِلسَّمْعِ فَمَنْ يَّسْتَمِعِ اِلْأٓنَ يَجِدْ لَهُ شِهَاباٗ رَّصَداٗ﴿9﴾

وإنا كنا نقعد منها مقعد للسمع فمن يستمع الأن يجد له شهابا رصدا

We used to take up positions there for eavesdropping, but now anyone who eavesdrops will find a flaming fire waiting for him.

وَإِنَّا لَا نَدْرِي أَشَرٌّ أُرِيدَ بِمَن فِي اِلْأَرْضِ أَمْ أَرَادَ بِهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ رَشَداٗ﴿10﴾

وإنا لا ندري أشر أريد بمن في الأرض أم أراد بهم ربهم رشدا

We do not know whether evil is intended for those on earth, or their Lord intends good for them.

وَإِنَّا مِنَّا اَلصَّٰلِحُونَ وَمِنَّا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ كُنَّا طَرَآئِقَ قِدَداٗ﴿11﴾

وإنا منا الصلحون ومنا دون ذلك كنا طرائق قددا

Among us are some who are righteous and some who are otherwise, for we follow divergent ways.

وَإِنَّا ظَنَنَّا أَن لَّن نُّعْجِزَ اَللَّهَ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ وَلَن نُّعْجِزَهُ هَرَباٗ﴿12﴾

وإنا ظننا أن لن نعجز الله في الأرض ولن نعجزه هربا

We have realized that we can never escape Allah on earth, nor can we ever escape Him by fleeing.

وَإِنَّا لَمَّا سَمِعْنَا اَلْهُدَىٰ ءَامَنَّا بِهِ فَمَنْ يُّؤْمِن بِرَبِّهِ فَلَا يَخَافُ بَخْساٗ وَلَا رَهَقاٗ﴿13﴾

وإنا لما سمعنا الهدى ءامنا به فمن يؤمن بربه فلا يخاف بخسا ولا رهقا

When we heard the guidance [of the Qur’an], we believed in it. Whoever believes in his Lord will have no fear of curtailment [from his reward] or injustice.

وَإِنَّا مِنَّا اَلْمُسْلِمُونَ وَمِنَّا اَلْقَٰسِطُونَ فَمَنْ أَسْلَمَ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ تَحَرَّوْاْ رَشَداٗ﴿14﴾

وإنا منا المسلمون ومنا القسطون فمن أسلم فأولئك تحروا رشدا

Among us are some who are Muslims and some who are deviant. Those who accepted Islam have sought the true guidance,

وَأَمَّا اَلْقَٰسِطُونَ فَكَانُواْ لِجَهَنَّمَ حَطَباٗ﴿15﴾

وأما القسطون فكانوا لجهنم حطبا

but those who are deviant, they will be fuel for Hell.’”

وَأَن لَّوِ اِسْتَقَٰمُواْ عَلَى اَلطَّرِيقَةِ لَأَسْقَيْنَٰهُم مَّآءً غَدَقاٗ﴿16﴾

وأن لو استقموا على الطريقة لأسقينهم ماء غدقا

“If they had remained steadfast on the right way, We would have given them abundant rain,

لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِ وَمَنْ يُّعْرِضْ عَن ذِكْرِ رَبِّهِ نَسْلُكْهُ عَذَاباٗ صَعَداٗ﴿17﴾

لنفتنهم فيه ومن يعرض عن ذكر ربه نسلكه عذابا صعدا

as a test for them. But whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will make him suffer an arduous punishment.

وَأَنَّ اَلْمَسَٰجِدَ لِلهِ فَلَا تَدْعُواْ مَعَ اَللَّهِ أَحَداٗ﴿18﴾

وأن المسجد لله فلا تدعوا مع الله أحدا

The mosques are for Allah alone, so do not supplicate anyone along with Allah.

وَإِنَّهُ لَمَّا قَامَ عَبْدُ اُللَّهِ يَدْعُوهُ كَادُواْ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِ لِبَداٗ﴿19﴾

وإنه لما قام عبد الله يدعوه كادوا يكونون عليه لبدا

Yet when the slave of Allah stood up supplicating Him, they swarmed around him.”

قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَدْعُواْ رَبِّي وَلَا أُشْرِكُ بِهِ أَحَداٗ﴿20﴾

قال إنما أدعوا ربي ولا أشرك به أحدا

Say [O Prophet], “I only supplicate my Lord and I do not associate anyone with Him.”

قُلْ إِنِّي لَا أَمْلِكُ لَكُمْ ضَرّاٗ وَلَا رَشَداٗ﴿21﴾

قل إني لا أملك لكم ضرا ولا رشدا

Say, “I have no power to harm or benefit you.”

قُلْ إِنِّي لَنْ يُّجِيرَنِي مِنَ اَللَّهِ أَحَدٞ وَلَنْ أَجِدَ مِن دُونِهِ مُلْتَحَداً﴿22﴾

قل إني لن يجيرني من الله أحد ولن أجد من دونه ملتحدا

Say, “None can ever protect me from Allah [if I should disobey Him], nor can I ever find refuge except in Him.

إِلَّا بَلَٰغاٗ مِّنَ اَللَّهِ وَرِسَٰلَٰتِهِ وَمَنْ يَّعْصِ اِللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَإِنَّ لَهُ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَداً﴿23﴾

إلا بلغا من الله ورسلته ومن يعص الله ورسوله فإن له نار جهنم خلدين فيها أبدا

I only convey what I receive from Allah and His messages.” And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger will certainly be in the Fire of Hell, abiding therein forever.

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا رَأَوْاْ مَا يُوعَدُونَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ أَضْعَفُ نَاصِراٗ وَأَقَلُّ عَدَداٗ﴿24﴾

حتى إذا رأوا ما يوعدون فسيعلمون من أضعف ناصرا وأقل عددا

Until when they see what they were promised, they will realize who is weaker in helpers and fewer in number.

قُلْ إِنْ أَدْرِي أَقَرِيبٞ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ أَمْ يَجْعَلُ لَهُ رَبِّيَ أَمَداً﴿25﴾

قل إن أدري أقريب ما توعدون أم يجعل له ربي أمدا

Say, “I do not know if what you are promised is near or my Lord has appointed a distant time for it.

عَٰلِمُ اُلْغَيْبِ فَلَا يُظْهِرُ عَلَىٰ غَيْبِهِ أَحَداً﴿26﴾

علم الغيب فلا يظهر على غيبه أحدا

[He is] the Knower of the unseen, He does not reveal His unseen to anyone,

إِلَّا مَنِ اِرْتَضَىٰ مِن رَّسُولٖ فَإِنَّهُ يَسْلُكُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ رَصَداٗ﴿27﴾

إلا من ارتضى من رسول فإنه يسلك من بين يديه ومن خلفه رصدا

except the messenger whom He chooses, then He appoints angel-guards before him and behind him

لِّيَعْلَمَ أَن قَدْ أَبْلَغُواْ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَأَحَاطَ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ وَأَحْصَىٰ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عَدَداَ﴿28﴾

ليعلم أن قد أبلغوا رسلت ربهم وأحاط بما لديهم وأحصى كل شيء عددا

to ensure that the messengers fully conveyed the messages of their Lord. He encompasses in His knowledge all about them, and keeps count of all things.”
