اِلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ اِللَّهِ أَضَلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ﴿1﴾
الذين كفروا وصدوا عن سبيل الله أضل أعملهم
Those who disbelieve and prevent others from Allah’s way, He will render their deeds void.
وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَءَامَنُواْ بِمَا نُزِّلَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٖ وَهْوَ اَلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ كَفَّرَ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَأَصْلَحَ بَالَهُمْ﴿2﴾
والذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت وءامنوا بما نزل على محمد وهو الحق من ربهم كفر عنهم سيـاتهم وأصلح بالهم
As for those who believe, do righteous deeds, and believe in what has been sent down to Muhammad – which is the truth from their Lord – He will absolve them of their sins and set their condition right.
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ اَلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ اُتَّبَعُواْ اُلْبَٰطِلَ وَأَنَّ اَلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ اُتَّبَعُواْ اُلْحَقَّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ كَذَٰلِكَ يَضْرِبُ اُللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ أَمْثَٰلَهُمْ﴿3﴾
ذلك بأن الذين كفروا اتبعوا البطل وأن الذين ءامنوا اتبعوا الحق من ربهم كذلك يضرب الله للناس أمثلهم
That is because the disbelievers follow falsehood, whereas the believers follow the truth from their Lord. This is how Allah explains to people their comparisons.
فَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُ اُلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَضَرْبَ اَلرِّقَابِ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَثْخَنتُمُوهُمْ فَشُدُّواْ اُلْوَثَاقَ فَإِمَّا مَنّاَ بَعْدُ وَإِمَّا فِدَآءً حَتَّىٰ تَضَعَ اَلْحَرْبُ أَوْزَارَهَا﴿4﴾
فإذا لقيتم الذين كفروا فضرب الرقاب حتى إذا أثخنتموهم فشدوا الوثاق فإما منا بعد وإما فداء حتى تضع الحرب أوزارها
When you encounter the disbelievers [in battle], strike [their] necks until you have thoroughly subdued them, then bind the captives firmly. Later [you may free them] as a favor or for ransom until the war comes to an end. That [is Our command], if Allah had willed, He could have subjected them to punishment, but [He ordered you to fight] to test some of you by means of others. Those who are killed in the way of Allah, He will never render their deeds void.
ذَٰلِكَ وَلَوْ يَشَآءُ اُللَّهُ لَانتَصَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَلَٰكِن لِّيَبْلُوَاْ بَعْضَكُم بِبَعْضٖ وَالذِينَ قَٰتَلُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ اِللَّهِ فَلَنْ يُّضِلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ﴿5﴾
ذلك ولو يشاء الله لانتصر منهم ولكن ليبلوا بعضكم ببعض والذين قتلوا في سبيل الله فلن يضل أعملهم
He will guide them, and will set their condition right,
سَيَهْدِيهِمْ وَيُصْلِحُ بَالَهُمْ﴿6﴾
سيهديهم ويصلح بالهم
and He will admit them to Paradise, which He has already made known to them.
وَيُدْخِلُهُمُ اُلْجَنَّةَ عَرَّفَهَا لَهُمْ﴿7﴾
ويدخلهم الجنة عرفها لهم
O you who believe, if you stand up for Allah, He will help you and make your steps firm.
يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ إِن تَنصُرُواْ اُللَّهَ يَنصُرْكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَكُمْ﴿8﴾
يأيها الذين ءامنوا إن تنصروا الله ينصركم ويثبت أقدامكم
As for those who disbelieve, how wretched will be their state! And He will render their deeds void.
وَالذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَتَعْساٗ لَّهُمْ وَأَضَلَّ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ﴿9﴾
والذين كفروا فتعسا لهم وأضل أعملهم
That is because they detest what Allah has sent down, so He rendered their deeds worthless.
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَرِهُواْ مَا أَنزَلَ اَللَّهُ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ﴿10﴾
ذلك بأنهم كرهوا ما أنزل الله فأحبط أعملهم
Have they not traveled through the land to see what was the end of those before them? Allah destroyed them utterly, and a similar end awaits the disbelievers.
أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُواْ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُلذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ دَمَّرَ اَللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَ أَمْثَٰلُهَا﴿11﴾
أفلم يسيروا في الأرض فينظروا كيف كان عقبة الذين من قبلهم دمر الله عليهم وللكفرين أمثلها
That is because Allah is the Protector of the believers whereas the disbelievers have no protector.
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ اَللَّهَ مَوْلَى اَلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَأَنَّ اَلْكَٰفِرِينَ لَا مَوْلَىٰ لَهُمْ﴿12﴾
ذلك بأن الله مولى الذين ءامنوا وأن الكفرين لا مولى لهم
Allah will surely admit those who believe and do righteous deeds to gardens under which rivers flow. As for those who disbelieve, they enjoy themselves [in this world] and they eat as cattle eat; their final abode is the Fire.
إِنَّ اَللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ اُلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا اَلْأَنْهَٰرُ وَالذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يَتَمَتَّعُونَ وَيَأْكُلُونَ كَمَا تَأْكُلُ اُلْأَنْعَٰمُ وَالنَّارُ مَثْوىٗ لَّهُمْ﴿13﴾
إن الله يدخل الذين ءامنوا وعملوا الصلحت جنت تجري من تحتها الأنهر والذين كفروا يتمتعون ويأكلون كما تأكل الأنعم والنار مثوى لهم
How many towns We destroyed that were more powerful than your town that expelled you, and there was none to help them!
وَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ هِيَ أَشَدُّ قُوَّةٗ مِّن قَرْيَتِكَ اَلتِي أَخْرَجَتْكَ أَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ فَلَا نَاصِرَ لَهُمْ﴿14﴾
وكأين من قرية هي أشد قوة من قريتك التي أخرجتك أهلكنهم فلا ناصر لهم
Are those who possess clear proof from their Lord like those whose evil deeds are made appealing to them and who follow their own desires?
أَفَمَن كَانَ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّهِ كَمَن زُيِّنَ لَهُ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِ وَاتَّبَعُواْ أَهْوَآءَهُم﴿15﴾
أفمن كان على بينة من ربه كمن زين له سوء عمله واتبعوا أهواءهم
The likeness of Paradise promised to the righteous is that of a [garden which has] rivers of fresh water; rivers of milk the taste of which never changes; rivers of wine delicious to drink; and rivers of pure honey. They will have therein all kinds of fruit and forgiveness from their Lord. Can they be like those who will abide in the Fire forever, and will be given boiling water to drink that tears apart their intestines?
مَّثَلُ اُلْجَنَّةِ اِلتِي وُعِدَ اَلْمُتَّقُونَ فِيهَا أَنْهَٰرٞ مِّن مَّآءٍ غَيْرِ ءَاسِنٖ وَأَنْهَٰرٞ مِّن لَّبَنٖ لَّمْ يَتَغَيَّرْ طَعْمُهُ وَأَنْهَٰرٞ مِّنْ خَمْرٖ لَّذَّةٖ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ وَأَنْهَٰرٞ مِّنْ عَسَلٖ مُّصَفّىٗ وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ اِلثَّمَرَٰتِ وَمَغْفِرَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ كَمَنْ هُوَ خَٰلِدٞ فِي اِلنَّارِ وَسُقُواْ مَآءً حَمِيماٗ فَقَطَّعَ أَمْعَآءَهُمْ﴿16﴾
مثل الجنة التي وعد المتقون فيها أنهر من ماء غير ءاسن وأنهر من لبن لم يتغير طعمه وأنهر من خمر لذة للشربين وأنهر من عسل مصفى ولهم فيها من كل الثمرت ومغفرة من ربهم كمن هو خلد في النار وسقوا ماء حميما فقطع أمعاءهم
Among these [hypocrites] are some who listen to you [O Prophet], but when they leave your presence, they say to those who were given knowledge, “What did he just say?” It is they whose hearts Allah has sealed up and who follow their desires.
وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ يَّسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا خَرَجُواْ مِنْ عِندِكَ قَالُواْ لِلذِينَ أُوتُواْ اُلْعِلْمَ مَاذَا قَالَ ءَانِفاً أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ اَلذِينَ طَبَعَ اَللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَاتَّبَعُواْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ﴿17﴾
ومنهم من يستمع إليك حتى إذا خرجوا من عندك قالوا للذين أوتوا العلم ماذا قال ءانفا أولئك الذين طبع الله على قلوبهم واتبعوا أهواءهم
As for those who follow guidance, He increases them in guidance and blesses them with righteousness.
وَالذِينَ اَهْتَدَوْاْ زَادَهُمْ هُدىٗ وَءَاتَيٰهُمْ تَقْوَيٰهُمْ﴿18﴾
والذين اهتدوا زادهم هدى وءاتيهم تقويهم
Are they but waiting for the Hour to come upon them by surprise? Already [some of] its signs have appeared. What good will it do them to take heed when it actually befalls them?
فَهَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا اَلسَّاعَةَ أَن تَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةٗ فَقَدْ جَا أَشْرَاطُهَا فَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمْ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ذِكْرَيٰهُمْ﴿19﴾
فهل ينظرون إلا الساعة أن تأتيهم بغتة فقد جا أشراطها فأنى لهم إذا جاءتهم ذكريهم
Then know [O Prophet] that none has the right to be worshiped except Allah, and seek forgiveness for your sins and for the [the sins of] the believing men and women, for Allah knows your movements and your places of rest.
فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اَللَّهُ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مُتَقَلَّبَكُمْ وَمَثْوَيٰكُمْ﴿20﴾
فاعلم أنه لا إله إلا الله واستغفر لذنبك وللمؤمنين والمؤمنت والله يعلم متقلبكم ومثويكم
Those who believe say, “If only a Chapter were sent down [about fighting]? But when a precise Chapter is sent down and fighting is mentioned therein, you see those in whose hearts is sickness looking at you like someone who is about to die. It would have been better for them
وَيَقُولُ اُلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَتْ سُورَةٞ فَإِذَا أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٞ مُّحْكَمَةٞ وَذُكِرَ فِيهَا اَلْقِتَالُ رَأَيْتَ اَلذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٞ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ نَظَرَ اَلْمَغْشِيِّ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ اَلْمَوْتِ فَأَوْلَىٰ لَهُمْ﴿21﴾
ويقول الذين ءامنوا لولا نزلت سورة فإذا أنزلت سورة محكمة وذكر فيها القتال رأيت الذين في قلوبهم مرض ينظرون إليك نظر المغشي عليه من الموت فأولى لهم
to obey and say good words. Once the fighting was ordained, it would be better for them to be truthful to Allah.
طَاعَةٞ وَقَوْلٞ مَّعْرُوفٞ فَإِذَا عَزَمَ اَلْأَمْرُ فَلَوْ صَدَقُواْ اُللَّهَ لَكَانَ خَيْراٗ لَّهُمْ﴿22﴾
طاعة وقول معروف فإذا عزم الأمر فلو صدقوا الله لكان خيرا لهم
Then if you turn away, what else can be expected but that you will spread corruption in the land and sever your ties of kinship?
فَهَلْ عَسِيتُمْ إِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ أَن تُفْسِدُواْ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ وَتُقَطِّعُواْ أَرْحَامَكُمْ﴿23﴾
فهل عسيتم إن توليتم أن تفسدوا في الأرض وتقطعوا أرحامكم
These are the ones whom Allah has cursed and has made them deaf and blinded their sight.
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ اَلذِينَ لَعَنَهُمُ اُللَّهُ فَأَصَمَّهُمْ وَأَعْمَىٰ أَبْصَٰرَهُمْ﴿24﴾
أولئك الذين لعنهم الله فأصمهم وأعمى أبصرهم
Do they not reflect upon the Qur’an, or are there locks upon their hearts?
أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ اَلْقُرْءَانَ أَمْ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَا﴿25﴾
أفلا يتدبرون القرءان أم على قلوب أقفالها
Indeed, those who turn back [to disbelief] after guidance had become clear to them, it is Satan who has tempted them and deceived them with false hopes of a long life.
إِنَّ اَلذِينَ اَرْتَدُّواْ عَلَىٰ أَدْبَٰرِهِم مِّن بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ اُلْهُدَى اَلشَّيْطَٰنُ سَوَّلَ لَهُمْ وَأَمْلَىٰ لَهُمْ﴿26﴾
إن الذين ارتدوا على أدبرهم من بعد ما تبين لهم الهدى الشيطن سول لهم وأملى لهم
That is because they say to those who hate what Allah has sent down, “We will obey you in some matters.” But Allah knows their secret schemes.
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُواْ لِلذِينَ كَرِهُواْ مَا نَزَّلَ اَللَّهُ سَنُطِيعُكُمْ فِي بَعْضِ اِلْأَمْرِ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ أَسْرَارَهُمْ﴿27﴾
ذلك بأنهم قالوا للذين كرهوا ما نزل الله سنطيعكم في بعض الأمر والله يعلم أسرارهم
How will they feel when the angels take their souls, striking their faces and their backs?
فَكَيْفَ إِذَا تَوَفَّتْهُمُ اُلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَٰرَهُمْ﴿28﴾
فكيف إذا توفتهم الملئكة يضربون وجوههم وأدبرهم
That is because they follow what incurs Allah’s wrath and they hate what pleases Him, so He will render their deeds worthless.
ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ اُتَّبَعُواْ مَا أَسْخَطَ اَللَّهَ وَكَرِهُواْ رِضْوَٰنَهُ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ﴿29﴾
ذلك بأنهم اتبعوا ما أسخط الله وكرهوا رضونه فأحبط أعملهم
Do those in whose hearts is sickness think that Allah will never expose their malice?
أَمْ حَسِبَ اَلذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ أَن لَّنْ يُّخْرِجَ اَللَّهُ أَضْغَٰنَهُمْ﴿30﴾
أم حسب الذين في قلوبهم مرض أن لن يخرج الله أضغنهم
If We willed, We could show them to you [O Prophet], so you would recognize them by their faces, but you will surely recognize them by the manner of their speech. And Allah knows all what you do.
وَلَوْ نَشَآءُ لَأَرَيْنَٰكَهُمْ فَلَعَرَفْتَهُم بِسِيمَٰهُمْ وَلَتَعْرِفَنَّهُمْ فِي لَحْنِ اِلْقَوْلِ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ﴿31﴾
ولو نشاء لأرينكهم فلعرفتهم بسيمهم ولتعرفنهم في لحن القول والله يعلم أعملكم
We will certainly test you so as to reveal those of you who struggle [in Allah’s way] and remain patient, and We will test the sincerity of your assertions.
وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ حَتَّىٰ نَعْلَمَ اَلْمُجَٰهِدِينَ مِنكُمْ وَالصَّٰبِرِينَ وَنَبْلُوَاْ أَخْبَارَكُمْ﴿32﴾
ولنبلونكم حتى نعلم المجهدين منكم والصبرين ونبلوا أخباركم
Those who disbelieve and prevent others from Allah’s way, and oppose the Messenger after guidance had become clear to them, they will never harm Allah in the least, and He will render their deeds worthless.
إِنَّ اَلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ اِللَّهِ وَشَآقُّواْ اُلرَّسُولَ مِن بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ اُلْهُدَىٰ لَنْ يَّضُرُّواْ اُللَّهَ شَئْاٗ وَسَيُحْبِطُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ﴿33﴾
إن الذين كفروا وصدوا عن سبيل الله وشاقوا الرسول من بعد ما تبين لهم الهدى لن يضروا الله شيا وسيحبط أعملهم
O you who believe, obey Allah and obey the Messenger, and do not cause your deeds to be nullified.
يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ أَطِيعُواْ اُللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُواْ اُلرَّسُولَ وَلَا تُبْطِلُواْ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ﴿34﴾
يأيها الذين ءامنوا أطيعوا الله وأطيعوا الرسول ولا تبطلوا أعملكم
Those who disbelieve and prevent others from Allah’s way, and then die as disbelievers, Allah will never forgive them.
إِنَّ اَلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ اِللَّهِ ثُمَّ مَاتُواْ وَهُمْ كُفَّارٞ فَلَنْ يَّغْفِرَ اَللَّهُ لَهُمْ﴿35﴾
إن الذين كفروا وصدوا عن سبيل الله ثم ماتوا وهم كفار فلن يغفر الله لهم
Do not lose heart or call for peace, for you will have the upper hand and Allah is with you. And He will never detract [the reward of] your deeds.
فَلَا تَهِنُواْ وَتَدْعُواْ إِلَى اَلسَّلْمِ وَأَنتُمُ اُلْأَعْلَوْنَ وَاللَّهُ مَعَكُمْ وَلَنْ يَّتِرَكُمْ أَعْمَٰلَكُمْ﴿36﴾
فلا تهنوا وتدعوا إلى السلم وأنتم الأعلون والله معكم ولن يتركم أعملكم
The life of this world is only play and amusement. But if you believe and fear Allah, He will give you your rewards, and He does not ask you for all your wealth.
إِنَّمَا اَلْحَيَوٰةُ اُلدُّنْيَا لَعِبٞ وَلَهْوٞ وَإِن تُؤْمِنُواْ وَتَتَّقُواْ يُؤْتِكُمْ أُجُورَكُمْ وَلَا يَسْـَٔلْكُمْ أَمْوَٰلَكُمْ﴿37﴾
إنما الحيوة الدنيا لعب ولهو وإن تؤمنوا وتتقوا يؤتكم أجوركم ولا يسـلكم أمولكم
If He were to ask you for it and insist that you give it, you would greedily withhold, and He would expose your resentment [for spending].
إِنْ يَّسْـَٔلْكُمُوهَا فَيُحْفِكُمْ تَبْخَلُواْ وَيُخْرِجْ أَضْغَٰنَكُمْ﴿38﴾
إن يسـلكموها فيحفكم تبخلوا ويخرج أضغنكم
O you who are being called to spend in Allah’s way; among you are some who greedily withhold, but whoever withholds, he in fact withholds against himself, for Allah is the Self-Sufficient, whereas you are in need [of Him]. If you turn away, He will replace you with other people, then they will not be like you.
هَٰانتُمْ هَٰؤُلَآءِ تُدْعَوْنَ لِتُنفِقُواْ فِي سَبِيلِ اِللَّهِ فَمِنكُم مَّنْ يَّبْخَلُ وَمَنْ يَّبْخَلْ فَإِنَّمَا يَبْخَلُ عَن نَّفْسِهِ وَاللَّهُ اُلْغَنِيُّ وَأَنتُمُ اُلْفُقَرَآءُ وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوْاْ يَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْماً غَيْرَكُمْ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُواْ أَمْثَٰلَكُم﴿39﴾
هانتم هؤلاء تدعون لتنفقوا في سبيل الله فمنكم من يبخل ومن يبخل فإنما يبخل عن نفسه والله الغني وأنتم الفقراء وإن تتولوا يستبدل قوما غيركم ثم لا يكونوا أمثلكم
