قَدْ أَفْلَحَ اَلْمُؤْمِنُونَ﴿1﴾
قد أفلح المؤمنون
The believers have attained true success:
اَلذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ خَٰشِعُونَ﴿2﴾
الذين هم في صلاتهم خشعون
those who humble themselves in their prayers,
وَالذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ اِللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ﴿3﴾
والذين هم عن اللغو معرضون
and those who turn away from all that is vain,
وَالذِينَ هُمْ لِلزَّكَوٰةِ فَٰعِلُونَ﴿4﴾
والذين هم للزكوة فعلون
and those who give zakah,
وَالذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَٰفِظُونَ﴿5﴾
والذين هم لفروجهم حفظون
and those who guard their sexual desires,
إِلَّا عَلَىٰ أَزْوَٰجِهِمْ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَ﴿6﴾
إلا على أزوجهم أو ما ملكت أيمنهم فإنهم غير ملومين
except with their wives or slave women they may own, for then they are free of blame.
فَمَنِ اِبْتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُلْعَادُونَ﴿7﴾
فمن ابتغى وراء ذلك فأولئك هم العادون
But whoever seeks anything beyond that, it is they who are the transgressors.
وَالذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَٰنَٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَ﴿8﴾
والذين هم لأمنتهم وعهدهم رعون
And those who are faithful to their trusts and pledges,
وَالذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَٰتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ﴿9﴾
والذين هم على صلوتهم يحافظون
and those who properly observe their prayers.
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُلْوَٰرِثُونَ﴿10﴾
أولئك هم الورثون
Such will be the inheritors,
اَلذِينَ يَرِثُونَ اَلْفِرْدَوْسَ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ﴿11﴾
الذين يرثون الفردوس هم فيها خلدون
who will inherit Paradise; they will abide therein forever.
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا اَلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن سُلَٰلَةٖ مِّن طِينٖ﴿12﴾
ولقد خلقنا الإنسن من سللة من طين
We created man from an extract of clay,
ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَٰهُ نُطْفَةٗ فِي قَرَارٖ مَّكِينٖ﴿13﴾
ثم جعلنه نطفة في قرار مكين
then We placed him as a sperm-drop in a safe place,
ثُمَّ خَلَقْنَا اَلنُّطْفَةَ عَلَقَةٗ فَخَلَقْنَا اَلْعَلَقَةَ مُضْغَةٗ فَخَلَقْنَا اَلْمُضْغَةَ عِظَٰماٗ فَكَسَوْنَا اَلْعِظَٰمَ لَحْماٗ ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَٰهُ خَلْقاً ءَاخَرَ فَتَبَٰرَكَ اَللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ اُلْخَٰلِقِينَ﴿14﴾
ثم خلقنا النطفة علقة فخلقنا العلقة مضغة فخلقنا المضغة عظما فكسونا العظم لحما ثم أنشأنه خلقا ءاخر فتبرك الله أحسن الخلقين
then We made the sperm drop into a clinging clot, then We made the clinging clot into a lump, then We made the lump into bones, and We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We developed it into another creation. So Blessed is Allah, the Best of Creators.
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَيِّتُونَ﴿15﴾
ثم إنكم بعد ذلك لميتون
Then after that you will surely die,
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ يَوْمَ اَلْقِيَٰمَةِ تُبْعَثُونَ﴿16﴾
ثم إنكم يوم القيمة تبعثون
then on the Day of Resurrection, you will surely be resurrected.
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعَ طَرَآئِقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ اِلْخَلْقِ غَٰفِلِينَ﴿17﴾
ولقد خلقنا فوقكم سبع طرائق وما كنا عن الخلق غفلين
We have created above you seven levels [of heaven], and We have never been unaware of Our creation.
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ اَلسَّمَآءِ مَآءَ بِقَدَرٖ فَأَسْكَنَّٰهُ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابِ بِهِ لَقَٰدِرُونَ﴿18﴾
وأنزلنا من السماء ماء بقدر فأسكنه في الأرض وإنا على ذهاب به لقدرون
We send down water from the sky in due measure and cause it to stay in the earth, and We are surely able to take it away.
فَأَنشَأْنَا لَكُم بِهِ جَنَّٰتٖ مِّن نَّخِيلٖ وَأَعْنَٰبٖ لَّكُمْ فِيهَا فَوَٰكِهُ كَثِيرَةٞ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ﴿19﴾
فأنشأنا لكم به جنت من نخيل وأعنب لكم فيها فوكه كثيرة ومنها تأكلون
With this [water] We produce for you gardens of palm trees and grapevines, in which there are many fruits from which you eat,
وَشَجَرَةٗ تَخْرُجُ مِن طُورِ سِينَآءَ تَنبُتُ بِالدُّهْنِ وَصِبْغٖ لِّلْأٓكِلِينَ﴿20﴾
وشجرة تخرج من طور سيناء تنبت بالدهن وصبغ للأكلين
and [olive] tree that grows at Mount Sinai, producing oil and condiments for those who eat.
وَإِنَّ لَكُمْ فِي اِلْأَنْعَٰمِ لَعِبْرَةٗ نَّسْقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِي بُطُونِهَا وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُ كَثِيرَةٞ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ﴿21﴾
وإن لكم في الأنعم لعبرة نسقيكم مما في بطونها ولكم فيها منفع كثيرة ومنها تأكلون
And there is certainly a lesson for you in livestock animals. We provide you with a drink out of what they have in their bellies, and for you there are many benefits in them, and from their [meat] you eat,
وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى اَلْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ﴿22﴾
وعليها وعلى الفلك تحملون
and on them and on boats you are carried.
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ اِعْبُدُواْ اُللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ﴿23﴾
ولقد أرسلنا نوحا إلى قومه فقال يقوم اعبدوا الله ما لكم من إله غيره أفلا تتقون
We sent Noah to his people. He said, “O my people, worship Allah; you have no god other than Him. Will you not then fear Him?”
فَقَالَ اَلْمَلَؤُاْ اُلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَوْمِهِ مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَّتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَوْ شَآءَ اَللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَٰٓئِكَةٗ مَّا سَمِعْنَا بِهَٰذَا فِي ءَابَآئِنَا اَلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿24﴾
فقال الملؤا الذين كفروا من قومه ما هذا إلا بشر مثلكم يريد أن يتفضل عليكم ولو شاء الله لأنزل ملئكة ما سمعنا بهذا في ءابائنا الأولين
The disbelieving chiefs of his people said, “This is only a man like yourselves who wants to be superior to you. If Allah had willed, He could have sent down angels. We have not heard such a thing from our forefathers.
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلُ بِهِ جِنَّةٞ فَتَرَبَّصُواْ بِهِ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖ﴿25﴾
إن هو إلا رجل به جنة فتربصوا به حتى حين
He is just a madman, so bear with him for a while.”
قَالَ رَبِّ اِنصُرْنِي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ﴿26﴾
قال رب انصرني بما كذبون
Noah said, “My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me.”
فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ أَنِ اِصْنَعِ اِلْفُلْكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَا فَإِذَا جَا أَمْرُنَا وَفَارَ اَلتَّنُّورُ فَاسْلُكْ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجَيْنِ اِثْنَيْنِ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ اِلْقَوْلُ مِنْهُمْ وَلَا تُخَٰطِبْنِي فِي اِلذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ إِنَّهُم مُّغْرَقُونَ﴿27﴾
فأوحينا إليه أن اصنع الفلك بأعيننا ووحينا فإذا جا أمرنا وفار التنور فاسلك فيها من كل زوجين اثنين وأهلك إلا من سبق عليه القول منهم ولا تخطبني في الذين ظلموا إنهم مغرقون
So We inspired him [saying], “Make the Ark under Our Eyes and according to Our directions. Then when Our command comes and the oven bursts with water, take on board a pair of each species and your family, except those against whom the decree has already been passed. And do not plead with Me concerning those who have done wrong, for they will surely be drowned.”
فَإِذَا اَسْتَوَيْتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى اَلْفُلْكِ فَقُلِ اِلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ اِلذِي نَجَّيٰنَا مِنَ اَلْقَوْمِ اِلظَّٰلِمِينَ﴿28﴾
فإذا استويت أنت ومن معك على الفلك فقل الحمد لله الذي نجينا من القوم الظلمين
Then when you and those who are with you have embarked on the Ark, say, “All praise is for Allah, Who saved us from the wrongdoing people.”
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَنزِلْنِي مُنزَلاٗ مُّبَٰرَكاٗ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ اُلْمُنزِلِينَ﴿29﴾
وقل رب أنزلني منزلا مبركا وأنت خير المنزلين
And say: “My Lord, make my landing a blessed landing, for You provide the best landing’”.
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ وَإِن كُنَّا لَمُبْتَلِينَ﴿30﴾
إن في ذلك لأيت وإن كنا لمبتلين
Indeed, there are signs in this, and We always put people to the test.
ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْناً ءَاخَرِينَ﴿31﴾
ثم أنشأنا من بعدهم قرنا ءاخرين
Then We raised up after them another generation,
فَأَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ رَسُولاٗ مِّنْهُمْ أَنُ اُعْبُدُواْ اُللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ﴿32﴾
فأرسلنا فيهم رسولا منهم أن اعبدوا الله ما لكم من إله غيره أفلا تتقون
and We sent to them a messenger from among themselves [saying], “Worship Allah; you have no god other than Him. Will you not then fear Him?”
وَقَالَ اَلْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِهِ اِلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَكَذَّبُواْ بِلِقَآءِ اِلْأٓخِرَةِ وَأَتْرَفْنَٰهُمْ فِي اِلْحَيَوٰةِ اِلدُّنْيَا مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثْلُكُمْ يَأْكُلُ مِمَّا تَأْكُلُونَ مِنْهُ وَيَشْرَبُ مِمَّا تَشْرَبُونَ﴿33﴾
وقال الملأ من قومه الذين كفروا وكذبوا بلقاء الأخرة وأترفنهم في الحيوة الدنيا ما هذا إلا بشر مثلكم يأكل مما تأكلون منه ويشرب مما تشربون
But the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made affluent in the life of this world, said, “He is no more than a man like yourselves; he eats what you eat and drinks what you drink.
وَلَئِنْ أَطَعْتُم بَشَراٗ مِّثْلَكُمْ إِنَّكُمْ إِذاٗ لَّخَٰسِرُونَ﴿34﴾
ولئن أطعتم بشرا مثلكم إنكم إذا لخسرون
If you obey a man like yourselves, you will surely be losers.
أَيَعِدُكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ إِذَا مِتُّمْ وَكُنتُمْ تُرَاباٗ وَعِظَٰماً أَنَّكُم مُّخْرَجُونَ﴿35﴾
أيعدكم أنكم إذا متم وكنتم ترابا وعظما أنكم مخرجون
Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones, you will be brought forth?
هَيْهَاتَ هَيْهَاتَ لِمَا تُوعَدُونَ﴿36﴾
هيهات هيهات لما توعدون
Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are promised!
إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا اَلدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ﴿37﴾
إن هي إلا حياتنا الدنيا نموت ونحيا وما نحن بمبعوثين
There is nothing except our life in this world; we die, others are born, and none will be resurrected.
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ اِفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى اَللَّهِ كَذِباٗ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَهُ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿38﴾
إن هو إلا رجل افترى على الله كذبا وما نحن له بمؤمنين
He is no more than a man who has fabricated lies about Allah, and we will never believe in him.”
قَالَ رَبِّ اِنصُرْنِي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ﴿39﴾
قال رب انصرني بما كذبون
Noah said, “My Lord, help me for they have rejected me.”
قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلٖ لَّيُصْبِحُنَّ نَٰدِمِينَ﴿40﴾
قال عما قليل ليصبحن ندمين
Allah said, “In a little while they will surely be regretful.”
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ اُلصَّيْحَةُ بِالْحَقِّ فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ غُثَآءٗ فَبُعْداٗ لِّلْقَوْمِ اِلظَّٰلِمِينَ﴿41﴾
فأخذتهم الصيحة بالحق فجعلنهم غثاء فبعدا للقوم الظلمين
So the huge blast overtook them in all justice, and We swept them away like scum. So away with the wrongdoing people!
ثُمَّ أَنشَأْنَا مِن بَعْدِهِمْ قُرُوناً ءَاخَرِينَ﴿42﴾
ثم أنشأنا من بعدهم قرونا ءاخرين
Then We raised after them other generations.
مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَٰٔخِرُونَ﴿43﴾
ما تسبق من أمة أجلها وما يستخرون
No nation can bring its appointed time forward, nor can it delay it.
ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتْرَا كُلَّ مَا جَآءَ امَّةٗ رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُ فَأَتْبَعْنَا بَعْضَهُم بَعْضاٗ وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ أَحَادِيثَ فَبُعْداٗ لِّقَوْمٖ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿44﴾
ثم أرسلنا رسلنا تترا كل ما جاء امة رسولها كذبوه فأتبعنا بعضهم بعضا وجعلنهم أحاديث فبعدا لقوم لا يؤمنون
Then We sent Our messengers in succession: every time a messenger came to his people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them, one after the others, and made them mere tales. Away with the people who refuse to believe!
ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَٰرُونَ﴿45﴾
ثم أرسلنا موسى وأخاه هرون
Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and compelling proof
بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَسُلْطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٍ﴿46﴾
بـايتنا وسلطن مبين
to Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they showed arrogance and were haughty people.
إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِ فَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ وَكَانُواْ قَوْماً عَالِينَ﴿47﴾
إلى فرعون وملإيه فاستكبروا وكانوا قوما عالين
They said, “Should we believe in two men like ourselves when their people are our slaves?”
فَقَالُواْ أَنُؤْمِنُ لِبَشَرَيْنِ مِثْلِنَا وَقَوْمُهُمَا لَنَا عَٰبِدُونَ﴿48﴾
فقالوا أنؤمن لبشرين مثلنا وقومهما لنا عبدون
So they rejected them both and were among those who were destroyed.
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُواْ مِنَ اَلْمُهْلَكِينَ﴿49﴾
فكذبوهما فكانوا من المهلكين
We gave Moses the Scripture so that they might be guided.
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى اَلْكِتَٰبَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَ﴿50﴾
ولقد ءاتينا موسى الكتب لعلهم يهتدون
We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them on a hillside – a place of rest and a flowing stream.
وَجَعَلْنَا اَبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُ ءَايَةٗ وَءَاوَيْنَٰهُمَا إِلَىٰ رُبْوَةٖ ذَاتِ قَرَارٖ وَمَعِينٖ﴿51﴾
وجعلنا ابن مريم وأمه ءاية وءاوينهما إلى ربوة ذات قرار ومعين
O messengers, eat from the lawful things and act righteously, for I am All-Knowing of what you do.
يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلرُّسُلُ كُلُواْ مِنَ اَلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَاعْمَلُواْ صَٰلِحاً إِنِّي بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٞ﴿52﴾
يأيها الرسل كلوا من الطيبت واعملوا صلحا إني بما تعملون عليم
Indeed, this religion of yours is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me.
وَأَنَّ هَٰذِهِ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗ وَأَنَا رَبُّكُمْ فَاتَّقُونِ﴿53﴾
وأن هذه أمتكم أمة وحدة وأنا ربكم فاتقون
But people split up their religion into factions, each faction rejoicing in what it has.
فَتَقَطَّعُواْ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ زُبُراٗ كُلُّ حِزْبِ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ﴿54﴾
فتقطعوا أمرهم بينهم زبرا كل حزب بما لديهم فرحون
So leave them in their heedlessness for a while.
فَذَرْهُمْ فِي غَمْرَتِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ﴿55﴾
فذرهم في غمرتهم حتى حين
Do they think that what We give them wealth and children,
أَيَحْسِبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُم بِهِ مِن مَّالٖ وَبَنِينَ﴿56﴾
أيحسبون أنما نمدهم به من مال وبنين
that We hasten to them all that is good? No, but they do not perceive it.
نُسَارِعُ لَهُمْ فِي اِلْخَيْرَٰتِ بَل لَّا يَشْعُرُونَ﴿57﴾
نسارع لهم في الخيرت بل لا يشعرون
Those who are in awe for fear of their Lord,
إِنَّ اَلذِينَ هُم مِّنْ خَشْيَةِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ﴿58﴾
إن الذين هم من خشية ربهم مشفقون
and those who believe in the verses of their Lord,
وَالذِينَ هُم بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿59﴾
والذين هم بـايت ربهم يؤمنون
and those who do not associate partners with their Lord,
وَالذِينَ هُم بِرَبِّهِمْ لَا يُشْرِكُونَ﴿60﴾
والذين هم بربهم لا يشركون
and those who do whatever [good] they do with their hearts fearful, knowing that they will return to their Lord –
وَالذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا ءَاتَواْ وَّقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ رَٰجِعُونَ﴿61﴾
والذين يؤتون ما ءاتوا وقلوبهم وجلة أنهم إلى ربهم رجعون
it is they who hasten to do good deeds, and they are foremost in them.
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِي اِلْخَيْرَٰتِ وَهُمْ لَهَا سَٰبِقُونَ﴿62﴾
أولئك يسرعون في الخيرت وهم لها سبقون
We do not burden a soul more than what it can bear. We have a Record [of their deeds] that tells the truth, and none will be wronged.
وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْساً إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا وَلَدَيْنَا كِتَٰبٞ يَنطِقُ بِالْحَقِّ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ﴿63﴾
ولا نكلف نفسا إلا وسعها ولدينا كتب ينطق بالحق وهم لا يظلمون
But their hearts are oblivious to this, and they have other [evil] deeds that they are doing.
بَلْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فِي غَمْرَةٖ مِّنْ هَٰذَا وَلَهُمْ أَعْمَٰلٞ مِّن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ هُمْ لَهَا عَٰمِلُونَ﴿64﴾
بل قلوبهم في غمرة من هذا ولهم أعمل من دون ذلك هم لها عملون
But as soon as We seize their affluent ones with punishment, they start crying for help.
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَخَذْنَا مُتْرَفِيهِم بِالْعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمْ يَجْـَٔرُونَ﴿65﴾
حتى إذا أخذنا مترفيهم بالعذاب إذا هم يجـرون
“Do not cry for help today, for you will receive no help from Us.
لَا تَجْـَٔرُواْ اُلْيَوْمَ إِنَّكُم مِّنَّا لَا تُنصَرُونَ﴿66﴾
لا تجـروا اليوم إنكم منا لا تنصرون
My verses were recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels,
قَدْ كَانَتْ ءَايَٰتِي تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُمْ عَلَىٰ أَعْقَٰبِكُمْ تَنكِصُونَ﴿67﴾
قد كانت ءايتي تتلى عليكم فكنتم على أعقبكم تنكصون
feeling proud of this [Sacred House], spending night in evil talks [about the Qur’an].”
مُسْتَكْبِرِينَ بِهِ سَٰمِراٗ تُهْجِرُونَ﴿68﴾
مستكبرين به سمرا تهجرون
Have they not pondered the Words [of Allah], or has there come to them what did not come to their forefathers?
أَفَلَمْ يَدَّبَّرُواْ اُلْقَوْلَ أَمْ جَآءَهُم مَّا لَمْ يَأْتِ ءَابَآءَهُمُ اُلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿69﴾
أفلم يدبروا القول أم جاءهم ما لم يأت ءاباءهم الأولين
Or is it that they do not recognize their Messenger, so they deny him?
أَمْ لَمْ يَعْرِفُواْ رَسُولَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَهُ مُنكِرُونَ﴿70﴾
أم لم يعرفوا رسولهم فهم له منكرون
Or do they say, “There is madness in him?” Rather, he has come to them with the truth, but most of them are averse to the truth.
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ بِهِ جِنَّةُ بَلْ جَآءَهُم بِالْحَقِّ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لِلْحَقِّ كَٰرِهُونَ﴿71﴾
أم يقولون به جنة بل جاءهم بالحق وأكثرهم للحق كرهون
Were the Truth to follow their desires, the heavens and earth, and all those who are therein would have been ruined. In fact, We have given them their Reminder, but they are averse to their Reminder.
وَلَوِ اِتَّبَعَ اَلْحَقُّ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ لَفَسَدَتِ اِلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّ بَلْ أَتَيْنَٰهُم بِذِكْرِهِمْ فَهُمْ عَن ذِكْرِهِم مُّعْرِضُونَ﴿72﴾
ولو اتبع الحق أهواءهم لفسدت السموت والأرض ومن فيهن بل أتينهم بذكرهم فهم عن ذكرهم معرضون
Or do you ask them for some reward? But the reward of your Lord is best, and He is the Best of Providers.
أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ خَرْجاٗ فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٞ وَهْوَ خَيْرُ اُلرَّٰزِقِينَ﴿73﴾
أم تسـلهم خرجا فخراج ربك خير وهو خير الرزقين
Indeed, you are calling them to a straight path,
وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسْتَقِيمٖ﴿74﴾
وإنك لتدعوهم إلى صرط مستقيم
but those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviating from that path.
وَإِنَّ اَلذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْأٓخِرَةِ عَنِ اِلصِّرَٰطِ لَنَٰكِبُونَ﴿75﴾
وإن الذين لا يؤمنون بالأخرة عن الصرط لنكبون
Even if We were to show them mercy and relieve their adversity, they would still persist in their transgression, wandering blindly.
وَلَوْ رَحِمْنَٰهُمْ وَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرّٖ لَّلَجُّواْ فِي طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ﴿76﴾
ولو رحمنهم وكشفنا ما بهم من ضر للجوا في طغينهم يعمهون
We have already seized them with punishment, but they did not humble themselves to their Lord, nor did they supplicate in humility,
وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَٰهُم بِالْعَذَابِ فَمَا اَسْتَكَانُواْ لِرَبِّهِمْ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ﴿77﴾
ولقد أخذنهم بالعذاب فما استكانوا لربهم وما يتضرعون
until when We open for them a gateway of severe punishment, they will be plunged into utter despair.
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَاباٗ ذَا عَذَابٖ شَدِيدٍ إِذَا هُمْ فِيهِ مُبْلِسُونَ﴿78﴾
حتى إذا فتحنا عليهم بابا ذا عذاب شديد إذا هم فيه مبلسون
It is He Who gave you hearing, sight and hearts. How little you give thanks!
وَهْوَ اَلذِي أَنشَأَ لَكُمُ اُلسَّمْعَ وَالْأَبْصَٰرَ وَالْأَفْـِٕدَةَ قَلِيلاٗ مَّا تَشْكُرُونَ﴿79﴾
وهو الذي أنشأ لكم السمع والأبصر والأفـدة قليلا ما تشكرون
And it is He Who spread you on earth, and to Him you will all be gathered.
وَهْوَ اَلذِي ذَرَأَكُمْ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ﴿80﴾
وهو الذي ذرأكم في الأرض وإليه تحشرون
It is He Who gives life and causes death, and to Him belongs the alternation of night and day. Do you not understand?
وَهْوَ اَلذِي يُحْيِ وَيُمِيتُ وَلَهُ اُخْتِلَٰفُ اُليْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ﴿81﴾
وهو الذي يحي ويميت وله اختلف اليل والنهار أفلا تعقلون
But they say the like of what the earlier peoples said.
بَلْ قَالُواْ مِثْلَ مَا قَالَ اَلْأَوَّلُونَ﴿82﴾
بل قالوا مثل ما قال الأولون
They say, “Is it that when we die and become dust and bones, will we really be resurrected?
قَالُواْ أَٰذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَاباٗ وَعِظَٰماً إِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ﴿83﴾
قالوا أذا متنا وكنا ترابا وعظما إنا لمبعوثون
This is what we and our forefathers were promised before; this is nothing but ancient fables.”
لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا نَحْنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا هَٰذَا مِن قَبْلُ إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا أَسَٰطِيرُ اُلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿84﴾
لقد وعدنا نحن وءاباؤنا هذا من قبل إن هذا إلا أسطير الأولين
Say, “To whom belong the earth and all those who are on it, if you really know?”
قُل لِّمَنِ اِلْأَرْضُ وَمَن فِيهَا إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ﴿85﴾
قل لمن الأرض ومن فيها إن كنتم تعلمون
They will say, “To Allah.” Say, “Will you not then take heed?”
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلهِ قُلْ أَفَلَا تَذَّكَّرُونَ﴿86﴾
سيقولون لله قل أفلا تذكرون
Say, “Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the Mighty Throne?”
قُلْ مَن رَّبُّ اُلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ اِلسَّبْعِ وَرَبُّ اُلْعَرْشِ اِلْعَظِيمِ﴿87﴾
قل من رب السموت السبع ورب العرش العظيم
They will say, “Allah.” Say, “Will you not then fear Him?”
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلهِ قُلْ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ﴿88﴾
سيقولون لله قل أفلا تتقون
Say, “In Whose Hand is the dominion of all things – and He gives protection while none can protect against Him – if you really know?”
قُلْ مَن بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٖ وَهْوَ يُجِيرُ وَلَا يُجَارُ عَلَيْهِ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ﴿89﴾
قل من بيده ملكوت كل شيء وهو يجير ولا يجار عليه إن كنتم تعلمون
They will say, “Allah.” Say, “Then how can you be deluded?”
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلهِ قُلْ فَأَنَّىٰ تُسْحَرُونَ﴿90﴾
سيقولون لله قل فأنى تسحرون
In fact, We brought them the truth, but they are certainly liars.
بَلْ أَتَيْنَٰهُم بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَ﴿91﴾
بل أتينهم بالحق وإنهم لكذبون
Allah has never begotten a son, nor is there any god besides Him. Otherwise, each god would have taken away what he had created, and each would have tried to gain supremacy over the other. Glory be to Allah far above what they ascribe to Him!
مَا اَتَّخَذَ اَللَّهُ مِنْ وَّلَدٖ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُ مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ إِذاٗ لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَٰهِ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٖ سُبْحَٰنَ اَللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ﴿92﴾
ما اتخذ الله من ولد وما كان معه من إله إذا لذهب كل إله بما خلق ولعلا بعضهم على بعض سبحن الله عما يصفون
Knower of the unseen and the seen. Exalted is He far above what they associate with Him!
عَٰلِمُ اُلْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَٰدَةِ فَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ﴿93﴾
علم الغيب والشهدة فتعلى عما يشركون
Say, “My Lord, if You show me what they are warned of,
قُل رَّبِّ إِمَّا تُرِيَنِّي مَا يُوعَدُونَ﴿94﴾
قل رب إما تريني ما يوعدون
my Lord, then do not include me among the wrongdoing people.”
رَبِّ فَلَا تَجْعَلْنِي فِي اِلْقَوْمِ اِلظَّٰلِمِينَ﴿95﴾
رب فلا تجعلني في القوم الظلمين
We are surely able to show you that of which We have warned them.
وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ أَن نُّرِيَكَ مَا نَعِدُهُمْ لَقَٰدِرُونَ﴿96﴾
وإنا على أن نريك ما نعدهم لقدرون
Repel evil with what is best; We know well what they claim.
اَدْفَعْ بِالتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ اُلسَّيِّئَةَ نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَصِفُونَ﴿97﴾
ادفع بالتي هي أحسن السيية نحن أعلم بما يصفون
And say, “My Lord, I seek refuge with You from the temptations of the devils.
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَٰتِ اِلشَّيَٰطِينِ﴿98﴾
وقل رب أعوذ بك من همزت الشيطين
And I seek refuge with You, my Lord, that they even come near me.”
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَنْ يَّحْضُرُونِ﴿99﴾
وأعوذ بك رب أن يحضرون
Until when death comes to one of them, he says, “My Lord, send me back,
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَا أَحَدَهُمُ اُلْمَوْتُ قَالَ رَبِّ اِرْجِعُونِ﴿100﴾
حتى إذا جا أحدهم الموت قال رب ارجعون
so that I may do righteous deeds in what I left behind.” No, it is only a word he utters. And behind them is a barrier until the Day they are resurrected
لَعَلِّيَ أَعْمَلُ صَٰلِحاٗ فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ كَلَّا إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَآئِلُهَا وَمِنْ وَّرَآئِهِم بَرْزَخٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ﴿101﴾
لعلي أعمل صلحا فيما تركت كلا إنها كلمة هو قائلها ومن ورائهم برزخ إلى يوم يبعثون
When the Trumpet is blown, there will be no kinship ties between them on that Day, nor will they ask about one another.
فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي اِلصُّورِ فَلَا أَنسَابَ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٖ وَلَا يَتَسَآءَلُونَ﴿102﴾
فإذا نفخ في الصور فلا أنساب بينهم يومئذ ولا يتساءلون
So those whose scales [of good deeds] are heavy, it is they who will be successful.
فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُلْمُفْلِحُونَ﴿103﴾
فمن ثقلت موزينه فأولئك هم المفلحون
But those whose scales are light, they are the ones who have lost their souls, abiding in Hell forever.
وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ اَلذِينَ خَسِرُواْ أَنفُسَهُمْ فِي جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدُونَ﴿104﴾
ومن خفت موزينه فأولئك الذين خسروا أنفسهم في جهنم خلدون
The Fire will scorch their faces, leaving them disfigured.
تَلْفَحُ وُجُوهَهُمُ اُلنَّارُ وَهُمْ فِيهَا كَٰلِحُونَ﴿105﴾
تلفح وجوههم النار وهم فيها كلحون
“Were not My verses recited to you, and you used to reject them?”
أَلَمْ تَكُنْ ءَايَٰتِي تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَكُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ﴿106﴾
ألم تكن ءايتي تتلى عليكم فكنتم بها تكذبون
They will say, “Our Lord, our misfortune overwhelmed us, and we were a people who went astray.
قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا غَلَبَتْ عَلَيْنَا شِقْوَتُنَا وَكُنَّا قَوْماٗ ضَآلِّينَ﴿107﴾
قالوا ربنا غلبت علينا شقوتنا وكنا قوما ضالين
Our Lord, take us out of this; if we returned [to evil], we would certainly be wrongdoers.”
رَبَّنَا أَخْرِجْنَا مِنْهَا فَإِنْ عُدْنَا فَإِنَّا ظَٰلِمُونَ﴿108﴾
ربنا أخرجنا منها فإن عدنا فإنا ظلمون
Allah will say, “Stay therein despised and do not speak to Me.
قَالَ اَخْسَـُٔواْ فِيهَا وَلَا تُكَلِّمُونِ﴿109﴾
قال اخسـوا فيها ولا تكلمون
There was a group of My slaves who used to pray, ‘Our Lord, we believe, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.’
إِنَّهُ كَانَ فَرِيقٞ مِّنْ عِبَادِي يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا ءَامَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ اُلرَّٰحِمِينَ﴿110﴾
إنه كان فريق من عبادي يقولون ربنا ءامنا فاغفر لنا وارحمنا وأنت خير الرحمين
But you took them in mockery until they made you forget My remembrance, and you used to laugh at them.
فَاتَّخَذتُّمُوهُمْ سُخْرِيّاً حَتَّىٰ أَنسَوْكُمْ ذِكْرِي وَكُنتُم مِّنْهُمْ تَضْحَكُونَ﴿111﴾
فاتخذتموهم سخريا حتى أنسوكم ذكري وكنتم منهم تضحكون
I have rewarded them Today for their patience; it is they who are the successful.”
إِنِّي جَزَيْتُهُمُ اُلْيَوْمَ بِمَا صَبَرُواْ أَنَّهُمْ هُمُ اُلْفَآئِزُونَ﴿112﴾
إني جزيتهم اليوم بما صبروا أنهم هم الفائزون
He will say, “How many years did you stay on earth?”
قَالَ كَمْ لَبِثْتُمْ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ عَدَدَ سِنِينَ﴿113﴾
قال كم لبثتم في الأرض عدد سنين
They will say, “We stayed for a day or part of a day; ask those who keep count.”
قَالُواْ لَبِثْنَا يَوْماً أَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٖ فَسْـَٔلِ اِلْعَآدِّينَ﴿114﴾
قالوا لبثنا يوما أو بعض يوم فسـل العادين
Allah will say, “You only stayed for a while, if only you had known.
قَالَ إِن لَّبِثْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلاٗ لَّوْ أَنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ﴿115﴾
قال إن لبثتم إلا قليلا لو أنكم كنتم تعلمون
Did you think that We created you with no purpose and that you would not be brought back to Us?”
أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ عَبَثاٗ وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ﴿116﴾
أفحسبتم أنما خلقنكم عبثا وأنكم إلينا لا ترجعون
Exalted is Allah, the True Sovereign! None has the right to be worshiped except Him, the Lord of the Honorable Throne.
فَتَعَٰلَى اَللَّهُ اُلْمَلِكُ اُلْحَقُّ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ اُلْعَرْشِ اِلْكَرِيمِ﴿117﴾
فتعلى الله الملك الحق لا إله إلا هو رب العرش الكريم
Whoever invokes another god besides Allah, for which he has no proof, his reckoning will be with his Lord. Indeed, the disbelievers will never succeed.
وَمَنْ يَّدْعُ مَعَ اَللَّهِ إِلَٰهاً ءَاخَرَ لَا بُرْهَٰنَ لَهُ بِهِ فَإِنَّمَا حِسَابُهُ عِندَ رَبِّهِ إِنَّهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ اُلْكَٰفِرُونَ﴿118﴾
ومن يدع مع الله إلها ءاخر لا برهن له به فإنما حسابه عند ربه إنه لا يفلح الكفرون
Say, “My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and you are the Best of those who show mercy.”
وَقُل رَّبِّ اِغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ اُلرَّٰحِمِينَ﴿119﴾
وقل رب اغفر وارحم وأنت خير الرحمين
