وَالْمُرْسَلَٰتِ عُرْفاٗ﴿1﴾
والمرسلت عرفا
By those [winds] sent forth in succession,
فَالْعَٰصِفَٰتِ عَصْفاٗ﴿2﴾
فالعصفت عصفا
those that blow violently,
وَالنَّٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْراٗ﴿3﴾
والنشرت نشرا
and scatter [rainclouds] far and wide,
فَالْفَٰرِقَٰتِ فَرْقاٗ﴿4﴾
فالفرقت فرقا
And by those [angels] who bring criterion;
فَالْمُلْقِيَٰتِ ذِكْراً﴿5﴾
فالملقيت ذكرا
and those who deliver revelation,
عُذْراً أَوْ نُذُراً﴿6﴾
عذرا أو نذرا
leaving no excuse or giving warning –
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٞ﴿7﴾
إنما توعدون لوقع
what you are promised will surely come to pass.
فَإِذَا اَلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ﴿8﴾
فإذا النجوم طمست
So when the stars are effaced,
وَإِذَا اَلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ﴿9﴾
وإذا السماء فرجت
and when the sky is split apart,
وَإِذَا اَلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ﴿10﴾
وإذا الجبال نسفت
and when the mountains are blown away,
وَإِذَا اَلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ﴿11﴾
وإذا الرسل أقتت
and when the messengers are summoned,
لِأَيِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ﴿12﴾
لأي يوم أجلت
until which Day has all this been postponed?
لِيَوْمِ اِلْفَصْلِ﴿13﴾
ليوم الفصل
Until the Day of Judgment.
وَمَا أَدْرَيٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ اُلْفَصْلِ﴿14﴾
وما أدريك ما يوم الفصل
How do you know what the Day of Judgment is?
وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿15﴾
ويل يومئذ للمكذبين
Woe on that Day to the deniers!
أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ اِلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿16﴾
ألم نهلك الأولين
Did We not destroy the earlier nations?
ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ اُلْأٓخِرِينَ﴿17﴾
ثم نتبعهم الأخرين
Then We will do likewise to the later ones.
كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ﴿18﴾
كذلك نفعل بالمجرمين
This is how We deal with the wicked.
وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿19﴾
ويل يومئذ للمكذبين
Woe on that Day to the deniers!
أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٖ مَّهِينٖ﴿20﴾
ألم نخلقكم من ماء مهين
Did We not create you from a worthless fluid,
فَجَعَلْنَٰهُ فِي قَرَارٖ مَّكِينٍ﴿21﴾
فجعلنه في قرار مكين
then We placed it in a secure repository
إِلَىٰ قَدَرٖ مَّعْلُومٖ﴿22﴾
إلى قدر معلوم
for a determined period?
فَقَدَّرْنَا فَنِعْمَ اَلْقَٰدِرُونَ﴿23﴾
فقدرنا فنعم القدرون
For We determined it; How excellently We determine!
وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿24﴾
ويل يومئذ للمكذبين
Woe on that Day to the deniers!
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ اِلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتاً﴿25﴾
ألم نجعل الأرض كفاتا
Have We not made the earth a receptacle
أَحْيَآءٗ وَأَمْوَٰتاٗ﴿26﴾
أحياء وأموتا
for the living and the dead,
وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ شَٰمِخَٰتٖ وَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُم مَّآءٗ فُرَاتاٗ﴿27﴾
وجعلنا فيها روسي شمخت وأسقينكم ماء فراتا
and placed therein firm towering mountains, and given you fresh water to drink?
وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿28﴾
ويل يومئذ للمكذبين
Woe on that Day to the deniers!
اَنطَلِقُواْ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ﴿29﴾
انطلقوا إلى ما كنتم به تكذبون
[They will be told,] “Proceed to that [Fire] which you used to deny!
اَنطَلِقُواْ إِلَىٰ ظِلّٖ ذِي ثَلَٰثِ شُعَبٖ﴿30﴾
انطلقوا إلى ظل ذي ثلث شعب
Proceed to the shadow [of smoke] ascending in three columns,
لَّا ظَلِيلٖ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنَ اَللَّهَبِ﴿31﴾
لا ظليل ولا يغني من اللهب
that provides neither shade nor protection from the flames.
إِنَّهَا تَرْمِي بِشَرَرٖ كَالْقَصْرِ﴿32﴾
إنها ترمي بشرر كالقصر
Indeed, it [i.e., Hell] throws up sparks as big as castles,
كَأَنَّهُ جِمَٰلَٰتٞ صُفْرٞ﴿33﴾
كأنه جملت صفر
as if they were tawny camels.
وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿34﴾
ويل يومئذ للمكذبين
Woe on that Day to the deniers!
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ﴿35﴾
هذا يوم لا ينطقون
On that Day they won’t speak,
وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ﴿36﴾
ولا يؤذن لهم فيعتذرون
nor will they be allowed to make excuses.
وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿37﴾
ويل يومئذ للمكذبين
Woe on that Day to the deniers!
هَٰذَا يَوْمُ اُلْفَصْلِ جَمَعْنَٰكُمْ وَالْأَوَّلِينَ﴿38﴾
هذا يوم الفصل جمعنكم والأولين
[They will be told,] “This is the Day of Judgment: We have gathered you along with the earlier generations.
فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٞ فَكِيدُونِ﴿39﴾
فإن كان لكم كيد فكيدون
So if you have any scheme, then plot it against Me.”
وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿40﴾
ويل يومئذ للمكذبين
Woe on that Day to the deniers!
إِنَّ اَلْمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَٰلٖ وَعُيُونٖ﴿41﴾
إن المتقين في ظلل وعيون
Indeed, the righteous will be amid shades and springs
وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ﴿42﴾
وفوكه مما يشتهون
and will have whatever fruit they desire.
كُلُواْ وَاشْرَبُواْ هَنِيٓـٔاَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿43﴾
كلوا واشربوا هنيـا بما كنتم تعملون
[They will be told,] “Eat and drink joyfully, as a reward for what you used to do.”
إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي اِلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿44﴾
إنا كذلك نجزي المحسنين
This is how We reward those who do good.
وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿45﴾
ويل يومئذ للمكذبين
Woe on that Day to the deniers!
كُلُواْ وَتَمَتَّعُواْ قَلِيلاً إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ﴿46﴾
كلوا وتمتعوا قليلا إنكم مجرمون
“Eat and enjoy yourselves for a while; you are truly wicked.”
وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿47﴾
ويل يومئذ للمكذبين
Woe on that Day to the deniers!
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اُرْكَعُواْ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ﴿48﴾
وإذا قيل لهم اركعوا لا يركعون
When it is said to them, “Bow [in prayer],” they do not bow.
وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ﴿49﴾
ويل يومئذ للمكذبين
Woe on that Day to the deniers!
فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثِ بَعْدَهُ يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿50﴾
فبأي حديث بعده يؤمنون
In which message after this [Qur’an] will they believe?
