طَسِٓ تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ اُلْقُرْءَانِ وَكِتَابٖ مُّبِينٍ﴿1﴾
طس تلك ءايت القرءان وكتاب مبين
Tā Sīn. These are the verses of the Qur’an and a clear book;
هُدىٗ وَبُشْرَىٰ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿2﴾
هدى وبشرى للمؤمنين
a guidance and glad tidings for the believers,
اَلذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ اَلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ اَلزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُم بِالْأٓخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ﴿3﴾
الذين يقيمون الصلوة ويؤتون الزكوة وهم بالأخرة هم يوقنون
those who establish prayer and give zakah, and who firmly believe in the Hereafter.
إِنَّ اَلذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْأٓخِرَةِ زَيَّنَّا لَهُمْ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَهُمْ يَعْمَهُونَ﴿4﴾
إن الذين لا يؤمنون بالأخرة زينا لهم أعملهم فهم يعمهون
As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made their deeds appealing to them, so they wander blindly.
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ اَلذِينَ لَهُمْ سُوٓءُ اُلْعَذَابِ وَهُمْ فِي اِلْأٓخِرَةِ هُمُ اُلْأَخْسَرُونَ﴿5﴾
أولئك الذين لهم سوء العذاب وهم في الأخرة هم الأخسرون
Such are those who will have a terrible punishment, and it is they who will be the greatest losers in the Hereafter.
وَإِنَّكَ لَتُلَقَّى اَلْقُرْءَانَ مِن لَّدُنْ حَكِيمٍ عَلِيمٍ﴿6﴾
وإنك لتلقى القرءان من لدن حكيم عليم
Indeed, you are receiving the Qur’an from the All-Wise, All-Knowing.
إِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِأَهْلِهِ إِنِّيَ ءَانَسْتُ نَاراٗ سَـَٔاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوْ ءَاتِيكُم بِشِهَابِ قَبَسٖ لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ﴿7﴾
إذ قال موسى لأهله إني ءانست نارا سـاتيكم منها بخبر أو ءاتيكم بشهاب قبس لعلكم تصطلون
[Remember] when Moses said to his family, “I have spotted a fire. I will bring you some news from there, or bring you a burning brand so that you may warm yourselves.”
فَلَمَّا جَآءَهَا نُودِيَ أَن بُورِكَ مَن فِي اِلنَّارِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا وَسُبْحَٰنَ اَللَّهِ رَبِّ اِلْعَٰلَمِينَ﴿8﴾
فلما جاءها نودي أن بورك من في النار ومن حولها وسبحن الله رب العلمين
When he came to it, he was called, “Blessed is He Who is at the fire and those who are around it. Glory be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
يَٰمُوسَىٰ إِنَّهُ أَنَا اَللَّهُ اُلْعَزِيزُ اُلْحَكِيمُ﴿9﴾
يموسى إنه أنا الله العزيز الحكيم
O Moses, verily this is Me – Allah, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.
وَأَلْقِ عَصَاكَ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَآنّٞ وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِراٗ وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ يَٰمُوسَىٰ لَا تَخَفْ إِنِّي لَا يَخَافُ لَدَيَّ اَلْمُرْسَلُونَ﴿10﴾
وألق عصاك فلما رءاها تهتز كأنها جان ولى مدبرا ولم يعقب يموسى لا تخف إني لا يخاف لدي المرسلون
Throw down your staff!” But when he saw it slithering as if it were a snake, he turned and ran away without looking back. “O Moses, do not be afraid! Indeed, the messengers should have no fear in My presence,
إِلَّا مَن ظَلَمَ ثُمَّ بَدَّلَ حُسْناَ بَعْدَ سُوٓءٖ فَإِنِّي غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ﴿11﴾
إلا من ظلم ثم بدل حسنا بعد سوء فإني غفور رحيم
except he who does wrong, then substitutes good for evil, then I am indeed All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
وَأَدْخِلْ يَدَكَ فِي جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَآءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوٓءٖ فِي تِسْعِ ءَايَٰتٍ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمِهِ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ قَوْماٗ فَٰسِقِينَ﴿12﴾
وأدخل يدك في جيبك تخرج بيضاء من غير سوء في تسع ءايت إلى فرعون وقومه إنهم كانوا قوما فسقين
Put your hand into your garment, it will come out shining white without blemish, as one of nine signs to Pharaoh and his people, for they are indeed a rebellious people.”
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْهُمْ ءَايَٰتُنَا مُبْصِرَةٗ قَالُواْ هَٰذَا سِحْرٞ مُّبِينٞ﴿13﴾
فلما جاءتهم ءايتنا مبصرة قالوا هذا سحر مبين
But when Our visible signs came to them, they said, “This is clear magic.”
وَجَحَدُواْ بِهَا وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنفُسُهُمْ ظُلْماٗ وَعُلُوّاٗ فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُلْمُفْسِدِينَ﴿14﴾
وجحدوا بها واستيقنتها أنفسهم ظلما وعلوا فانظر كيف كان عقبة المفسدين
They denied them wrongfully and arrogantly, although their hearts were convinced that they were true. See then how was the end of those who spread corruption!
وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا دَاوُدَ وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ عِلْماٗ وَقَالَا اَلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ اِلذِي فَضَّلَنَا عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٖ مِّنْ عِبَادِهِ اِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿15﴾
ولقد ءاتينا داود وسليمن علما وقالا الحمد لله الذي فضلنا على كثير من عباده المؤمنين
We gave David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, “All praise be to Allah, Who has favored us over many of His believing slaves.”
وَوَرِثَ سُلَيْمَٰنُ دَاوُدَ وَقَالَ يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلنَّاسُ عُلِّمْنَا مَنطِقَ اَلطَّيْرِ وَأُوتِينَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهْوَ اَلْفَضْلُ اُلْمُبِينُ﴿16﴾
وورث سليمن داود وقال يأيها الناس علمنا منطق الطير وأوتينا من كل شيء إن هذا لهو الفضل المبين
Solomon succeeded David, and said, “O people, we have been taught the speech of birds, and we have been given from all things. This is indeed a clear favor.”
وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيْمَٰنَ جُنُودُهُ مِنَ اَلْجِنِّ وَالْإِنسِ وَالطَّيْرِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ﴿17﴾
وحشر لسليمن جنوده من الجن والإنس والطير فهم يوزعون
Solomon’s armies of jinn, men and birds were assembled before him, marching in organized ranks,
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَتَوْاْ عَلَىٰ وَادِ اِلنَّمْلِ قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٞ يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلنَّمْلُ اُدْخُلُواْ مَسَٰكِنَكُمْ لَا يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ سُلَيْمَٰنُ وَجُنُودُهُ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ﴿18﴾
حتى إذا أتوا على واد النمل قالت نملة يأيها النمل ادخلوا مسكنكم لا يحطمنكم سليمن وجنوده وهم لا يشعرون
until when they reached a valley of ants, an ant said, “O ants, get into your dwellings, so Solomon and his armies do not crush you unknowingly.”
فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكاٗ مِّن قَوْلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ اَلتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَٰلِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَٰلِحاٗ تَرْضَيٰهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِي عِبَادِكَ اَلصَّٰلِحِينَ﴿19﴾
فتبسم ضاحكا من قولها وقال رب أوزعني أن أشكر نعمتك التي أنعمت علي وعلى ولدي وأن أعمل صلحا ترضيه وأدخلني برحمتك في عبادك الصلحين
So he smiled in amusement at its words and said, “My Lord, inspire me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and my parents, and to do righteous deeds that please you. And admit me, by Your mercy, among Your righteous slaves.”
وَتَفَقَّدَ اَلطَّيْرَ فَقَالَ مَالِي لَا أَرَى اَلْهُدْهُدَ أَمْ كَانَ مِنَ اَلْغَآئِبِينَ﴿20﴾
وتفقد الطير فقال مالي لا أرى الهدهد أم كان من الغائبين
Once he checked the birds, and said, “Why is it that I do not see the hoopoe – or is he among the absent?
لَأُعَذِّبَنَّهُ عَذَاباٗ شَدِيداً أَوْ لَأَاْذْبَحَنَّهُ أَوْ لَيَأْتِيَنِّي بِسُلْطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٖ﴿21﴾
لأعذبنه عذابا شديدا أو لأاذبحنه أو ليأتيني بسلطن مبين
I will surely punish him severely, or slaughter him, unless he brings me a valid reason.”
فَمَكُثَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٖ فَقَالَ أَحَطْتُّ بِمَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِ وَجِئْتُكَ مِن سَبَإِ بِنَبَإٖ يَقِينٍ﴿22﴾
فمكث غير بعيد فقال أحطت بما لم تحط به وجيتك من سبإ بنبإ يقين
It was not long before the hoopoe came and said, “I have learned something that you do not know; I come to you from Sheba with sure news.
إِنِّي وَجَدتُّ اُمْرَأَةٗ تَمْلِكُهُمْ وَأُوتِيَتْ مِن كُلِّ شَيْءٖ وَلَهَا عَرْشٌ عَظِيمٞ﴿23﴾
إني وجدت امرأة تملكهم وأوتيت من كل شيء ولها عرش عظيم
I found a woman ruling over them, who has been given of all things, and she has a great throne.
وَجَدتُّهَا وَقَوْمَهَا يَسْجُدُونَ لِلشَّمْسِ مِن دُونِ اِللَّهِ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ اُلشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ اِلسَّبِيلِ فَهُمْ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ﴿24﴾
وجدتها وقومها يسجدون للشمس من دون الله وزين لهم الشيطن أعملهم فصدهم عن السبيل فهم لا يهتدون
I found her and her people prostrating before the sun instead of Allah. Satan has made their deeds appealing to them and turned them away from the right way, so they are not guided.
أَلَّا يَسْجُدُواْ لِلهِ اِلذِي يُخْرِجُ اُلْخَبْءَ فِي اِلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا يُخْفُونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ﴿25﴾
ألا يسجدوا لله الذي يخرج الخبء في السموت والأرض ويعلم ما يخفون وما يعلنون
so that they do not prostrate before Allah Who brings forth what is hidden in the heavens and earth, and Who knows all that you conceal and all that you reveal.
اَللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ اُلْعَرْشِ اِلْعَظِيمِ﴿26﴾
الله لا إله إلا هو رب العرش العظيم
Allah; none has the right to be worshiped except Him, the Lord of the Mighty Throne.”
قَالَ سَنَنظُرُ أَصَدَقْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ اَلْكَٰذِبِينَ﴿27﴾
قال سننظر أصدقت أم كنت من الكذبين
Solomon said, “We will see whether you have told the truth or you are one of the liars.
اَذْهَب بِّكِتَٰبِي هَٰذَا فَأَلْقِهِ إِلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَانظُرْ مَاذَا يَرْجِعُونَ﴿28﴾
اذهب بكتبي هذا فألقه إليهم ثم تول عنهم فانظر ماذا يرجعون
Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them, then withdraw and see how they respond.”
قَالَتْ يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلْمَلَؤُاْ اِنِّيَ أُلْقِيَ إِلَيَّ كِتَٰبٞ كَرِيمٌ﴿29﴾
قالت يأيها الملؤا اني ألقي إلي كتب كريم
The Queen said, “O chiefs, a noble letter has been delivered to me.
إِنَّهُ مِن سُلَيْمَٰنَ وَإِنَّهُ بِسْمِ اِللَّهِ اِلرَّحْمَٰنِ اِلرَّحِيمِ﴿30﴾
إنه من سليمن وإنه بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
It is from Solomon, and it reads, ‘In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
أَلَّا تَعْلُواْ عَلَيَّ وَأْتُونِي مُسْلِمِينَ﴿31﴾
ألا تعلوا علي وأتوني مسلمين
Do not be arrogant towards me, but come to me in full submission.”
قَالَتْ يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلْمَلَؤُاْ اَفْتُونِي فِي أَمْرِي مَا كُنتُ قَاطِعَةً أَمْراً حَتَّىٰ تَشْهَدُونِ﴿32﴾
قالت يأيها الملؤا افتوني في أمري ما كنت قاطعة أمرا حتى تشهدون
She said, “O chiefs, advise me in this matter of mine, for I would make no decision without your consent.”
قَالُواْ نَحْنُ أُوْلُواْ قُوَّةٖ وَأُوْلُواْ بَأْسٖ شَدِيدٖ﴿33﴾
قالوا نحن أولوا قوة وأولوا بأس شديد
They said, “We are powerful and great fighters, but the decision is yours, so consider what you will command.”
وَالْأَمْرُ إِلَيْكِ فَانظُرِي مَاذَا تَأْمُرِينَ﴿34﴾
والأمر إليك فانظري ماذا تأمرين
She said, “When kings enter a town, they ravage it and humiliate its notables; this is what they really do.
قَالَتْ إِنَّ اَلْمُلُوكَ إِذَا دَخَلُواْ قَرْيَةً أَفْسَدُوهَا وَجَعَلُواْ أَعِزَّةَ أَهْلِهَا أَذِلَّةٗ وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ﴿35﴾
قالت إن الملوك إذا دخلوا قرية أفسدوها وجعلوا أعزة أهلها أذلة وكذلك يفعلون
But I will send them a gift, then see with what response the envoys will return.”
وَإِنِّي مُرْسِلَةٌ إِلَيْهِم بِهَدِيَّةٖ فَنَٰظِرَةُ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ اُلْمُرْسَلُونَ﴿36﴾
وإني مرسلة إليهم بهدية فنظرة بم يرجع المرسلون
When the envoy came to Solomon, he said, “Do you seek to appease me with wealth? What Allah has given me is far better than what He has given you. Rather, it is you who take pleasure in gifts.
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ سُلَيْمَٰنَ قَالَ أَتُمِدُّونَنِ بِمَالٖ فَمَا ءَاتَيٰنَِ اَللَّهُ خَيْرٞ مِّمَّا ءَاتَيٰكُم بَلْ أَنتُم بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ﴿37﴾
فلما جاء سليمن قال أتمدونن بمال فما ءاتين الله خير مما ءاتيكم بل أنتم بهديتكم تفرحون
Go back to them; we will surely come to them with forces that they cannot resist, and we will surely drive them out therefrom in disgrace, fully humbled.”
اَرْجِعْ إِلَيْهِمْ فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّهُم بِجُنُودٖ لَّا قِبَلَ لَهُم بِهَا وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُم مِّنْهَا أَذِلَّةٗ وَهُمْ صَٰغِرُونَ﴿38﴾
ارجع إليهم فلنأتينهم بجنود لا قبل لهم بها ولنخرجنهم منها أذلة وهم صغرون
He said, “O chiefs, which one of you can bring me her throne before they come to me in submission?”
قَالَ يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلْمَلَؤُاْ اَيُّكُمْ يَأْتِينِي بِعَرْشِهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَّأْتُونِي مُسْلِمِينَ﴿39﴾
قال يأيها الملؤا ايكم يأتيني بعرشها قبل أن يأتوني مسلمين
A powerful jinn said, “I will bring it to you before you rise up from your council, and I am strong enough and trustworthy.”
قَالَ عِفْرِيتٞ مِّنَ اَلْجِنِّ أَنَا ءَاتِيكَ بِهِ قَبْلَ أَن تَقُومَ مِن مَّقَامِكَ وَإِنِّي عَلَيْهِ لَقَوِيٌّ أَمِينٞ﴿40﴾
قال عفريت من الجن أنا ءاتيك به قبل أن تقوم من مقامك وإني عليه لقوي أمين
But the one who had some knowledge of the scripture said, “I will bring it to you in the blink of your eye.” When he saw it placed before him, he said, “This is a favor of my Lord, to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful. Whoever is grateful, it is only for his own good; and whoever is ungrateful, then my Lord is Self-Sufficient, Most Generous.”
قَالَ اَلذِي عِندَهُ عِلْمٞ مِّنَ اَلْكِتَٰبِ أَنَا ءَاتِيكَ بِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَّرْتَدَّ إِلَيْكَ طَرْفُكَ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهُ مُسْتَقِرّاً عِندَهُ قَالَ هَٰذَا مِن فَضْلِ رَبِّي لِيَبْلُوَنِيَ ءَٰاشْكُرُ أَمْ أَكْفُرُ وَمَن شَكَرَ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ رَبِّي غَنِيّٞ كَرِيمٞ﴿41﴾
قال الذي عنده علم من الكتب أنا ءاتيك به قبل أن يرتد إليك طرفك فلما رءاه مستقرا عنده قال هذا من فضل ربي ليبلوني ءاشكر أم أكفر ومن شكر فإنما يشكر لنفسه ومن كفر فإن ربي غني كريم
He said, “Disguise her throne for her, so we may see whether she can discover the truth, or she will be of those who cannot recognize.”
قَالَ نَكِّرُواْ لَهَا عَرْشَهَا نَنظُرْ أَتَهْتَدِي أَمْ تَكُونُ مِنَ اَلذِينَ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ﴿42﴾
قال نكروا لها عرشها ننظر أتهتدي أم تكون من الذين لا يهتدون
So when she came, she was asked, “Is your throne like this?” She said, “It looks as if it is the same. We were given knowledge beforehand, and have submitted [to Allah].”
فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ قِيلَ أَهَٰكَذَا عَرْشُكِ قَالَتْ كَأَنَّهُ هُوَ وَأُوتِينَا اَلْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهَا وَكُنَّا مُسْلِمِينَ﴿43﴾
فلما جاءت قيل أهكذا عرشك قالت كأنه هو وأوتينا العلم من قبلها وكنا مسلمين
But she was hindered [from the faith] because she used to worship other than Allah, for she came from a disbelieving people.
وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَت تَّعْبُدُ مِن دُونِ اِللَّهِ إِنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِن قَوْمٖ كَٰفِرِينَ﴿44﴾
وصدها ما كانت تعبد من دون الله إنها كانت من قوم كفرين
It was said to her, “Enter the palace.” But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water, so she uncovered her calves. He said, “This is a palace paved with crystal.” She said, “My Lord, I have wronged myself, and now I submit along with Solomon to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.”
قِيلَ لَهَا اَدْخُلِي اِلصَّرْحَ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةٗ وَكَشَفَتْ عَن سَاقَيْهَا قَالَ إِنَّهُ صَرْحٞ مُّمَرَّدٞ مِّن قَوَارِيرَ﴿45﴾
قيل لها ادخلي الصرح فلما رأته حسبته لجة وكشفت عن ساقيها قال إنه صرح ممرد من قوارير
We sent to the people of Thamūd their brother Sālih [saying], “Worship Allah,” then they suddenly split into two quarreling factions.
قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي وَأَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمَٰنَ لِلهِ رَبِّ اِلْعَٰلَمِينَ﴿46﴾
قالت رب إني ظلمت نفسي وأسلمت مع سليمن لله رب العلمين
He said, “O my people, why do you seek to hasten punishment rather than good? If only you sought Allah’s forgiveness, so that you may be shown mercy!”
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَٰلِحاً أَنُ اُعْبُدُواْ اُللَّهَ فَإِذَا هُمْ فَرِيقَٰنِ يَخْتَصِمُونَ﴿47﴾
ولقد أرسلنا إلى ثمود أخاهم صلحا أن اعبدوا الله فإذا هم فريقن يختصمون
They said, “We consider you and those who are with you as a bad omen.” He said, “Your omen is from Allah, but you are a people who are being tested.”
قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ اَلْحَسَنَةِ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ اَللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ﴿48﴾
قال يقوم لم تستعجلون بالسيية قبل الحسنة لولا تستغفرون الله لعلكم ترحمون
There were nine men in the city who used to spread corruption in the land without doing anything good.
قَالُواْ اُطَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَ قَالَ طَٰٓئِرُكُمْ عِندَ اَللَّهِ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٞ تُفْتَنُونَ﴿49﴾
قالوا اطيرنا بك وبمن معك قال طئركم عند الله بل أنتم قوم تفتنون
They said, “Let us all swear by Allah that we will kill him and his family by night. Then we will tell his heir, ‘We did not witness the murder of his family, and we are indeed truthful.’”
وَكَانَ فِي اِلْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٖ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ﴿50﴾
وكان في المدينة تسعة رهط يفسدون في الأرض ولا يصلحون
Thus they made a plan and We too made a plan, but they were unaware of it.
قَالُواْ تَقَاسَمُواْ بِاللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُ وَأَهْلَهُ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِ مَا شَهِدْنَا مُهْلَكَ أَهْلِهِ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَ﴿51﴾
قالوا تقاسموا بالله لنبيتنه وأهله ثم لنقولن لوليه ما شهدنا مهلك أهله وإنا لصدقون
See then what was the consequences of their plan: We destroyed them and their entire people.
وَمَكَرُواْ مَكْراٗ وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْراٗ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ﴿52﴾
ومكروا مكرا ومكرنا مكرا وهم لا يشعرون
Now their houses are utterly ruined because of their wrongdoing. Indeed, there are signs in this for people of knowledge.
فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمْ إِنَّا دَمَّرْنَٰهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ﴿53﴾
فانظر كيف كان عقبة مكرهم إنا دمرنهم وقومهم أجمعين
And We saved those who believed and feared Allah.
فَتِلْكَ بِيُوتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةَ بِمَا ظَلَمُواْ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّقَوْمٖ يَعْلَمُونَ﴿54﴾
فتلك بيوتهم خاوية بما ظلموا إن في ذلك لأية لقوم يعلمون
And [remember] Lot, when he said to his people, “Do you commit this shameful act while seeing [one another]?
وَأَنجَيْنَا اَلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَكَانُواْ يَتَّقُونَ﴿55﴾
وأنجينا الذين ءامنوا وكانوا يتقون
Do you approach men with lust instead of women? In fact, you are an ignorant people!”
وَلُوطاً إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَتَأْتُونَ اَلْفَٰحِشَةَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ﴿56﴾
ولوطا إذ قال لقومه أتأتون الفحشة وأنتم تبصرون
But the only response his people gave was to say, “Drive the family of Lot out of your town, for they are a people who keep themselves pure!”
أَٰئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ اَلرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةٗ مِّن دُونِ اِلنِّسَآءِ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٞ تَجْهَلُونَ﴿57﴾
أئنكم لتأتون الرجال شهوة من دون النساء بل أنتم قوم تجهلون
So We saved him and his family, except his wife whom We destined to be among those who would remain behind.
فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلَّا أَن قَالُواْ أَخْرِجُواْ ءَالَ لُوطٖ مِّن قَرْيَتِكُمْ إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٞ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ﴿58﴾
فما كان جواب قومه إلا أن قالوا أخرجوا ءال لوط من قريتكم إنهم أناس يتطهرون
And We rained upon them a rain [of stones]. How terrible was the rain of those who were warned!
فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُ إِلَّا اَمْرَأَتَهُ قَدَّرْنَٰهَا مِنَ اَلْغَٰبِرِينَ﴿59﴾
فأنجينه وأهله إلا امرأته قدرنها من الغبرين
Say, [O Prophet], “All praise is for Allah, and peace be upon His slaves whom He has chosen. Is Allah better, or those partners whom they associate with Him?”
وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَراٗ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ اُلْمُنذَرِينَ﴿60﴾
وأمطرنا عليهم مطرا فساء مطر المنذرين
Is He [not better] Who created the heavens and earth, and sent down for you rain from the sky, by which We caused to grow gardens of cheerful beauty? You could never cause their trees to grow. Is there any god besides Allah? No, but they are people who ascribe equals [to Allah].
قُلِ اِلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ اِلذِينَ اَصْطَفَىٰ ءَآللَّهُ خَيْرٌ أَمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ﴿61﴾
قل الحمد لله وسلم على عباده الذين اصطفى ءالله خير أما تشركون
Is He [not better] Who made the earth a stable place to live, and caused rivers to flow through it, and placed therein firm mountains, and made a barrier between two flowing bodies of water? Is there any god besides Allah? No, but most of them do not know.
أَمَّنْ خَلَقَ اَلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ اَلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَنبَتْنَا بِهِ حَدَآئِقَ ذَاتَ بَهْجَةٖ مَّا كَانَ لَكُمْ أَن تُنبِتُواْ شَجَرَهَا أَٰلَٰهٞ مَّعَ اَللَّهِ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٞ يَعْدِلُونَ﴿62﴾
أمن خلق السموت والأرض وأنزل لكم من السماء ماء فأنبتنا به حدائق ذات بهجة ما كان لكم أن تنبتوا شجرها أله مع الله بل هم قوم يعدلون
Is He [not better] Who responds to the distressed when he calls out to Him, and Who relieves suffering, and Who makes you successors on earth? Is there any god besides Allah? Little is it that you take heed!
أَمَّن جَعَلَ اَلْأَرْضَ قَرَاراٗ وَجَعَلَ خِلَٰلَهَا أَنْهَٰراٗ وَجَعَلَ لَهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَ اَلْبَحْرَيْنِ حَاجِزاً أَٰلَٰهٞ مَّعَ اَللَّهِ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ﴿63﴾
أمن جعل الأرض قرارا وجعل خللها أنهرا وجعل لها روسي وجعل بين البحرين حاجزا أله مع الله بل أكثرهم لا يعلمون
Is He [not better] Who guides you in the depths of the darkness of the land and sea, and Who sends the winds as harbingers ahead of His mercy? Is there any god besides Allah? Exalted is Allah far above the partners they associate with Him!
أَمَّنْ يُّجِيبُ اُلْمُضْطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكْشِفُ اُلسُّوٓءَ وَيَجْعَلُكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ اَلْأَرْضِ أَٰلَٰهٞ مَّعَ اَللَّهِ قَلِيلاٗ مَّا تَذَّكَّرُونَ﴿64﴾
أمن يجيب المضطر إذا دعاه ويكشف السوء ويجعلكم خلفاء الأرض أله مع الله قليلا ما تذكرون
Is He [not better] Who originates creation then repeats it, and Who gives you provision from the heaven and earth? Is there any god besides Allah? Say, “Produce your evidence, if you are truthful.”
أَمَّنْ يَّهْدِيكُمْ فِي ظُلُمَٰتِ اِلْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَمَنْ يُّرْسِلُ اُلرِّيَٰحَ نُشُراَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ أَٰلَٰهٞ مَّعَ اَللَّهِ تَعَٰلَى اَللَّهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ﴿65﴾
أمن يهديكم في ظلمت البر والبحر ومن يرسل الريح نشرا بين يدي رحمته أله مع الله تعلى الله عما يشركون
Say, “No one in the heavens and earth has knowledge of the unseen except Allah.” Nor do they know when they will be resurrected.
أَمَّنْ يَّبْدَؤُاْ اُلْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ وَمَنْ يَّرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ اَلسَّمَآءِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَٰلَٰهٞ مَّعَ اَللَّهِ قُلْ هَاتُواْ بُرْهَٰنَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ﴿66﴾
أمن يبدؤا الخلق ثم يعيده ومن يرزقكم من السماء والأرض أله مع الله قل هاتوا برهنكم إن كنتم صدقين
In fact, their knowledge cannot comprehend the Hereafter; rather, they are in doubt about it; rather, they are blind to it.
قُل لَّا يَعْلَمُ مَن فِي اِلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ اِلْغَيْبَ إِلَّا اَللَّهُ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَ﴿67﴾
قل لا يعلم من في السموت والأرض الغيب إلا الله وما يشعرون أيان يبعثون
Those who disbelieve say, “What! Is it that when we and our forefathers become dust, will we really be brought forth [alive]?
بَلِ اِدَّٰرَكَ عِلْمُهُمْ فِي اِلْأٓخِرَةِ بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكّٖ مِّنْهَا بَلْ هُم مِّنْهَا عَمُونَ﴿68﴾
بل ادرك علمهم في الأخرة بل هم في شك منها بل هم منها عمون
We and our forefathers have been promised this before; this is nothing but ancient fables!”
وَقَالَ اَلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ إِذَا كُنَّا تُرَٰباٗ وَءَابَآؤُنَا أَٰئِنَّا لَمُخْرَجُونَ﴿69﴾
وقال الذين كفروا إذا كنا تربا وءاباؤنا أئنا لمخرجون
Say, “Travel in the land and see how was the end of the wicked.”
لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا هَٰذَا نَحْنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا مِن قَبْلُ إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا أَسَٰطِيرُ اُلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿70﴾
لقد وعدنا هذا نحن وءاباؤنا من قبل إن هذا إلا أسطير الأولين
Do not grieve over them, nor be distressed by their plots.
قُلْ سِيرُواْ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ فَانظُرُواْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُلْمُجْرِمِينَ﴿71﴾
قل سيروا في الأرض فانظروا كيف كان عقبة المجرمين
They say, “When will this warning come to pass, if you are truthful?”
وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا تَكُن فِي ضَيْقٖ مِّمَّا يَمْكُرُونَ﴿72﴾
ولا تحزن عليهم ولا تكن في ضيق مما يمكرون
Say, “Perhaps some of what you seek to hasten is quite near to you.”
وَيَقُولُونَ مَتَىٰ هَٰذَا اَلْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ﴿73﴾
ويقولون متى هذا الوعد إن كنتم صدقين
Indeed, your Lord is graceful to mankind, but most of them are ungrateful.
قُلْ عَسَىٰ أَنْ يَّكُونَ رَدِفَ لَكُم بَعْضُ اُلذِي تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ﴿74﴾
قل عسى أن يكون ردف لكم بعض الذي تستعجلون
Your Lord surely knows all that their hearts conceal and all that they reveal.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى اَلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَشْكُرُونَ﴿75﴾
وإن ربك لذو فضل على الناس ولكن أكثرهم لا يشكرون
For there is nothing hidden in the heavens and earth except that it is [written] in a clear Record.
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ﴿76﴾
وإن ربك ليعلم ما تكن صدورهم وما يعلنون
Indeed, this Qur’an explains to the Children of Israel most of that over which they differ.
وَمَا مِنْ غَآئِبَةٖ فِي اِلسَّمَآءِ وَالْأَرْضِ إِلَّا فِي كِتَٰبٖ مُّبِينٍ﴿77﴾
وما من غائبة في السماء والأرض إلا في كتب مبين
And it is certainly a guidance and mercy for the believers.
إِنَّ هَٰذَا اَلْقُرْءَانَ يَقُصُّ عَلَىٰ بَنِي إِسْرَآءِيلَ أَكْثَرَ اَلذِي هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَ﴿78﴾
إن هذا القرءان يقص على بني إسراءيل أكثر الذي هم فيه يختلفون
Indeed, your Lord will judge between them by His justice, for He is the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.
وَإِنَّهُ لَهُدىٗ وَرَحْمَةٞ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿79﴾
وإنه لهدى ورحمة للمؤمنين
So put your trust in Allah, for you are upon the clear truth.
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِي بَيْنَهُم بِحُكْمِهِ وَهْوَ اَلْعَزِيزُ اُلْعَلِيمُ﴿80﴾
إن ربك يقضي بينهم بحكمه وهو العزيز العليم
You cannot make the dead hear, nor can you make the deaf hear the call when they turn their backs retreating.
فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اَللَّهِ إِنَّكَ عَلَى اَلْحَقِّ اِلْمُبِينِ﴿81﴾
فتوكل على الله إنك على الحق المبين
Nor can you guide the blind out of their error, nor can you make anyone hear except those who believe in Our verses, for they are ready to submit to Allah.
إِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ اُلْمَوْتَىٰ وَلَا تُسْمِعُ اُلصُّمَّ اَلدُّعَآءَ اذَا وَلَّوْاْ مُدْبِرِينَ﴿82﴾
إنك لا تسمع الموتى ولا تسمع الصم الدعاء اذا ولوا مدبرين
When the decree [of the Hour] comes to pass against them, We will bring forth to them a beast out of the earth that will tell them that the people had no faith in Our verses.
وَمَا أَنتَ بِهَٰدِي اِلْعُمْيِ عَن ضَلَٰلَتِهِمْ إِن تُسْمِعُ إِلَّا مَنْ يُّؤْمِنُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَهُم مُّسْلِمُونَ﴿83﴾
وما أنت بهدي العمي عن ضللتهم إن تسمع إلا من يؤمن بـايتنا فهم مسلمون
And [beware of] the Day when We will gather from every nation a group of those who used to reject Our verses, and they will be driven in ranks.
وَإِذَا وَقَعَ اَلْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ أَخْرَجْنَا لَهُمْ دَآبَّةٗ مِّنَ اَلْأَرْضِ تُكَلِّمُهُمْ إِنَّ اَلنَّاسَ كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا لَا يُوقِنُونَ﴿84﴾
وإذا وقع القول عليهم أخرجنا لهم دابة من الأرض تكلمهم إن الناس كانوا بـايتنا لا يوقنون
When they finally come, He will say, “Did you reject My verses without even comprehending them, or what exactly were you doing?
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٖ فَوْجاٗ مِّمَّنْ يُّكَذِّبُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ﴿85﴾
ويوم نحشر من كل أمة فوجا ممن يكذب بـايتنا فهم يوزعون
The decree [of punishment] will befall them because of their wrongdoing, leaving them speechless.
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَآءُو قَالَ أَكَذَّبْتُم بِـَٔايَٰتِي وَلَمْ تُحِيطُواْ بِهَا عِلْماً أَمَّاذَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿86﴾
حتى إذا جاءو قال أكذبتم بـايتي ولم تحيطوا بها علما أماذا كنتم تعملون
Do they not see that We made the night for them to rest in, and made the day bright? Indeed, there are signs in this for people who believe.
وَوَقَعَ اَلْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِم بِمَا ظَلَمُواْ فَهُمْ لَا يَنطِقُونَ﴿87﴾
ووقع القول عليهم بما ظلموا فهم لا ينطقون
And [beware of] the Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and all those who are in the heavens and on earth will be horrified except whom Allah wills, and all will come to Him, fully humbled.
أَلَمْ يَرَوْاْ أَنَّا جَعَلْنَا اَليْلَ لِيَسْكُنُواْ فِيهِ وَالنَّهَارَ مُبْصِراً إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوْمٖ يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿88﴾
ألم يروا أنا جعلنا اليل ليسكنوا فيه والنهار مبصرا إن في ذلك لأيت لقوم يؤمنون
You will see the mountains, thinking them firmly fixed, but they will be moving like clouds – such is the design of Allah, Who has perfected everything. Indeed, He is All-Aware of what you do.
وَيَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِي اِلصُّورِ فَفَزِعَ مَن فِي اِلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَن فِي اِلْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَن شَآءَ اَللَّهُ وَكُلٌّ ءَاتُوهُ دَٰخِرِينَ﴿89﴾
ويوم ينفخ في الصور ففزع من في السموت ومن في الأرض إلا من شاء الله وكل ءاتوه دخرين
Whoever comes with a good deed will be rewarded with better than it, and they will be safe from the horror of that Day.
وَتَرَى اَلْجِبَالَ تَحْسِبُهَا جَامِدَةٗ وَهْيَ تَمُرُّ مَرَّ اَلسَّحَابِ صُنْعَ اَللَّهِ اِلذِي أَتْقَنَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ إِنَّهُ خَبِيرُ بِمَا تَفْعَلُونَ﴿90﴾
وترى الجبال تحسبها جامدة وهي تمر مر السحاب صنع الله الذي أتقن كل شيء إنه خبير بما تفعلون
But whoever comes with an evil deed will be thrown on their faces in the Fire. Are you recompensed except for what you used to do?
مَن جَآءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ خَيْرٞ مِّنْهَا وَهُم مِّن فَزَعِ يَوْمَئِذٍ ءَامِنُونَ﴿91﴾
من جاء بالحسنة فله خير منها وهم من فزع يومئذ ءامنون
Say, “I have been commanded only to worship the Lord of this city [of Makkah] Who made it sacred and to Whom belongs all things. And I am commanded to be one of those who submit to Allah [in Islam],
وَمَن جَآءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِي اِلنَّارِ هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿92﴾
ومن جاء بالسيية فكبت وجوههم في النار هل تجزون إلا ما كنتم تعملون
and to recite the Qur’an.” Then whoever chooses guidance, it is only for his own good; but whoever chooses to go astray, say [O Prophet], “I am only one of the warners.”
إِنَّمَا أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ رَبَّ هَٰذِهِ اِلْبَلْدَةِ اِلذِي حَرَّمَهَا وَلَهُ كُلُّ شَيْءٖ وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ اَلْمُسْلِمِينَ﴿93﴾
إنما أمرت أن أعبد رب هذه البلدة الذي حرمها وله كل شيء وأمرت أن أكون من المسلمين
And say, “All praise is for Allah. He will show you His signs, then you will acknowledge them. Your Lord is not unaware of what you do.”
وَأَنْ أَتْلُوَاْ اَلْقُرْءَانَ فَمَنِ اِهْتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِي لِنَفْسِهِ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَقُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا مِنَ اَلْمُنذِرِينَ﴿94﴾
وأن أتلوا القرءان فمن اهتدى فإنما يهتدي لنفسه ومن ضل فقل إنما أنا من المنذرين
وَقُلِ اِلْحَمْدُ لِلهِ سَيُرِيكُمْ ءَايَٰتِهِ فَتَعْرِفُونَهَا وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ﴿95﴾
وقل الحمد لله سيريكم ءايته فتعرفونها وما ربك بغفل عما تعملون
