وَالنَّٰزِعَٰتِ غَرْقاٗ﴿1﴾
والنزعت غرقا
By those who pull out [evil souls] harshly,
وَالنَّٰشِطَٰتِ نَشْطاٗ﴿2﴾
والنشطت نشطا
and by those who draw out [good souls] gently,
وَالسَّٰبِحَٰتِ سَبْحاٗ﴿3﴾
والسبحت سبحا
and by those who glide swiftly,
فَالسَّٰبِقَٰتِ سَبْقاٗ﴿4﴾
فالسبقت سبقا
and those who overtake one another as in a race,
فَالْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمْراٗ﴿5﴾
فالمدبرت أمرا
and those who carry out the command [of Allah],
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ اُلرَّاجِفَةُ﴿6﴾
يوم ترجف الراجفة
on the Day when the earth convulses [by the first Blast],
تَتْبَعُهَا اَلرَّادِفَةُ﴿7﴾
تتبعها الرادفة
followed by the second Blast,
قُلُوبٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ وَاجِفَةٌ﴿8﴾
قلوب يومئذ واجفة
hearts will be pounding on that Day,
أَبْصَٰرُهَا خَٰشِعَةٞ﴿9﴾
أبصرها خشعة
and their eyes will be downcast.
يَقُولُونَ أَٰنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي اِلْحَافِرَةِ﴿10﴾
يقولون أنا لمردودون في الحافرة
They say, “Will we be brought back to life,
إِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰماٗ نَّخِرَةٗ﴿11﴾
إذا كنا عظما نخرة
after we have turned into decayed bones?”
قَالُواْ تِلْكَ إِذاٗ كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٞ﴿12﴾
قالوا تلك إذا كرة خاسرة
They say, “Then that would surely be a losing return!”
فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ﴿13﴾
فإنما هي زجرة وحدة
It will only be a single Blast,
فَإِذَا هُم بِالسَّاهِرَةِ﴿14﴾
فإذا هم بالساهرة
then they will immediately be above the ground.
هَلْ أَتَيٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰ﴿15﴾
هل أتيك حديث موسى
Has there come to you the story of Moses,
إِذْ نَادَيٰهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ اِلْمُقَدَّسِ طُوَى﴿16﴾
إذ ناديه ربه بالواد المقدس طوى
when his Lord called out to him at the sacred valley of Tuwa?
اَذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ﴿17﴾
اذهب إلى فرعون إنه طغى
[Saying,] “Go to Pharaoh, for he has transgressed all bounds”.
فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰ أَن تَزَّكَّىٰ﴿18﴾
فقل هل لك إلى أن تزكى
And say: ‘Are you willing to be purified,
وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ﴿19﴾
وأهديك إلى ربك فتخشى
and I will guide you to your Lord so that you may fear Him?’”
فَأَرَيٰهُ اُلْأٓيَةَ اَلْكُبْرَىٰ﴿20﴾
فأريه الأية الكبرى
Then Moses showed him the greatest sign.
فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ﴿21﴾
فكذب وعصى
But Pharaoh denied it and disobeyed.
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ﴿22﴾
ثم أدبر يسعى
Then he turned back striving to plot.
فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ﴿23﴾
فحشر فنادى
He gathered [his people] and proclaimed,
فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ اُلْأَعْلَىٰ﴿24﴾
فقال أنا ربكم الأعلى
saying, “I am your lord, the most high.”
فَأَخَذَهُ اُللَّهُ نَكَالَ اَلْأٓخِرَةِ وَالْأُولَىٰ﴿25﴾
فأخذه الله نكال الأخرة والأولى
So Allah seized him for an exemplary punishment in this life and in the Hereafter.
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةٗ لِّمَنْ يَّخْشَىٰ﴿26﴾
إن في ذلك لعبرة لمن يخشى
Indeed, there is a lesson in this for those who fear Allah.
ءَٰانتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقاً أَمِ اِلسَّمَآءُ بَنَيٰهَا﴿27﴾
ءانتم أشد خلقا أم السماء بنيها
Are you more difficult to create or the heaven that He built?
رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّيٰهَا﴿28﴾
رفع سمكها فسويها
He raised its vault high and proportioned it,
وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَيٰهَا﴿29﴾
وأغطش ليلها وأخرج ضحيها
and darkened its night and brought forth its daylight.
وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَيٰهَا﴿30﴾
والأرض بعد ذلك دحيها
And thereafter He spread out the earth,
أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرْعَيٰهَا﴿31﴾
أخرج منها ماءها ومرعيها
brought forth from it its water and its pasture,
وَالْجِبَالَ أَرْسَيٰهَا﴿32﴾
والجبال أرسيها
and set the mountains firmly,
مَتَٰعاٗ لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَٰمِكُمْ﴿33﴾
متعا لكم ولأنعمكم
as a provision for you and your grazing livestock.
فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ اِلطَّآمَّةُ اُلْكُبْرَىٰ﴿34﴾
فإذا جاءت الطامة الكبرى
But when the Supreme Calamity comes,
يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ اُلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ﴿35﴾
يوم يتذكر الإنسن ما سعى
on that Day man will remember all what he did,
وَبُرِّزَتِ اِلْجَحِيمُ لِمَنْ يَّرَىٰ﴿36﴾
وبرزت الجحيم لمن يرى
and the Blazing Fire will be exposed for all to see.
فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ وَءَاثَرَ اَلْحَيَوٰةَ اَلدُّنْيَا﴿37﴾
فأما من طغى وءاثر الحيوة الدنيا
As for those who transgressed,
فَإِنَّ اَلْجَحِيمَ هِيَ اَلْمَأْوَىٰ﴿38﴾
فإن الجحيم هي المأوى
and preferred the life of this world,
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى اَلنَّفْسَ عَنِ اِلْهَوَىٰ﴿39﴾
وأما من خاف مقام ربه ونهى النفس عن الهوى
the Blazing Fire will be their abode.
فَإِنَّ اَلْجَنَّةَ هِيَ اَلْمَأْوَىٰ﴿40﴾
فإن الجنة هي المأوى
But those who feared standing before their Lord and restrained themselves from evil desires,
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ اِلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَيٰهَا﴿41﴾
يسـلونك عن الساعة أيان مرسيها
Paradise will surely be their abode.
فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَيٰهَا﴿42﴾
فيم أنت من ذكريها
They ask you concerning the Hour, “When will it be?”
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَيٰهَا﴿43﴾
إلى ربك منتهيها
How could you possibly mention that?
إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَنْ يَّخْشَيٰهَا﴿44﴾
إنما أنت منذر من يخشيها
Its knowledge rests only with your Lord.
كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُواْ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَيٰهَا﴿45﴾
كأنهم يوم يرونها لم يلبثوا إلا عشية أو ضحيها
You are only a warner for those who fear it.
