إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَنْ يَّأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ﴿1﴾
إنا أرسلنا نوحا إلى قومه أن أنذر قومك من قبل أن يأتيهم عذاب أليم
Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, “Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment.”
قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٌ﴿2﴾
قال يقوم إني لكم نذير مبين
He said: “O my people, indeed I am a clear warner to you,
أَنُ اُعْبُدُواْ اُللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ﴿3﴾
أن اعبدوا الله واتقوه وأطيعون
that you worship Allah and fear Him, and obey me;
يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّىً إِنَّ أَجَلَ اَللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ﴿4﴾
يغفر لكم من ذنوبكم ويؤخركم إلى أجل مسمى إن أجل الله إذا جاء لا يؤخر لو كنتم تعلمون
He will forgive you some of your sins and grant you respite until an appointed term. Indeed, when Allah’s appointed term comes, it cannot be delayed, if you only knew!”
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلاٗ وَنَهَاراٗ﴿5﴾
قال رب إني دعوت قومي ليلا ونهارا
He said, “My Lord, I have surely called my people night and day,
فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِيَ إِلَّا فِرَاراٗ﴿6﴾
فلم يزدهم دعاءي إلا فرارا
but my call only drove them further away.
وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُواْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ فِي ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْاْ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ اُسْتِكْبَاراٗ﴿7﴾
وإني كلما دعوتهم لتغفر لهم جعلوا أصبعهم في ءاذانهم واستغشوا ثيابهم وأصروا واستكبروا استكبارا
Every time I call them so that You may forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and cover their faces with their garments, and persist in obstinacy and grow extremely arrogant.
ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَاراٗ﴿8﴾
ثم إني دعوتهم جهارا
Then I called them openly,
ثُمَّ إِنِّيَ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَاراٗ﴿9﴾
ثم إني أعلنت لهم وأسررت لهم إسرارا
then I addressed them in public and in private,
فَقُلْتُ اُسْتَغْفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّاراٗ﴿10﴾
فقلت استغفروا ربكم إنه كان غفارا
I said, ‘Seek forgiveness from your Lord. Indeed, He is Most Forgiving.
يُرْسِلِ اِلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَاراٗ﴿11﴾
يرسل السماء عليكم مدرارا
He will shower you with abundant rain from the sky,
وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٖ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّٰتٖ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَٰراٗ﴿12﴾
ويمددكم بأمول وبنين ويجعل لكم جنت ويجعل لكم أنهرا
and He will give you wealth and children, and bestow upon you gardens and rivers.
مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلهِ وَقَاراٗ﴿13﴾
ما لكم لا ترجون لله وقارا
What is the matter with you that you do not fear the Majesty of Allah,
وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَاراً﴿14﴾
وقد خلقكم أطوارا
when He has created you in stages?
أَلَمْ تَرَوْاْ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اَللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقاٗ﴿15﴾
ألم تروا كيف خلق الله سبع سموت طباقا
Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one above another,
وَجَعَلَ اَلْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُوراٗ وَجَعَلَ اَلشَّمْسَ سِرَاجاٗ﴿16﴾
وجعل القمر فيهن نورا وجعل الشمس سراجا
and has placed the moon therein as a light and the sun as a burning lamp?
وَاللَّهُ أَنبَتَكُم مِّنَ اَلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتاٗ﴿17﴾
والله أنبتكم من الأرض نباتا
Allah has produced you from the earth like a plant,
ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجاٗ﴿18﴾
ثم يعيدكم فيها ويخرجكم إخراجا
then He will return you into it and then will bring you out again.
وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اُلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطاٗ﴿19﴾
والله جعل لكم الأرض بساطا
Allah has made the earth widespread for you
لِّتَسْلُكُواْ مِنْهَا سُبُلاٗ فِجَاجاٗ﴿20﴾
لتسلكوا منها سبلا فجاجا
so that you may tread its spacious paths.’”
قَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي وَاتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ إِلَّا خَسَاراٗ﴿21﴾
قال نوح رب إنهم عصوني واتبعوا من لم يزده ماله وولده إلا خسارا
Noah said, “My Lord, they have disobeyed me and followed those whose wealth and children did not increase them except in loss.
وَمَكَرُواْ مَكْراٗ كُبَّاراٗ﴿22﴾
ومكروا مكرا كبارا
They have contrived a mighty plot,
وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وُدّاٗ وَلَا سُوَاعاٗ﴿23﴾
وقالوا لا تذرن ءالهتكم ولا تذرن ودا ولا سواعا
They said, ‘Do not abandon your gods; and do not abandon Wadd, Suwā‘, Yaghūth, Ya‘ūq, and Nasr.’
وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْراٗ﴿24﴾
ولا يغوث ويعوق ونسرا
They have led many astray. So [O Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error.”
وَقَدْ أَضَلُّواْ كَثِيراٗ وَلَا تَزِدِ اِلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلاٗ﴿25﴾
وقد أضلوا كثيرا ولا تزد الظلمين إلا ضللا
Because of their sins, they were drowned and then were cast into the Fire, and they did not find any helpers against Allah.
مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُواْ فَأُدْخِلُواْ نَاراٗ﴿26﴾
مما خطيـتهم أغرقوا فأدخلوا نارا
Noah said, “My Lord, do not leave on earth a single disbeliever.
فَلَمْ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اِللَّهِ أَنصَاراٗ﴿27﴾
فلم يجدوا لهم من دون الله أنصارا
For if You leave them, they will surely lead Your slaves astray and beget none but wicked disbelievers.
وَقَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى اَلْأَرْضِ مِنَ اَلْكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّاراً﴿28﴾
وقال نوح رب لا تذر على الأرض من الكفرين ديارا
My Lord, forgive me and my parents, and whoever enters my house as a believer, and all the believing men and women, and do not increase the wrongdoers except in ruin.”
إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُواْ إِلَّا فَاجِراٗ كَفَّاراٗ﴿29﴾
إنك إن تذرهم يضلوا عبادك ولا يلدوا إلا فاجرا كفارا
رَّبِّ اِغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِي مُؤْمِناٗ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ اِلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَاراَ﴿30﴾
رب اغفر لي ولولدي ولمن دخل بيتي مؤمنا وللمؤمنين والمؤمنت ولا تزد الظلمين إلا تبارا
