ق

قَٓ وَالْقُرْءَانِ اِلْمَجِيدِ﴿1﴾

ق والقرءان المجيد

Qāf. By the Glorious Qur’an!

بَلْ عَجِبُواْ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٞ مِّنْهُمْ فَقَالَ اَلْكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا شَيْءٌ عَجِيبٌ﴿2﴾

بل عجبوا أن جاءهم منذر منهم فقال الكفرون هذا شيء عجيب

But they wonder that a warner has come to them from among themselves, so the disbelievers say, “This is something strange!

أَٰذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَاباٗ ذَٰلِكَ رَجْعُ بَعِيدٞ﴿3﴾

أذا متنا وكنا ترابا ذلك رجع بعيد

What! Is it when we die and become dust [will we return to life]? That is a far-fetched return.”

قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا تَنقُصُ اُلْأَرْضُ مِنْهُمْ وَعِندَنَا كِتَٰبٌ حَفِيظُ﴿4﴾

قد علمنا ما تنقص الأرض منهم وعندنا كتب حفيظ

We certainly know what the earth consumes of them [after their death], and with Us is a Preserved Record.

بَلْ كَذَّبُواْ بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ فَهُمْ فِي أَمْرٖ مَّرِيجٍ﴿5﴾

بل كذبوا بالحق لما جاءهم فهم في أمر مريج

Rather they rejected the truth when it came to them, so they are in a state of confusion.

أَفَلَمْ يَنظُرُواْ إِلَى اَلسَّمَآءِ فَوْقَهُمْ كَيْفَ بَنَيْنَٰهَا وَزَيَّنَّٰهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِن فُرُوجٖ﴿6﴾

أفلم ينظروا إلى السماء فوقهم كيف بنينها وزينها وما لها من فروج

Have they not then looked at the sky above them – how We built it and adorned it [with stars], and it has no rifts?

وَالْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجِ بَهِيجٖ﴿7﴾

والأرض مددنها وألقينا فيها روسي وأنبتنا فيها من كل زوج بهيج

And We have spread out the earth and set therein firm mountains, and caused to grow therein plants of every pleasant kind,

تَبْصِرَةٗ وَذِكْرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبْدٖ مُّنِيبٖ﴿8﴾

تبصرة وذكرى لكل عبد منيب

as a source of insight and a reminder to every slave who turns [to Allah].

وَنَزَّلْنَا مِنَ اَلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ مُّبَٰرَكاٗ فَأَنبَتْنَا بِهِ جَنَّٰتٖ وَحَبَّ اَلْحَصِيدِ﴿9﴾

ونزلنا من السماء ماء مبركا فأنبتنا به جنت وحب الحصيد

And We send down from the sky blessed rain, with which We cause to grow gardens and grain for harvest,

وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَٰتٖ لَّهَا طَلْعٞ نَّضِيدٞ﴿10﴾

والنخل باسقت لها طلع نضيد

and towering palm trees having clustered fruit,

رِّزْقاٗ لِّلْعِبَادِ وَأَحْيَيْنَا بِهِ بَلْدَةٗ مَّيْتاٗ كَذَٰلِكَ اَلْخُرُوجُ﴿11﴾

رزقا للعباد وأحيينا به بلدة ميتا كذلك الخروج

as a provision for people, and We revive thereby a dead land; likewise will be the resurrection.

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٖ وَأَصْحَٰبُ اُلرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ﴿12﴾

كذبت قبلهم قوم نوح وأصحب الرس وثمود

The people of Noah rejected [the truth] before them, as well as the companions of the Well and Thamūd,

وَعَادٞ وَفِرْعَوْنُ وَإِخْوَٰنُ لُوطٖ﴿13﴾

وعاد وفرعون وإخون لوط

and so did ‘Ād, Pharaoh, the people of Lot,

وَأَصْحَٰبُ اُلْأَيْكَةِ وَقَوْمُ تُبَّعٖ كُلّٞ كَذَّبَ اَلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ﴿14﴾

وأصحب الأيكة وقوم تبع كل كذب الرسل فحق وعيد

and the dwellers of the Forest, and the people of Tubba‘. All of them rejected the messengers, so My warning was fulfilled.

أَفَعَيِينَا بِالْخَلْقِ اِلْأَوَّلِ بَلْ هُمْ فِي لَبْسٖ مِّنْ خَلْقٖ جَدِيدٖ﴿15﴾

أفعيينا بالخلق الأول بل هم في لبس من خلق جديد

Were We wearied by their first creation? No indeed, yet they are in confusion concerning the second creation.

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا اَلْإِنسَٰنَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِ نَفْسُهُ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ اِلْوَرِيدِ﴿16﴾

ولقد خلقنا الإنسن ونعلم ما توسوس به نفسه ونحن أقرب إليه من حبل الوريد

We have created man and know what his soul whispers within him, for We are closer to him than his jugular vein.

إِذْ يَتَلَقَّى اَلْمُتَلَقِّيَٰنِ عَنِ اِلْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ اِلشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٞ﴿17﴾

إذ يتلقى المتلقين عن اليمين وعن الشمال قعيد

When the two angel scribes, constantly accompanying him, one on the right, and the other on the left.

مَّا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلٍ إِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٞ﴿18﴾

ما يلفظ من قول إلا لديه رقيب عتيد

Not a single word he utters but there is with him a vigilant watcher, ready [to record it].

وَجَآءَتْ سَكْرَةُ اُلْمَوْتِ بِالْحَقِّ ذَٰلِكَ مَا كُنتَ مِنْهُ تَحِيدُ﴿19﴾

وجاءت سكرة الموت بالحق ذلك ما كنت منه تحيد

The throes of death will come with the truth. This is what you were trying to avoid.

وَنُفِخَ فِي اِلصُّورِ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ اُلْوَعِيدِ﴿20﴾

ونفخ في الصور ذلك يوم الوعيد

And the Trumpet will be blown; that is the Day of [the given] warning.

وَجَآءَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٖ مَّعَهَا سَآئِقٞ وَشَهِيدٞ﴿21﴾

وجاءت كل نفس معها سائق وشهيد

Everyone will come, accompanied by an angel to drive him and another to testify.

لَّقَدْ كُنتَ فِي غَفْلَةٖ مِّنْ هَٰذَا فَكَشَفْنَا عَنكَ غِطَآءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ اَلْيَوْمَ حَدِيدٞ﴿22﴾

لقد كنت في غفلة من هذا فكشفنا عنك غطاءك فبصرك اليوم حديد

“You were heedless of this; now We have removed your veil, so your vision is sharp Today.”

وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُ هَٰذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيدٌ﴿23﴾

وقال قرينه هذا ما لدي عتيد

His angel-companion will say, “Here is the record ready with me.”

أَلْقِيَا فِي جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ عَنِيدٖ﴿24﴾

ألقيا في جهنم كل كفار عنيد

[It will be said to the two angels], “Throw into Hell every obstinate disbeliever,

مَّنَّاعٖ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٖ مُّرِيبٍ﴿25﴾

مناع للخير معتد مريب

every withholder of good, transgressor, and doubter,

اِلذِي جَعَلَ مَعَ اَللَّهِ إِلَٰهاً ءَاخَرَ فَأَلْقِيَٰهُ فِي اِلْعَذَابِ اِلشَّدِيدِ﴿26﴾

الذي جعل مع الله إلها ءاخر فألقيه في العذاب الشديد

who set up with Allah another god. Throw him into the severe punishment.”

قَالَ قَرِينُهُ رَبَّنَا مَا أَطْغَيْتُهُ وَلَٰكِن كَانَ فِي ضَلَٰلِ بَعِيدٖ﴿27﴾

قال قرينه ربنا ما أطغيته ولكن كان في ضلل بعيد

His [devil] companion will say, “Our Lord, I did not mislead him, but he himself was far astray.”

قَالَ لَا تَخْتَصِمُواْ لَدَيَّ وَقَدْ قَدَّمْتُ إِلَيْكُم بِالْوَعِيدِ﴿28﴾

قال لا تختصموا لدي وقد قدمت إليكم بالوعيد

Allah will say, “Do not argue in My presence, for I had already given you the warning.

مَا يُبَدَّلُ اُلْقَوْلُ لَدَيَّ وَمَا أَنَا بِظَلَّٰمٖ لِّلْعَبِيدِ﴿29﴾

ما يبدل القول لدي وما أنا بظلم للعبيد

My Word cannot be changed, nor am I unjust to My slaves.”

يَوْمَ يَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلِ اِمْتَلَأْتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلْ مِن مَّزِيدٖ﴿30﴾

يوم يقول لجهنم هل امتلأت وتقول هل من مزيد

[Beware of] the Day when We will say to Hell, “Have you reached your fill?” It will say, “Are there any more?”

وَأُزْلِفَتِ اِلْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ﴿31﴾

وأزلفت الجنة للمتقين غير بعيد

Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, not far off.

هَٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّابٍ حَفِيظٖ﴿32﴾

هذا ما توعدون لكل أواب حفيظ

[It will be said], “This is what you were promised; this is for everyone who constantly turned [to Allah] and was dutiful,

مَّنْ خَشِيَ اَلرَّحْمَٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَجَآءَ بِقَلْبٖ مُّنِيبٍ﴿33﴾

من خشي الرحمن بالغيب وجاء بقلب منيب

who feared the Most Compassionate unseen, and came with a devoted heart.

اُدْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٖ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ اُلْخُلُودِ﴿34﴾

ادخلوها بسلم ذلك يوم الخلود

Enter it in peace. This is the Day of eternity.”

لَهُم مَّا يَشَآءُونَ فِيهَا وَلَدَيْنَا مَزِيدٞ﴿35﴾

لهم ما يشاءون فيها ولدينا مزيد

They will have therein all what they wish for, and We have yet more.

وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُم بَطْشاٗ فَنَقَّبُواْ فِي اِلْبِلَٰدِ هَلْ مِن مَّحِيصٍ﴿36﴾

وكم أهلكنا قبلهم من قرن هم أشد منهم بطشا فنقبوا في البلد هل من محيص

How many nations We destroyed before these [Makkans] who were stronger than them in might! They sought refuge in the land. Did they find any escape?

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْرَىٰ لِمَن كَانَ لَهُ قَلْبٌ أَوْ أَلْقَى اَلسَّمْعَ وَهْوَ شَهِيدٞ﴿37﴾

إن في ذلك لذكرى لمن كان له قلب أو ألقى السمع وهو شهيد

Indeed, in that is a reminder for anyone who has a [mindful] heart or lends an attentive ear.

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا اَلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِن لُّغُوبٖ﴿38﴾

ولقد خلقنا السموت والأرض وما بينهما في ستة أيام وما مسنا من لغوب

Indeed, We created the heavens and earth and all that is between them in six days, and no weariness touched Us.

فَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ اِلشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ اَلْغُرُوبِ﴿39﴾

فاصبر على ما يقولون وسبح بحمد ربك قبل طلوع الشمس وقبل الغروب

So bear patiently [O Prophet] what they say, and glorify the praise of your Lord before sunrise and before sunset.

وَمِنَ اَليْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَٰرَ اَلسُّجُودِ﴿40﴾

ومن اليل فسبحه وإدبر السجود

And glorify Him in the night and after the prayers.

وَاسْتَمِعْ يَوْمَ يُنَادِ اِلْمُنَادِ مِن مَّكَانٖ قَرِيبٖ﴿41﴾

واستمع يوم يناد المناد من مكان قريب

And listen! On the Day when the Caller will call out from a nearby place,

يَوْمَ يَسْمَعُونَ اَلصَّيْحَةَ بِالْحَقِّ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ اُلْخُرُوجِ﴿42﴾

يوم يسمعون الصيحة بالحق ذلك يوم الخروج

the Day when they will hear the Blast [of the second Trumpet] in truth. That is the Day of Resurrection.

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِ وَنُمِيتُ وَإِلَيْنَا اَلْمَصِيرُ﴿43﴾

إنا نحن نحي ونميت وإلينا المصير

Indeed, it is We Who give life and cause death, and to Us is the final return.

يَوْمَ تَشَّقَّقُ اُلْأَرْضُ عَنْهُمْ سِرَاعاٗ ذَٰلِكَ حَشْرٌ عَلَيْنَا يَسِيرٞ﴿44﴾

يوم تشقق الأرض عنهم سراعا ذلك حشر علينا يسير

On the Day when the earth will be rent asunder for them as they hasten forth [from their graves]; that is an easy gathering for Us.

نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ وَمَا أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِجَبَّارٖ فَذَكِّرْ بِالْقُرْءَانِ مَنْ يَّخَافُ وَعِيدِ﴿45﴾

نحن أعلم بما يقولون وما أنت عليهم بجبار فذكر بالقرءان من يخاف وعيد

We know best what they say, and you are not there to compel them to believe. But remind with the Qur’an those who fear My warning.
