القَصَص

طَسِٓمِّٓ تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ اُلْكِتَٰبِ اِلْمُبِينِ﴿1﴾

طسم تلك ءايت الكتب المبين

Tā Sīn Mīm.

نَتْلُواْ عَلَيْكَ مِن نَّبَإِ مُوسَىٰ وَفِرْعَوْنَ بِالْحَقِّ لِقَوْمٖ يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿2﴾

نتلوا عليك من نبإ موسى وفرعون بالحق لقوم يؤمنون

These are the verses of the clear Book.

إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ عَلَا فِي اِلْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلَ أَهْلَهَا شِيَعاٗ يَسْتَضْعِفُ طَآئِفَةٗ مِّنْهُمْ يُذَبِّحُ أَبْنَآءَهُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيِ نِسَآءَهُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ اَلْمُفْسِدِينَ﴿3﴾

إن فرعون علا في الأرض وجعل أهلها شيعا يستضعف طائفة منهم يذبح أبناءهم ويستحي نساءهم إنه كان من المفسدين

We recount to you part of the story of Moses and Pharaoh in truth for people who believe.

وَنُرِيدُ أَن نَّمُنَّ عَلَى اَلذِينَ اَسْتُضْعِفُواْ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ أَئِمَّةٗ وَنَجْعَلَهُمُ اُلْوَٰرِثِينَ﴿4﴾

ونريد أن نمن على الذين استضعفوا في الأرض ونجعلهم أئمة ونجعلهم الورثين

Indeed, Pharaoh arrogantly elevated himself in the land and divided its people into different factions; oppressing one group of them, slaughtering their sons and sparing their women alive. He was truly one of those who spread corruption.

وَنُمَكِّنَ لَهُمْ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ وَنُرِيَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَٰنَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَحْذَرُونَ﴿5﴾

ونمكن لهم في الأرض ونري فرعون وهامن وجنودهما منهم ما كانوا يحذرون

But We wanted to bestow favor upon those who were oppressed in the land, and make them leaders and inheritors [of the land],

وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَرْضِعِيهِ فَإِذَا خِفْتِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَلْقِيهِ فِي اِلْيَمِّ وَلَا تَخَافِي وَلَا تَحْزَنِي إِنَّا رَآدُّوهُ إِلَيْكِ وَجَاعِلُوهُ مِنَ اَلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿6﴾

وأوحينا إلى أم موسى أن أرضعيه فإذا خفت عليه فألقيه في اليم ولا تخافي ولا تحزني إنا رادوه إليك وجاعلوه من المرسلين

and to establish them in the land, and to show Pharaoh, Hāmān and their soldiers that which they feared.

فَالْتَقَطَهُ ءَالُ فِرْعَوْنَ لِيَكُونَ لَهُمْ عَدُوّاٗ وَحَزَناً إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَٰنَ وَجُنُودَهُمَا كَانُواْ خَٰطِـِٕينَ﴿7﴾

فالتقطه ءال فرعون ليكون لهم عدوا وحزنا إن فرعون وهامن وجنودهما كانوا خطـين

We inspired the mother of Moses, “Suckle him; but when you fear for him, cast him into the river, and do not fear or grieve. We will surely return him to you, and will make him one of the messengers.”

وَقَالَتِ اِمْرَأَتُ فِرْعَوْنَ قُرَّتُ عَيْنٖ لِّي وَلَكَ لَا تَقْتُلُوهُ عَسَىٰ أَنْ يَّنفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَداٗ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ﴿8﴾

وقالت امرأت فرعون قرت عين لي ولك لا تقتلوه عسى أن ينفعنا أو نتخذه ولدا وهم لا يشعرون

Then the household of Pharaoh picked him up, so that he may become an enemy to them and a source of grief. Indeed, Pharaoh, Hāmān and their soldiers were wrongdoers.

وَأَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰ فَٰرِغاً إِن كَٰدَتْ لَتُبْدِي بِهِ لَوْلَا أَن رَّبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قَلْبِهَا لِتَكُونَ مِنَ اَلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿9﴾

وأصبح فؤاد أم موسى فرغا إن كدت لتبدي به لولا أن ربطنا على قلبها لتكون من المؤمنين

Pharaoh’s wife said, “He is a source of joy for me and you. Do not kill him; he will probably benefit us, or we may adopt him as a son.” They were unaware [of the consequences].

وَقَالَتْ لِأُخْتِهِ قُصِّيهِ فَبَصُرَتْ بِهِ عَن جُنُبٖ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ﴿10﴾

وقالت لأخته قصيه فبصرت به عن جنب وهم لا يشعرون

The heart of Moses’ mother became restless; she was about to disclose it, had We not reassured her heart so that she would maintain her faith [in Allah’s promise].

وَحَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِ اِلْمَرَاضِعَ مِن قَبْلُ فَقَالَتْ هَلْ أَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ أَهْلِ بَيْتٖ يَكْفُلُونَهُ لَكُمْ وَهُمْ لَهُ نَٰصِحُونَ﴿11﴾

وحرمنا عليه المراضع من قبل فقالت هل أدلكم على أهل بيت يكفلونه لكم وهم له نصحون

She said to his sister, “Keep track of him.” So she watched him from a distance, without them noticing.

فَرَدَدْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ أُمِّهِ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اَللَّهِ حَقّٞ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ﴿12﴾

فرددنه إلى أمه كي تقر عينها ولا تحزن ولتعلم أن وعد الله حق ولكن أكثرهم لا يعلمون

We had already forbidden for him all wet nurses, then she said, “Shall I direct you to a household who will nurse him for you and take good care of him?”

وَلَمَّا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَاسْتَوَىٰ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُ حُكْماٗ وَعِلْماٗ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي اِلْمُحْسِنِينَ﴿13﴾

ولما بلغ أشده واستوى ءاتينه حكما وعلما وكذلك نجزي المحسنين

Then We returned him to his mother so that she would be comforted and not grieve, and so that she would know that Allah’s promise is true. Yet most of them do not know.

وَدَخَلَ اَلْمَدِينَةَ عَلَىٰ حِينِ غَفْلَةٖ مِّنْ أَهْلِهَا فَوَجَدَ فِيهَا رَجُلَيْنِ يَقْتَتِلَٰنِ هَٰذَا مِن شِيعَتِهِ وَهَٰذَا مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ فَاسْتَغَٰثَهُ اُلذِي مِن شِيعَتِهِ عَلَى اَلذِي مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ فَوَكَزَهُ مُوسَىٰ فَقَضَىٰ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ هَٰذَا مِنْ عَمَلِ اِلشَّيْطَٰنِ إِنَّهُ عَدُوّٞ مُّضِلّٞ مُّبِينٞ﴿14﴾

ودخل المدينة على حين غفلة من أهلها فوجد فيها رجلين يقتتلن هذا من شيعته وهذا من عدوه فاستغثه الذي من شيعته على الذي من عدوه فوكزه موسى فقضى عليه قال هذا من عمل الشيطن إنه عدو مضل مبين

When he reached his full strength and maturity, We gave him wisdom and knowledge. This is how We reward those who do good.

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَغَفَرَ لَهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ اَلْغَفُورُ اُلرَّحِيمُ﴿15﴾

قال رب إني ظلمت نفسي فاغفر لي فغفر له إنه هو الغفور الرحيم

Once he entered the city unnoticed by its people, and found two men fighting: one of his own people and the other of his enemies. The one from his own people called him for help against his enemy, so Moses struck him with his fist, causing his death. Moses said, “This is of Satan’s work; he is a sworn enemy who mislead people.”

قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَا أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ فَلَنْ أَكُونَ ظَهِيراٗ لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ﴿16﴾

قال رب بما أنعمت علي فلن أكون ظهيرا للمجرمين

He said, “My Lord, I have wronged myself, so forgive me,” Then He forgave him, for He is indeed the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

فَأَصْبَحَ فِي اِلْمَدِينَةِ خَآئِفاٗ يَتَرَقَّبُ فَإِذَا اَلذِي اِسْتَنصَرَهُ بِالْأَمْسِ يَسْتَصْرِخُهُ قَالَ لَهُ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّكَ لَغَوِيّٞ مُّبِينٞ﴿17﴾

فأصبح في المدينة خائفا يترقب فإذا الذي استنصره بالأمس يستصرخه قال له موسى إنك لغوي مبين

He said, “My Lord, because of the blessings that You have bestowed upon me, I will never be a supporter of the wicked.”

فَلَمَّا أَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَّبْطِشَ بِالذِي هُوَ عَدُوّٞ لَّهُمَا قَالَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ أَتُرِيدُ أَن تَقْتُلَنِي كَمَا قَتَلْتَ نَفْساَ بِالْأَمْسِ إِن تُرِيدُ إِلَّا أَن تَكُونَ جَبَّاراٗ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ وَمَا تُرِيدُ أَن تَكُونَ مِنَ اَلْمُصْلِحِينَ﴿18﴾

فلما أن أراد أن يبطش بالذي هو عدو لهما قال يموسى أتريد أن تقتلني كما قتلت نفسا بالأمس إن تريد إلا أن تكون جبارا في الأرض وما تريد أن تكون من المصلحين

Then he became fearful and vigilant in the city; suddenly the one who sought his help the day before cried out to him again for help. Moses said to him, “You are clearly a troublemaker.”

وَجَآءَ رَجُلٞ مِّنْ أَقْصَا اَلْمَدِينَةِ يَسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَٰمُوسَىٰ إِنَّ اَلْمَلَأَ يَأْتَمِرُونَ بِكَ لِيَقْتُلُوكَ فَاخْرُجْ إِنِّي لَكَ مِنَ اَلنَّٰصِحِينَ﴿19﴾

وجاء رجل من أقصا المدينة يسعى قال يموسى إن الملأ يأتمرون بك ليقتلوك فاخرج إني لك من النصحين

When he was about to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them, he said, “O Moses, do you want to kill me as you killed that person yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land, and you do not want to be one of those who put things right!”

فَخَرَجَ مِنْهَا خَآئِفاٗ يَتَرَقَّبُ قَالَ رَبِّ نَجِّنِي مِنَ اَلْقَوْمِ اِلظَّٰلِمِينَ﴿20﴾

فخرج منها خائفا يترقب قال رب نجني من القوم الظلمين

Then there came a man rushing from the farthest end of the city, and said, “O Moses, the chiefs are conspiring to kill you, so leave. I am giving you sincere advice.”

وَلَمَّا تَوَجَّهَ تِلْقَآءَ مَدْيَنَ قَالَ عَسَىٰ رَبِّيَ أَنْ يَّهْدِيَنِي سَوَآءَ اَلسَّبِيلِ﴿21﴾

ولما توجه تلقاء مدين قال عسى ربي أن يهديني سواء السبيل

So he left the city, fearful and vigilant. He said, “My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people.”

وَلَمَّا وَرَدَ مَآءَ مَدْيَنَ وَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ أُمَّةٗ مِّنَ اَلنَّاسِ يَسْقُونَ﴿22﴾

ولما ورد ماء مدين وجد عليه أمة من الناس يسقون

When he headed towards Midian, he said, “My Lord will surely guide me to a straight way.”

وَوَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمُ اُمْرَأَتَيْنِ تَذُودَٰنِ قَالَ مَا خَطْبُكُمَا قَالَتَا لَا نَسْقِي حَتَّىٰ يُصْدِرَ اَلرِّعَآءُ وَأَبُونَا شَيْخٞ كَبِيرٞ﴿23﴾

ووجد من دونهم امرأتين تذودن قال ما خطبكما قالتا لا نسقي حتى يصدر الرعاء وأبونا شيخ كبير

When he arrived at the well of Midian, he found a crowd of people watering [their flocks] and found apart from them two women holding [their flocks] back. He said, “What is the matter with you?” They said, “We cannot water [them] until the shepherds take [their flocks] away, and our father is a very old man.”

فَسَقَىٰ لَهُمَا ثُمَّ تَوَلَّىٰ إِلَى اَلظِّلِّ فَقَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٖ فَقِيرٞ﴿24﴾

فسقى لهما ثم تولى إلى الظل فقال رب إني لما أنزلت إلي من خير فقير

So he watered [their flocks] for them, then he turned to the shade and said, “My Lord, I am desperately in need of whatever good You may send down to me.”

فَجَآءَتْهُ إِحْدَيٰهُمَا تَمْشِي عَلَى اَسْتِحْيَآءٖ قَالَتْ إِنَّ أَبِي يَدْعُوكَ لِيَجْزِيَكَ أَجْرَ مَا سَقَيْتَ لَنَا فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُ وَقَصَّ عَلَيْهِ اِلْقَصَصَ قَالَ لَا تَخَفْ نَجَوْتَ مِنَ اَلْقَوْمِ اِلظَّٰلِمِينَ﴿25﴾

فجاءته إحديهما تمشي على استحياء قالت إن أبي يدعوك ليجزيك أجر ما سقيت لنا فلما جاءه وقص عليه القصص قال لا تخف نجوت من القوم الظلمين

Then one of the two women came to him, walking modestly. She said, “My father is inviting you so that he may reward you for watering [our flocks] for us.” When he came to him and told him the whole story, he said, “Have no fear. You are now safe from the wrongdoing people.”

قَالَتْ إِحْدَيٰهُمَا يَٰأَبَتِ اِسْتَٰٔجِرْهُ إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَنِ اِسْتَٰٔجَرْتَ اَلْقَوِيُّ اُلْأَمِينُ﴿26﴾

قالت إحديهما يأبت استجره إن خير من استجرت القوي الأمين

One of the two daughters said, “O dear father, hire him; the best one you can hire is the strong and trustworthy.”

قَالَ إِنِّيَ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُنكِحَكَ إِحْدَى اَبْنَتَيَّ هَٰتَيْنِ عَلَىٰ أَن تَأْجُرَنِي ثَمَٰنِيَ حِجَجٖ فَإِنْ أَتْمَمْتَ عَشْراٗ فَمِنْ عِندِكَ وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَيْكَ سَتَجِدُنِيَ إِن شَآءَ اَللَّهُ مِنَ اَلصَّٰلِحِينَ﴿27﴾

قال إني أريد أن أنكحك إحدى ابنتي هتين على أن تأجرني ثمني حجج فإن أتممت عشرا فمن عندك وما أريد أن أشق عليك ستجدني إن شاء الله من الصلحين

He said, “I would like to give you one of these two daughters of mine in marriage, provided that you serve me for eight years; if you complete ten, it will be of your own free will. I do not want to make things difficult for you. You will find me, if Allah wills, from among the righteous.”

قَالَ ذَٰلِكَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ أَيَّمَا اَلْأَجَلَيْنِ قَضَيْتُ فَلَا عُدْوَٰنَ عَلَيَّ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَا نَقُولُ وَكِيلٞ﴿28﴾

قال ذلك بيني وبينك أيما الأجلين قضيت فلا عدون علي والله على ما نقول وكيل

Moses said, “Let that be the agreement between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I complete, there will be no further obligation on me, and Allah is Witness over what we say.”

فَلَمَّا قَضَىٰ مُوسَى اَلْأَجَلَ وَسَارَ بِأَهْلِهِ ءَانَسَ مِن جَانِبِ اِلطُّورِ نَاراٗ قَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ اِمْكُثُواْ إِنِّيَ ءَانَسْتُ نَاراٗ لَّعَلِّيَ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ أَوْ جِذْوَةٖ مِّنَ اَلنَّارِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَ﴿29﴾

فلما قضى موسى الأجل وسار بأهله ءانس من جانب الطور نارا قال لأهله امكثوا إني ءانست نارا لعلي ءاتيكم منها بخبر أو جذوة من النار لعلكم تصطلون

When Moses had completed the term and was traveling with his family, he spotted a fire in the direction of Mount Tūr. He said to his family, “Stay here; I have spotted a fire. Perhaps I will bring you from there some news or a brand of fire so that you may warm yourselves.”

فَلَمَّا أَتَيٰهَا نُودِيَ مِن شَٰطِيِٕ اِلْوَادِ اِلْأَيْمَنِ فِي اِلْبُقْعَةِ اِلْمُبَٰرَكَةِ مِنَ اَلشَّجَرَةِ أَنْ يَّٰمُوسَىٰ إِنِّيَ أَنَا اَللَّهُ رَبُّ اُلْعَٰلَمِينَ﴿30﴾

فلما أتيها نودي من شطي الواد الأيمن في البقعة المبركة من الشجرة أن يموسى إني أنا الله رب العلمين

But when he came to it, he was called from the tree in the sacred ground on the right side of the valley: “O Moses, I am Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

وَأَنْ أَلْقِ عَصَاكَ فَلَمَّا رَءَاهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَآنّٞ وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِراٗ وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ يَٰمُوسَىٰ أَقْبِلْ وَلَا تَخَفْ إِنَّكَ مِنَ اَلْأٓمِنِينَ﴿31﴾

وأن ألق عصاك فلما رءاها تهتز كأنها جان ولى مدبرا ولم يعقب يموسى أقبل ولا تخف إنك من الأمنين

Throw down your staff.” But when he saw it slithering as if it were a snake, he turned and ran away without looking back. [Allah said], “O Moses, come back, and have no fear; you are perfectly safe.

اَسْلُكْ يَدَكَ فِي جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَآءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوٓءٖ وَاضْمُمْ إِلَيْكَ جَنَاحَكَ مِنَ اَلرَّهَبِ فَذَٰنِكَ بُرْهَٰنَٰنِ مِن رَّبِّكَ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ قَوْماٗ فَٰسِقِينَ﴿32﴾

اسلك يدك في جيبك تخرج بيضاء من غير سوء واضمم إليك جناحك من الرهب فذنك برهنن من ربك إلى فرعون وملإيه إنهم كانوا قوما فسقين

Put your hand into your garment, it will come out shining white without blemish, and draw your arms tight to you to calm your fear. These are two proofs from your Lord to Pharaoh and his chiefs, for they are indeed a rebellious people.”

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي قَتَلْتُ مِنْهُمْ نَفْساٗ فَأَخَافُ أَنْ يَّقْتُلُونِ﴿33﴾

قال رب إني قتلت منهم نفسا فأخاف أن يقتلون

Moses said, “My Lord, I have killed one of their men, and I fear that they may kill me.

وَأَخِي هَٰرُونُ هُوَ أَفْصَحُ مِنِّي لِسَاناٗ فَأَرْسِلْهُ مَعِي رِداٗ يُصَدِّقْنِي إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ أَنْ يُّكَذِّبُونِ﴿34﴾

وأخي هرون هو أفصح مني لسانا فأرسله معي ردا يصدقني إني أخاف أن يكذبون

My brother Aaron is more eloquent than me in speech, so send him with me as a helper to confirm my words, for I fear that they may reject me.”

قَالَ سَنَشُدُّ عَضُدَكَ بِأَخِيكَ وَنَجْعَلُ لَكُمَا سُلْطَٰناٗ فَلَا يَصِلُونَ إِلَيْكُمَا بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا أَنتُمَا وَمَنِ اِتَّبَعَكُمَا اَلْغَٰلِبُونَ﴿35﴾

قال سنشد عضدك بأخيك ونجعل لكما سلطنا فلا يصلون إليكما بـايتنا أنتما ومن اتبعكما الغلبون

Allah said, “We will strengthen you through your brother and give you both power, so they cannot harm you. With Our signs, you and your followers will prevail.”

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم مُّوسَىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا بَيِّنَٰتٖ قَالُواْ مَا هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٞ مُّفْتَرىٗ وَمَا سَمِعْنَا بِهَٰذَا فِي ءَابَآئِنَا اَلْأَوَّلِينَ﴿36﴾

فلما جاءهم موسى بـايتنا بينت قالوا ما هذا إلا سحر مفترى وما سمعنا بهذا في ءابائنا الأولين

When Moses came to them with Our clear signs, they said, “This is nothing but fabricated magic; we have not heard of this from our earlier ancestors.”

وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ رَبِّيَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن جَآءَ بِالْهُدَىٰ مِنْ عِندِهِ وَمَن تَكُونُ لَهُ عَٰقِبَةُ اُلدَّارِ إِنَّهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ اُلظَّٰلِمُونَ﴿37﴾

وقال موسى ربي أعلم بمن جاء بالهدى من عنده ومن تكون له عقبة الدار إنه لا يفلح الظلمون

Moses said, “My Lord knows best who has come with guidance from Him and who will have the best abode in the end. The wrongdoers will never succeed.”

وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلْمَلَأُ مَا عَلِمْتُ لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرِي فَأَوْقِدْ لِي يَٰهَامَٰنُ عَلَى اَلطِّينِ فَاجْعَل لِّي صَرْحاٗ لَّعَلِّيَ أَطَّلِعُ إِلَىٰ إِلَٰهِ مُوسَىٰ وَإِنِّي لَأَظُنُّهُ مِنَ اَلْكَٰذِبِينَ﴿38﴾

وقال فرعون يأيها الملأ ما علمت لكم من إله غيري فأوقد لي يهامن على الطين فاجعل لي صرحا لعلي أطلع إلى إله موسى وإني لأظنه من الكذبين

Pharaoh said, “O chiefs, I do not know for you any god other than myself. So bake for me bricks out of clay, O Hāmān, and build for me a tower so that I may have a look at the God of Moses, for I think he is a liar.”

وَاسْتَكْبَرَ هُوَ وَجُنُودُهُ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ اِلْحَقِّ وَظَنُّواْ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا يَرْجِعُونَ﴿39﴾

واستكبر هو وجنوده في الأرض بغير الحق وظنوا أنهم إلينا لا يرجعون

He and his soldiers were arrogant in the land without any right and thought that they would not be brought back to Us.

فَأَخَذْنَٰهُ وَجُنُودَهُ فَنَبَذْنَٰهُمْ فِي اِلْيَمِّ فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُلظَّٰلِمِينَ﴿40﴾

فأخذنه وجنوده فنبذنهم في اليم فانظر كيف كان عقبة الظلمين

So We seized him and his soldiers and flung them into the sea. See how was the end of the wrongdoers!

وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ أَئِمَّةٗ يَدْعُونَ إِلَى اَلنَّارِ وَيَوْمَ اَلْقِيَٰمَةِ لَا يُنصَرُونَ﴿41﴾

وجعلنهم أئمة يدعون إلى النار ويوم القيمة لا ينصرون

We made them leaders calling to the Fire, and on the Day of Resurrection they will not be helped.

وَأَتْبَعْنَٰهُمْ فِي هَٰذِهِ اِلدُّنْيَا لَعْنَةٗ وَيَوْمَ اَلْقِيَٰمَةِ هُم مِّنَ اَلْمَقْبُوحِينَ﴿42﴾

وأتبعنهم في هذه الدنيا لعنة ويوم القيمة هم من المقبوحين

We caused a curse to pursue them in this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they will be among those who are despised.

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى اَلْكِتَٰبَ مِن بَعْدِ مَا أَهْلَكْنَا اَلْقُرُونَ اَلْأُولَىٰ بَصَآئِرَ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدىٗ وَرَحْمَةٗ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ﴿43﴾

ولقد ءاتينا موسى الكتب من بعد ما أهلكنا القرون الأولى بصائر للناس وهدى ورحمة لعلهم يتذكرون

We gave Moses the Scripture after destroying earlier nations, as an insight for mankind, and a guidance and mercy, so that they may take heed.

وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ اِلْغَرْبِيِّ إِذْ قَضَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَى اَلْأَمْرَ وَمَا كُنتَ مِنَ اَلشَّٰهِدِينَ﴿44﴾

وما كنت بجانب الغربي إذ قضينا إلى موسى الأمر وما كنت من الشهدين

You were not [O Prophet] on the western side [of the mountain] when We gave Moses Our commandment, nor did you witness that event.

وَلَٰكِنَّا أَنشَأْنَا قُرُوناٗ فَتَطَاوَلَ عَلَيْهِمُ اُلْعُمُرُ وَمَا كُنتَ ثَاوِياٗ فِي أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ تَتْلُواْ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ﴿45﴾

ولكنا أنشأنا قرونا فتطاول عليهم العمر وما كنت ثاويا في أهل مدين تتلوا عليهم ءايتنا ولكنا كنا مرسلين

But We brought forth many generations [after Moses], and a long time passed on them. And you [O Prophet] did not dwell among the people of Midian, rehearsing with them Our verses, but it is We Who sent you as a messenger [and revealed to you their stories].

وَمَا كُنتَ بِجَانِبِ اِلطُّورِ إِذْ نَادَيْنَا وَلَٰكِن رَّحْمَةٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْماٗ مَّا أَتَيٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٖ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ﴿46﴾

وما كنت بجانب الطور إذ نادينا ولكن رحمة من ربك لتنذر قوما ما أتيهم من نذير من قبلك لعلهم يتذكرون

You were not at the side of Mount Tūr when We called out [to Moses]. But [you have been sent] as a mercy from your Lord, to warn a people to whom no warner had come before you, so that they may take heed.

وَلَوْلَا أَن تُصِيبَهُم مُّصِيبَةُ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُواْ رَبَّنَا لَوْلَا أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولاٗ فَنَتَّبِعَ ءَايَٰتِكَ وَنَكُونَ مِنَ اَلْمُؤْمِنِينَ﴿47﴾

ولولا أن تصيبهم مصيبة بما قدمت أيديهم فيقولوا ربنا لولا أرسلت إلينا رسولا فنتبع ءايتك ونكون من المؤمنين

So they would not say – if struck by a calamity because of what their hands have sent forth, “Our Lord, if only You had sent us a messenger, so we could follow Your verses and be among the believers?”

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ اُلْحَقُّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُواْ لَوْلَا أُوتِيَ مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَىٰ أَوَلَمْ يَكْفُرُواْ بِمَا أُوتِيَ مُوسَىٰ مِن قَبْلُ قَالُواْ سَٰحِرَٰنِ تَظَٰهَرَا وَقَالُواْ إِنَّا بِكُلّٖ كَٰفِرُونَ﴿48﴾

فلما جاءهم الحق من عندنا قالوا لولا أوتي مثل ما أوتي موسى أولم يكفروا بما أوتي موسى من قبل قالوا سحرن تظهرا وقالوا إنا بكل كفرون

But when the truth came to them from Us, they said, “If only he was given the like of what was given to Moses before.” Did they not reject what was given to Moses before? They say, “Both [revelations] are works of magic, supporting each other”, adding, “We truly reject both of them.”

قُلْ فَأْتُواْ بِكِتَٰبٖ مِّنْ عِندِ اِللَّهِ هُوَ أَهْدَىٰ مِنْهُمَا أَتَّبِعْهُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ﴿49﴾

قل فأتوا بكتب من عند الله هو أهدى منهما أتبعه إن كنتم صدقين

Say, “Then bring a scripture from Allah which is better in guidance than these two so that I may follow it, if you are truthful.”

فَإِن لَّمْ يَسْتَجِيبُواْ لَكَ فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يَتَّبِعُونَ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ وَمَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّنِ اِتَّبَعَ هَوَيٰهُ بِغَيْرِ هُدىٗ مِّنَ اَللَّهِ إِنَّ اَللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِي اِلْقَوْمَ اَلظَّٰلِمِينَ﴿50﴾

فإن لم يستجيبوا لك فاعلم أنما يتبعون أهواءهم ومن أضل ممن اتبع هويه بغير هدى من الله إن الله لا يهدي القوم الظلمين

But if they do not respond to you, then know that they only follow their desires. Who is more astray than one who follows his desire without any guidance from Allah? Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

وَلَقَدْ وَصَّلْنَا لَهُمُ اُلْقَوْلَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ﴿51﴾

ولقد وصلنا لهم القول لعلهم يتذكرون

And We have constantly conveyed the Word [of admonition] to them, so that they may take heed.

اَلذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُ اُلْكِتَٰبَ مِن قَبْلِهِ هُم بِهِ يُؤْمِنُونَ﴿52﴾

الذين ءاتينهم الكتب من قبله هم به يؤمنون

As for those whom We gave the Scripture before this [Qur’an], they do believe in it.

وَإِذَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ قَالُواْ ءَامَنَّا بِهِ إِنَّهُ اُلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلِهِ مُسْلِمِينَ﴿53﴾

وإذا يتلى عليهم قالوا ءامنا به إنه الحق من ربنا إنا كنا من قبله مسلمين

When this [Qur’an] is recited to them, they say, “We believe in it, for it is the truth from our Lord. We had already submitted [as Muslims even] before this.”

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يُؤْتَوْنَ أَجْرَهُم مَّرَّتَيْنِ بِمَا صَبَرُواْ وَيَدْرَءُونَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ اِلسَّيِّئَةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ﴿54﴾

أولئك يؤتون أجرهم مرتين بما صبروا ويدرءون بالحسنة السيية ومما رزقنهم ينفقون

They will be given their reward twice for their patience, repelling evil with good, and for spending out of what We have provided for them.

وَإِذَا سَمِعُواْ اُللَّغْوَ أَعْرَضُواْ عَنْهُ وَقَالُواْ لَنَا أَعْمَٰلُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَٰلُكُمْ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا نَبْتَغِي اِلْجَٰهِلِينَ﴿55﴾

وإذا سمعوا اللغو أعرضوا عنه وقالوا لنا أعملنا ولكم أعملكم سلم عليكم لا نبتغي الجهلين

When they hear vain talk, they turn away from it and say, “We are accountable for our deeds and you for yours. Peace [is our response] to you! We do not want [to be with] the ignorant.”

إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَٰكِنَّ اَللَّهَ يَهْدِي مَنْ يَّشَآءُ وَهْوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ﴿56﴾

إنك لا تهدي من أحببت ولكن الله يهدي من يشاء وهو أعلم بالمهتدين

You cannot guide whoever you like, but Allah guides whom He wills, and He knows best who will be guided.

وَقَالُواْ إِن نَّتَّبِعِ اِلْهُدَىٰ مَعَكَ نُتَخَطَّفْ مِنْ أَرْضِنَا أَوَلَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّهُمْ حَرَماً ءَامِناٗ تُجْبَىٰ إِلَيْهِ ثَمَرَٰتُ كُلِّ شَيْءٖ رِّزْقاٗ مِّن لَّدُنَّا وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ﴿57﴾

وقالوا إن نتبع الهدى معك نتخطف من أرضنا أولم نمكن لهم حرما ءامنا تجبى إليه ثمرت كل شيء رزقا من لدنا ولكن أكثرهم لا يعلمون

They say, “If we follow the guidance with you [O Prophet], we will be snatched away from our land.” Have We not established for them a safe sanctuary [in Makkah] to which fruits of all kinds are brought as provision from Us? But most of them do not know.

وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةِ بَطِرَتْ مَعِيشَتَهَا فَتِلْكَ مَسَٰكِنُهُمْ لَمْ تُسْكَن مِّن بَعْدِهِمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلاٗ وَكُنَّا نَحْنُ اُلْوَٰرِثِينَ﴿58﴾

وكم أهلكنا من قرية بطرت معيشتها فتلك مسكنهم لم تسكن من بعدهم إلا قليلا وكنا نحن الورثين

How many a town We have destroyed that were arrogant due to their affluence! Those are their dwellings which were never inhabited after them except briefly. It is We Who were the Inheritors.

وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ اَلْقُرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ يَبْعَثَ فِي أُمِّهَا رَسُولاٗ يَتْلُواْ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَٰتِنَا وَمَا كُنَّا مُهْلِكِي اِلْقُرَىٰ إِلَّا وَأَهْلُهَا ظَٰلِمُونَ﴿59﴾

وما كان ربك مهلك القرى حتى يبعث في أمها رسولا يتلوا عليهم ءايتنا وما كنا مهلكي القرى إلا وأهلها ظلمون

Your Lord would never destroy towns without first sending to their main city a messenger, reciting to them Our verses. Nor would We destroy towns unless their people were wrongdoers.

وَمَا أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَيْءٖ فَمَتَٰعُ اُلْحَيَوٰةِ اِلدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتُهَا وَمَا عِندَ اَللَّهِ خَيْرٞ وَأَبْقَىٰ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ﴿60﴾

وما أوتيتم من شيء فمتع الحيوة الدنيا وزينتها وما عند الله خير وأبقى أفلا تعقلون

Whatever you have been given is only an enjoyment and adornment of the life of this world, but what is with Allah is better and more lasting. Will you not then understand?

أَفَمَنْ وَّعَدْنَٰهُ وَعْداً حَسَناٗ فَهْوَ لَٰقِيهِ كَمَن مَّتَّعْنَٰهُ مَتَٰعَ اَلْحَيَوٰةِ اِلدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ هْوَ يَوْمَ اَلْقِيَٰمَةِ مِنَ اَلْمُحْضَرِينَ﴿61﴾

أفمن وعدنه وعدا حسنا فهو لقيه كمن متعنه متع الحيوة الدنيا ثم هو يوم القيمة من المحضرين

Is one whom We promised a good promise – which he is going to obtain – like one whom We gave the pleasure of the life of this world, then on the Day of Resurrection he will be among those summoned [to Hellfire]?

وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِيَ اَلذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ﴿62﴾

ويوم يناديهم فيقول أين شركاءي الذين كنتم تزعمون

And [beware of] the Day when He will call out to them and say, “Where are those whom you claimed to be My partners?”

قَالَ اَلذِينَ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ اُلْقَوْلُ رَبَّنَا هَٰؤُلَآءِ اِلذِينَ أَغْوَيْنَا أَغْوَيْنَٰهُمْ كَمَا غَوَيْنَا تَبَرَّأْنَا إِلَيْكَ مَا كَانُواْ إِيَّانَا يَعْبُدُونَ﴿63﴾

قال الذين حق عليهم القول ربنا هؤلاء الذين أغوينا أغوينهم كما غوينا تبرأنا إليك ما كانوا إيانا يعبدون

Those against whom the word will be fulfilled will say, “Our Lord, these are the ones whom we led astray; we led them astray as we ourselves went astray. We disassociate ourselves [from them] before You; it was not us that they used to worship.”

وَقِيلَ اَدْعُواْ شُرَكَآءَكُمْ فَدَعَوْهُمْ فَلَمْ يَسْتَجِيبُواْ لَهُمْ وَرَأَوُاْ اُلْعَذَابَ لَوْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ يَهْتَدُونَ﴿64﴾

وقيل ادعوا شركاءكم فدعوهم فلم يستجيبوا لهم ورأوا العذاب لو أنهم كانوا يهتدون

Then they will be told, “Call upon your [so-called] partners [for help].” They will call upon them, but will receive no response. They will see the punishment, wishing that they had followed guidance.

وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُ مَاذَا أَجَبْتُمُ اُلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿65﴾

ويوم يناديهم فيقول ماذا أجبتم المرسلين

On the Day when He will call out to them, saying, “What response did you give to the messengers?”

فَعَمِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ اُلْأَنبَآءُ يَوْمَئِذٖ فَهُمْ لَا يَتَسَآءَلُونَ﴿66﴾

فعميت عليهم الأنباء يومئذ فهم لا يتساءلون

They will be dumbstruck on that Day, not even able to ask one another.

فَأَمَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحاٗ فَعَسَىٰ أَنْ يَّكُونَ مِنَ اَلْمُفْلِحِينَ﴿67﴾

فأما من تاب وءامن وعمل صلحا فعسى أن يكون من المفلحين

But whoever repents and believes, and does righteous deeds, he will be among the successful.

وَرَبُّكَ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ وَيَخْتَارُ مَا كَانَ لَهُمُ اُلْخِيَرَةُ سُبْحَٰنَ اَللَّهِ وَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ﴿68﴾

وربك يخلق ما يشاء ويختار ما كان لهم الخيرة سبحن الله وتعلى عما يشركون

Your Lord creates and chooses what He wills; they have no choice. Glorified is Allah and Exalted is He far above what they associate with Him.

وَرَبُّكَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ﴿69﴾

وربك يعلم ما تكن صدورهم وما يعلنون

Your Lord knows all that their hearts conceal and all that they reveal.

وَهْوَ اَللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ لَهُ اُلْحَمْدُ فِي اِلْأُولَىٰ وَالْأٓخِرَةِ وَلَهُ اُلْحُكْمُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ﴿70﴾

وهو الله لا إله إلا هو له الحمد في الأولى والأخرة وله الحكم وإليه ترجعون

He is Allah: none has the right to be worshiped except Him. All praise belongs to Him in this life and the Hereafter. His is the Judgment, and to Him you will all be returned.

قُلْ أَرَٰيْتُمْ إِن جَعَلَ اَللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمُ اُليْلَ سَرْمَداً إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ اِلْقِيَٰمَةِ مَنْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ اُللَّهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِضِيَآءٍ أَفَلَا تَسْمَعُونَ﴿71﴾

قل أريتم إن جعل الله عليكم اليل سرمدا إلى يوم القيمة من إله غير الله يأتيكم بضياء أفلا تسمعون

Say, “What do you think, if Allah were to make the night perpetual for you until the Day of Resurrection, which god other than Allah could bring you shining light? Do you not then listen?”

قُلْ أَرَٰيْتُمْ إِن جَعَلَ اَللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمُ اُلنَّهَارَ سَرْمَداً إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ اِلْقِيَٰمَةِ مَنْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ اُللَّهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِلَيْلٖ تَسْكُنُونَ فِيهِ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ﴿72﴾

قل أريتم إن جعل الله عليكم النهار سرمدا إلى يوم القيمة من إله غير الله يأتيكم بليل تسكنون فيه أفلا تبصرون

Say, “What do you think, if Allah were to make the day perpetual for you until the Day of Resurrection, which god other than Allah could bring you night to rest in? Do you not then see?”

وَمِن رَّحْمَتِهِ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اُليْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ لِتَسْكُنُواْ فِيهِ وَلِتَبْتَغُواْ مِن فَضْلِهِ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ﴿73﴾

ومن رحمته جعل لكم اليل والنهار لتسكنوا فيه ولتبتغوا من فضله ولعلكم تشكرون

It is out of His mercy that He made for you the night and day, so that you may rest therein and seek of His bounty, and so that you may be grateful.

وَيَوْمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآءِيَ اَلذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ﴿74﴾

ويوم يناديهم فيقول أين شركاءي الذين كنتم تزعمون

And [beware of] the Day when He will call out to them and say, “Where are those whom you claimed to be My partners?”

وَنَزَعْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٖ شَهِيداٗ فَقُلْنَا هَاتُواْ بُرْهَٰنَكُمْ فَعَلِمُواْ أَنَّ اَلْحَقَّ لِلهِ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَ﴿75﴾

ونزعنا من كل أمة شهيدا فقلنا هاتوا برهنكم فعلموا أن الحق لله وضل عنهم ما كانوا يفترون

We will bring forth from every nation a witness and say, “Bring your proof.” They will then know that the truth is with Allah, and all [false gods] that they used to invent will be lost from them.

إِنَّ قَارُونَ كَانَ مِن قَوْمِ مُوسَىٰ فَبَغَىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ مِنَ اَلْكُنُوزِ مَا إِنَّ مَفَاتِحَهُ لَتَنُوٓأُ بِالْعُصْبَةِ أُوْلِي اِلْقُوَّةِ إِذْ قَالَ لَهُ قَوْمُهُ لَا تَفْرَحْ إِنَّ اَللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ اُلْفَرِحِينَ﴿76﴾

إن قارون كان من قوم موسى فبغى عليهم وءاتينه من الكنوز ما إن مفاتحه لتنوأ بالعصبة أولي القوة إذ قال له قومه لا تفرح إن الله لا يحب الفرحين

Indeed, Korah was one of the people of Moses, but he behaved arrogantly towards them. We had given him such treasures that their keys would weigh down a group of strong men. When his people said to him, “Do not exult, for Allah does not like the exultant.

وَابْتَغِ فِيمَا ءَاتَيٰكَ اَللَّهُ اُلدَّارَ اَلْأٓخِرَةَ وَلَا تَنسَ نَصِيبَكَ مِنَ اَلدُّنْيَا وَأَحْسِن كَمَا أَحْسَنَ اَللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ وَلَا تَبْغِ اِلْفَسَادَ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ إِنَّ اَللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ اُلْمُفْسِدِينَ﴿77﴾

وابتغ فيما ءاتيك الله الدار الأخرة ولا تنس نصيبك من الدنيا وأحسن كما أحسن الله إليك ولا تبغ الفساد في الأرض إن الله لا يحب المفسدين

Rather, seek with what Allah has given you the abode of the Hereafter, without forgetting your share of this world, and do good as Allah has done good to you, and do not seek to spread corruption in the land, for Allah does not like those who spread corruption.”

قَالَ إِنَّمَا أُوتِيتُهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ عِندِيَ أَوَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَنَّ اَللَّهَ قَدْ أَهْلَكَ مِن قَبْلِهِ مِنَ اَلْقُرُونِ مَنْ هُوَ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُ قُوَّةٗ وَأَكْثَرُ جَمْعاٗ وَلَا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذُنُوبِهِمُ اُلْمُجْرِمُونَ﴿78﴾

قال إنما أوتيته على علم عندي أولم يعلم أن الله قد أهلك من قبله من القرون من هو أشد منه قوة وأكثر جمعا ولا يسـل عن ذنوبهم المجرمون

He said, “I have been given all this because of the knowledge that I have.” Did he not know that Allah destroyed some generations before him who were superior to him in power and greater in accumulating [wealth]? There will be no need for the wicked to be asked about their sins.

فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ فِي زِينَتِهِ قَالَ اَلذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ اَلْحَيَوٰةَ اَلدُّنْيَا يَٰلَيْتَ لَنَا مِثْلَ مَا أُوتِيَ قَارُونُ إِنَّهُ لَذُو حَظٍّ عَظِيمٖ﴿79﴾

فخرج على قومه في زينته قال الذين يريدون الحيوة الدنيا يليت لنا مثل ما أوتي قارون إنه لذو حظ عظيم

He came out before his people in all his glamor. Those who desired the life of this world said, “Oh, would that we had the like of what Korah has been given! He is indeed a man of great fortune.”

وَقَالَ اَلذِينَ أُوتُواْ اُلْعِلْمَ وَيْلَكُمْ ثَوَابُ اُللَّهِ خَيْرٞ لِّمَنْ ءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحاٗ وَلَا يُلَقَّيٰهَا إِلَّا اَلصَّٰبِرُونَ﴿80﴾

وقال الذين أوتوا العلم ويلكم ثواب الله خير لمن ءامن وعمل صلحا ولا يلقيها إلا الصبرون

But those who were given knowledge said, “Woe to you! Allah’s reward is better for those who believe and do righteous deeds. But none will attain this except those who are steadfast.”

فَخَسَفْنَا بِهِ وَبِدَارِهِ اِلْأَرْضَ فَمَا كَانَ لَهُ مِن فِئَةٖ يَنصُرُونَهُ مِن دُونِ اِللَّهِ وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ اَلْمُنتَصِرِينَ﴿81﴾

فخسفنا به وبداره الأرض فما كان له من فية ينصرونه من دون الله وما كان من المنتصرين

Then We caused the earth to swallow him and his house. There was no one to help him against Allah, nor was he able to help himself.

وَأَصْبَحَ اَلذِينَ تَمَنَّوْاْ مَكَانَهُ بِالْأَمْسِ يَقُولُونَ وَيْكَأَنَّ اَللَّهَ يَبْسُطُ اُلرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ وَيَقْدِرُ لَوْلَا أَن مَّنَّ اَللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا لَخُسِفَ بِنَا وَيْكَأَنَّهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ اُلْكَٰفِرُونَ﴿82﴾

وأصبح الذين تمنوا مكانه بالأمس يقولون ويكأن الله يبسط الرزق لمن يشاء من عباده ويقدر لولا أن من الله علينا لخسف بنا ويكأنه لا يفلح الكفرون

Those who had wished for his position the day before started saying, “Oh, it is surely Allah Who extends provisions to whom He wills or restricts it. If Allah had not favored us, He could have caused the earth to swallow us too. Oh, indeed the disbelievers will never succeed.”

تِلْكَ اَلدَّارُ اُلْأٓخِرَةُ نَجْعَلُهَا لِلذِينَ لَا يُرِيدُونَ عُلُوّاٗ فِي اِلْأَرْضِ وَلَا فَسَاداٗ وَالْعَٰقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ﴿83﴾

تلك الدار الأخرة نجعلها للذين لا يريدون علوا في الأرض ولا فسادا والعقبة للمتقين

That is the abode of the Hereafter We will assign to those who neither seek superiority nor corruption on earth. The best outcome is for those who fear Allah.

مَن جَآءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ خَيْرٞ مِّنْهَا وَمَن جَآءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَلَا يُجْزَى اَلذِينَ عَمِلُواْ اُلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ إِلَّا مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ﴿84﴾

من جاء بالحسنة فله خير منها ومن جاء بالسيية فلا يجزى الذين عملوا السيـات إلا ما كانوا يعملون

Whoever comes with a good deed will be rewarded with what is better, and whoever comes with an evil deed, the evildoers will only be recompensed for what they used to do.

إِنَّ اَلذِي فَرَضَ عَلَيْكَ اَلْقُرْءَانَ لَرَآدُّكَ إِلَىٰ مَعَادٖ قُل رَّبِّيَ أَعْلَمُ مَن جَآءَ بِالْهُدَىٰ وَمَنْ هُوَ فِي ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٖ﴿85﴾

إن الذي فرض عليك القرءان لرادك إلى معاد قل ربي أعلم من جاء بالهدى ومن هو في ضلل مبين

Indeed, the One Who has ordained for you the Qur’an will bring you back home. Say, “My Lord knows best who has come with guidance and who is clearly misguided.”

وَمَا كُنتَ تَرْجُواْ أَنْ يُّلْقَىٰ إِلَيْكَ اَلْكِتَٰبُ إِلَّا رَحْمَةٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ ظَهِيراٗ لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ﴿86﴾

وما كنت ترجوا أن يلقى إليك الكتب إلا رحمة من ربك فلا تكونن ظهيرا للكفرين

You were not expecting the Book to be revealed to you, but it was a mercy from your Lord. So never be a supporter to the disbelievers.

وَلَا يَصُدُّنَّكَ عَنْ ءَايَٰتِ اِللَّهِ بَعْدَ إِذْ أُنزِلَتْ إِلَيْكَ وَادْعُ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ اَلْمُشْرِكِينَ﴿87﴾

ولا يصدنك عن ءايت الله بعد إذ أنزلت إليك وادع إلى ربك ولا تكونن من المشركين

Do not let them turn you away from Allah’s verses after they have been sent down to you. Rather, call people to your Lord, and never be among those who associate partners with Allah.

وَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ اَللَّهِ إِلَٰهاً ءَاخَرَ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلَّا وَجْهَهُ لَهُ اُلْحُكْمُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ﴿88﴾

ولا تدع مع الله إلها ءاخر لا إله إلا هو كل شيء هالك إلا وجهه له الحكم وإليه ترجعون

Do not invoke with Allah another god; none has the right to be worshiped except Him. Everything will perish except His Face. His is the Judgment and to Him you will all be brought back.
