الأعلى

سَبِّحِ اِسْمَ رَبِّكَ اَلْأَعْلَى﴿1﴾

سبح اسم ربك الأعلى

Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High,

اَلذِي خَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ﴿2﴾

الذي خلق فسوى

Who created and fashioned in due proportion,

وَالذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَىٰ﴿3﴾

والذي قدر فهدى

and Who determined [the creation] then inspired them,

وَالذِي أَخْرَجَ اَلْمَرْعَىٰ﴿4﴾

والذي أخرج المرعى

and Who brings forth the pasture,

فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَآءً أَحْوَىٰ﴿5﴾

فجعله غثاء أحوى

then makes it into withered chaff.

سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنسَىٰ﴿6﴾

سنقريك فلا تنسى

We will teach you [the Qur’an], so you will not forget,

إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اَللَّهُ إِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ اُلْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَىٰ﴿7﴾

إلا ما شاء الله إنه يعلم الجهر وما يخفى

except what Allah wills, for indeed He knows what is manifest and what is hidden.

وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَىٰ﴿8﴾

ونيسرك لليسرى

We will guide you to the easy way.

فَذَكِّرْ إِن نَّفَعَتِ اِلذِّكْرَىٰ﴿9﴾

فذكر إن نفعت الذكرى

So remind, if the reminder should benefit.

سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ يَّخْشَىٰ﴿10﴾

سيذكر من يخشى

He who fears Allah will take heed,

وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا اَلْأَشْقَى﴿11﴾

ويتجنبها الأشقى

but the wretched will avoid it,

اَلذِي يَصْلَى اَلنَّارَ اَلْكُبْرَىٰ﴿12﴾

الذي يصلى النار الكبرى

who will enter the Great Fire,

ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَىٰ﴿13﴾

ثم لا يموت فيها ولا يحيى

wherein he will neither die nor live.

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن تَزَكَّىٰ﴿14﴾

قد أفلح من تزكى

Indeed, he who purifies himself will attain success,

وَذَكَرَ اَسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّىٰ﴿15﴾

وذكر اسم ربه فصلى

and remembers his Lord’s Name and prays.

بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ اَلْحَيَوٰةَ اَلدُّنْيَا﴿16﴾

بل تؤثرون الحيوة الدنيا

But you prefer the life of this world,

وَالْأٓخِرَةُ خَيْرٞ وَأَبْقَىٰ﴿17﴾

والأخرة خير وأبقى

even though the Hereafter is better and more lasting.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي اِلصُّحُفِ اِلْأُولَىٰ﴿18﴾

إن هذا لفي الصحف الأولى

Indeed, this was in the earlier Scriptures,

صُحُفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ﴿19﴾

صحف إبرهيم وموسى

the Scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
