إِذَا اَلسَّمَآءُ اُنفَطَرَتْ﴿1﴾
إذا السماء انفطرت
When the sky breaks apart.
وَإِذَا اَلْكَوَاكِبُ اُنتَثَرَتْ﴿2﴾
وإذا الكواكب انتثرت
and when the stars fall, scattered,
وَإِذَا اَلْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ﴿3﴾
وإذا البحار فجرت
and when the seas burst forth,
وَإِذَا اَلْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ﴿4﴾
وإذا القبور بعثرت
and when the graves are overturned,
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٞ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ﴿5﴾
علمت نفس ما قدمت وأخرت
then each soul will come to know what it has done or what it has left undone.
يَٰأَيُّهَا اَلْإِنسَٰنُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ اَلْكَرِيمِ﴿6﴾
يأيها الإنسن ما غرك بربك الكريم
O mankind, what has lured you away from your Lord, the Most Generous,
اِلذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّيٰكَ فَعَدَّلَكَ﴿7﴾
الذي خلقك فسويك فعدلك
Who created you, then shaped and proportioned you,
فِي أَيِّ صُورَةٖ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَ﴿8﴾
في أي صورة ما شاء ركبك
and assembled you in whatever form He willed?
كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِالدِّينِ﴿9﴾
كلا بل تكذبون بالدين
No indeed; but you deny the Judgment Day,
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَٰفِظِينَ﴿10﴾
وإن عليكم لحفظين
while there are watchers over you,
كِرَاماٗ كَٰتِبِينَ﴿11﴾
كراما كتبين
honorable scribes,
يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ﴿12﴾
يعلمون ما تفعلون
who know whatever you do.
إِنَّ اَلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٖ﴿13﴾
إن الأبرار لفي نعيم
Indeed, the righteous will be in Bliss,
وَإِنَّ اَلْفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٖ﴿14﴾
وإن الفجار لفي جحيم
and the wicked will be in Blazing Fire,
يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ اَلدِّينِ﴿15﴾
يصلونها يوم الدين
which they will enter on Judgment Day,
وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَآئِبِينَ﴿16﴾
وما هم عنها بغائبين
and will never come out of it.
وَمَا أَدْرَيٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ اُلدِّينِ﴿17﴾
وما أدريك ما يوم الدين
How do you know what Judgment Day is?
ثُمَّ مَا أَدْرَيٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ اُلدِّينِ﴿18﴾
ثم ما أدريك ما يوم الدين
Again, how do you know what Judgment Day is?
يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٞ لِّنَفْسٖ شَئْاٗ وَالْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلهِ﴿19﴾
يوم لا تملك نفس لنفس شيا والأمر يومئذ لله
It is the Day when no soul will be of any help to another, and all command on that Day will be with Allah.
