الإنسان

هَلْ أَتَىٰ عَلَى اَلْإِنسَٰنِ حِينٞ مِّنَ اَلدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَئْاٗ مَّذْكُوراً﴿1﴾

هل أتى على الإنسن حين من الدهر لم يكن شيا مذكورا

Was there not a period of time when man was not a thing [even] mentioned?

إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا اَلْإِنسَٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٖ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَٰهُ سَمِيعاَ بَصِيراً﴿2﴾

إنا خلقنا الإنسن من نطفة أمشاج نبتليه فجعلنه سميعا بصيرا

Indeed, We created man from a drop of mixed fluids, in order to test him. So We gave him hearing and sight.

إِنَّا هَدَيْنَٰهُ اُلسَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِراٗ وَإِمَّا كَفُوراً﴿3﴾

إنا هدينه السبيل إما شاكرا وإما كفورا

Indeed, We showed him the way, whether he is grateful or ungrateful.

إِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَٰفِرِينَ سَلَٰسِلاٗ وَأَغْلَٰلاٗ وَسَعِيراً﴿4﴾

إنا أعتدنا للكفرين سلسلا وأغللا وسعيرا

We have surely prepared for the disbelievers chains, shackles, and a Blazing Fire.

إِنَّ اَلْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٖ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُوراً﴿5﴾

إن الأبرار يشربون من كأس كان مزاجها كافورا

Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] flavored with camphor,

عَيْناٗ يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اُللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيراٗ﴿6﴾

عينا يشرب بها عباد الله يفجرونها تفجيرا

a spring from which Allah’s slaves will drink, which will flow as they wish.

يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْماٗ كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيراٗ﴿7﴾

يوفون بالنذر ويخافون يوما كان شره مستطيرا

They fulfill their vows and fear a Day whose evil will spread far and wide,

وَيُطْعِمُونَ اَلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ مِسْكِيناٗ وَيَتِيماٗ وَأَسِيراً﴿8﴾

ويطعمون الطعام على حبه مسكينا ويتيما وأسيرا

and they give food, despite their love for it, to the needy, the orphans, and the captives,

إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اِللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَآءٗ وَلَا شُكُوراً﴿9﴾

إنما نطعمكم لوجه الله لا نريد منكم جزاء ولا شكورا

[saying to themselves] “We feed you only for the sake of Allah; we seek from you neither reward nor gratitude.

إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْماً عَبُوساٗ قَمْطَرِيراٗ﴿10﴾

إنا نخاف من ربنا يوما عبوسا قمطريرا

We fear from our Lord a grim and distressful Day.”

فَوَقَيٰهُمُ اُللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ اَلْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّيٰهُمْ نَضْرَةٗ وَسُرُوراٗ﴿11﴾

فوقيهم الله شر ذلك اليوم ولقيهم نضرة وسرورا

So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day, and will grant them radiance and delight,

وَجَزَيٰهُم بِمَا صَبَرُواْ جَنَّةٗ وَحَرِيراٗ﴿12﴾

وجزيهم بما صبروا جنة وحريرا

and will reward them for their perseverance with Paradise and garments of silk.

مُّتَّكِـِٕينَ فِيهَا عَلَى اَلْأَرَآئِكِ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْساٗ وَلَا زَمْهَرِيراٗ﴿13﴾

متكـين فيها على الأرائك لا يرون فيها شمسا ولا زمهريرا

They will recline therein on adorned couches; neither feeling scorching heat nor freezing cold.

وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَٰلُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلاٗ﴿14﴾

ودانية عليهم ظللها وذللت قطوفها تذليلا

with shady branches spread above them, and clusters of fruit will be made within their reach.

وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِـَٔانِيَةٖ مِّن فِضَّةٖ وَأَكْوَابٖ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيراٗ﴿15﴾

ويطاف عليهم بـانية من فضة وأكواب كانت قواريرا

They will be served frequently with silver vessels and crystal cups,

قَوَارِيراٗ مِّن فِضَّةٖ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيراٗ﴿16﴾

قواريرا من فضة قدروها تقديرا

crystalline goblets of silver, filled precisely as desired.

وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْساٗ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلاً﴿17﴾

ويسقون فيها كأسا كان مزاجها زنجبيلا

They will be given a glass [of wine] flavored with ginger

عَيْناٗ فِيهَا تُسَمَّىٰ سَلْسَبِيلاٗ﴿18﴾

عينا فيها تسمى سلسبيلا

from a spring therein called Salsabīl.

وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٞ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤاٗ مَّنثُوراٗ﴿19﴾

ويطوف عليهم ولدن مخلدون إذا رأيتهم حسبتهم لؤلؤا منثورا

They will be served by eternal young boys; if you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls.

وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيماٗ وَمُلْكاٗ كَبِيراً﴿20﴾

وإذا رأيت ثم رأيت نعيما وملكا كبيرا

If you were to look around, you would see bliss and a vast dominion.

عَٰلِيهِمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٞ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٞ وَحُلُّواْ أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٖ وَسَقَيٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَاباٗ طَهُوراً﴿21﴾

عليهم ثياب سندس خضر وإستبرق وحلوا أساور من فضة وسقيهم ربهم شرابا طهورا

They will be dressed in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade, and will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَآءٗ وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُوراً﴿22﴾

إن هذا كان لكم جزاء وكان سعيكم مشكورا

[And they will be told,] “Indeed, this is your reward, and your efforts have been appreciated.”

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ اَلْقُرْءَانَ تَنزِيلاٗ﴿23﴾

إنا نحن نزلنا عليك القرءان تنزيلا

Indeed, it is We Who have sent down the Qur’an to you in stages.

فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ ءَاثِماً أَوْ كَفُوراٗ﴿24﴾

فاصبر لحكم ربك ولا تطع منهم ءاثما أو كفورا

So be patient with your Lord’s decree, and do not obey any sinner or disbeliever from among them.

وَاذْكُرِ اِسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةٗ وَأَصِيلاٗ﴿25﴾

واذكر اسم ربك بكرة وأصيلا

And remember the Name of your Lord morning and evening,

وَمِنَ اَليْلِ فَاسْجُدْ لَهُ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلاٗ طَوِيلاً﴿26﴾

ومن اليل فاسجد له وسبحه ليلا طويلا

and prostrate to Him at night, and glorify Him at length by night.

إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَآءِ يُحِبُّونَ اَلْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَآءَهُمْ يَوْماٗ ثَقِيلاٗ﴿27﴾

إن هؤلاء يحبون العاجلة ويذرون وراءهم يوما ثقيلا

Indeed, these [pagans] love this fleeting life and pay no heed to a heavy Day ahead of them.

نَّحْنُ خَلَقْنَٰهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَا أَسْرَهُمْ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَا أَمْثَٰلَهُمْ تَبْدِيلاً﴿28﴾

نحن خلقنهم وشددنا أسرهم وإذا شينا بدلنا أمثلهم تبديلا

It is We Who created them and strengthened their build. If We will, We can replace them with others like them.

إِنَّ هَٰذِهِ تَذْكِرَةٞ فَمَن شَآءَ اَتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ سَبِيلاٗ﴿29﴾

إن هذه تذكرة فمن شاء اتخذ إلى ربه سبيلا

Indeed, this is a reminder; so let anyone who wills may take a way to his Lord.

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَّشَآءَ اَللَّهُ إِنَّ اَللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيماً حَكِيماٗ﴿30﴾

وما تشاءون إلا أن يشاء الله إن الله كان عليما حكيما

But you cannot will unless Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

يُدْخِلُ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ وَالظَّٰلِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَاباً أَلِيماَ﴿31﴾

يدخل من يشاء في رحمته والظلمين أعد لهم عذابا أليما

He admits whom He wills into His mercy, but for the wrongdoers He has prepared a painful punishment.
