عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ﴿1﴾
عم يتساءلون
About what are they asking one another?
عَنِ اِلنَّبَإِ اِلْعَظِيمِ﴿2﴾
عن النبإ العظيم
About the momentous news,
اِلذِي هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ﴿3﴾
الذي هم فيه مختلفون
that which they differ about.
كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ﴿4﴾
كلا سيعلمون
No indeed; they will come to know.
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ﴿5﴾
ثم كلا سيعلمون
Again no; they will come to know.
أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ اِلْأَرْضَ مِهَٰداٗ﴿6﴾
ألم نجعل الأرض مهدا
Have We not made the earth a resting place?
وَالْجِبَالَ أَوْتَاداٗ﴿7﴾
والجبال أوتادا
And the mountains as stakes,
وَخَلَقْنَٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجاٗ﴿8﴾
وخلقنكم أزوجا
and created you in pairs,
وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتاٗ﴿9﴾
وجعلنا نومكم سباتا
and made your sleep for rest,
وَجَعَلْنَا اَليْلَ لِبَاساٗ﴿10﴾
وجعلنا اليل لباسا
and made the night a covering,
وَجَعَلْنَا اَلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشاٗ﴿11﴾
وجعلنا النهار معاشا
and made the day for seeking a livelihood,
وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعاٗ شِدَاداٗ﴿12﴾
وبنينا فوقكم سبعا شدادا
and built above you seven mighty heavens,
وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجاٗ وَهَّاجاٗ﴿13﴾
وجعلنا سراجا وهاجا
and made therein a blazing lamp,
وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ اَلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءٗ ثَجَّاجاٗ﴿14﴾
وأنزلنا من المعصرت ماء ثجاجا
and sent down from the rainclouds abundant water,
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِ حَبّاٗ وَنَبَاتاٗ﴿15﴾
لنخرج به حبا ونباتا
so that We may produce thereby grains and vegetation,
وَجَنَّٰتٍ أَلْفَافاً﴿16﴾
وجنت ألفافا
and gardens with dense foliage?
إِنَّ يَوْمَ اَلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتاٗ﴿17﴾
إن يوم الفصل كان ميقتا
Indeed, the Day of Judgment is a time appointed,
يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِي اِلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجاٗ﴿18﴾
يوم ينفخ في الصور فتأتون أفواجا
the Day when the Trumpet will be blown, you will come forth in crowds,
وَفُتِّحَتِ اِلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَاباٗ﴿19﴾
وفتحت السماء فكانت أبوابا
and the sky will be opened up and will become gateways,
وَسُيِّرَتِ اِلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَاباً﴿20﴾
وسيرت الجبال فكانت سرابا
and the mountains will vanish, becoming like a mirage.
إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَاداٗ﴿21﴾
إن جهنم كانت مرصادا
Indeed, Hell is lying in wait,
لِّلطَّٰغِينَ مَـَٔاباٗ﴿22﴾
للطغين مـابا
a resort for the transgressors,
لَّٰبِثِينَ فِيهَا أَحْقَاباٗ﴿23﴾
لبثين فيها أحقابا
wherein they will abide for endless ages.
لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْداٗ وَلَا شَرَاباً﴿24﴾
لا يذوقون فيها بردا ولا شرابا
They will neither taste therein any coolness nor any drink,
إِلَّا حَمِيماٗ وَغَسَاقاٗ﴿25﴾
إلا حميما وغساقا
except for scalding water and discharge of wounds,
جَزَآءٗ وِفَاقاً﴿26﴾
جزاء وفاقا
a fitting recompense.
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَاباٗ﴿27﴾
إنهم كانوا لا يرجون حسابا
Indeed, they did not expect a reckoning,
وَكَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّاباٗ﴿28﴾
وكذبوا بـايتنا كذابا
and utterly rejected Our verses.
وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَٰهُ كِتَٰباٗ﴿29﴾
وكل شيء أحصينه كتبا
But We have enumerated everything in a record.
فَذُوقُواْ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَاباً﴿30﴾
فذوقوا فلن نزيدكم إلا عذابا
So taste [the punishment], for We will not increase you except in torment.”
إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازاً﴿31﴾
إن للمتقين مفازا
Indeed, the righteous will have salvation,
حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَٰباٗ﴿32﴾
حدائق وأعنبا
gardens and vineyards,
وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَاباٗ﴿33﴾
وكواعب أترابا
and full-bosomed maidens of equal age,
وَكَأْساٗ دِهَاقاٗ﴿34﴾
وكأسا دهاقا
and a full cup [of wine].
لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْواٗ وَلَا كِذَّاباٗ﴿35﴾
لا يسمعون فيها لغوا ولا كذابا
They will not hear therein vain talk or lies –
جَزَآءٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَاباٗ﴿36﴾
جزاء من ربك عطاء حسابا
a reward and a generous gift from your Lord,
رَّبُّ اُلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا اَلرَّحْمَٰنُ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَاباٗ﴿37﴾
رب السموت والأرض وما بينهما الرحمن لا يملكون منه خطابا
[from] the Lord of the heavens and earth and all that is between them, the Most Compassionate; none will dare to speak to Him.
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ اُلرُّوحُ وَالْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ صَفّاٗ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ اُلرَّحْمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَاباٗ﴿38﴾
يوم يقوم الروح والملئكة صفا لا يتكلمون إلا من أذن له الرحمن وقال صوابا
On the Day when the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows; none will dare to speak, except those to whom the Most Compassionate granted permission, and they will only speak the truth.
ذَٰلِكَ اَلْيَوْمُ اُلْحَقُّ فَمَن شَآءَ اَتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ مَـَٔاباً﴿39﴾
ذلك اليوم الحق فمن شاء اتخذ إلى ربه مـابا
That Day is sure to come. So whoever wills may seek a path leading to his Lord.
إِنَّا أَنذَرْنَٰكُمْ عَذَاباٗ قَرِيباٗ يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ اُلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَٰهُ وَيَقُولُ اُلْكَافِرُ يَٰلَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَٰباَ﴿40﴾
إنا أنذرنكم عذابا قريبا يوم ينظر المرء ما قدمت يده ويقول الكافر يليتني كنت تربا
Indeed, We have warned you of an imminent punishment on the Day when everyone will see what his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say, “Oh, I wish that I were dust!”
